Buckle Up Decoded/ What are you drinking?

Submitted by icactus on

I've been going over this a lot and I think I've decoded Tom's message...

I was close yesterday but the board broke right when I thought I had it. Clearly the universe doesn't want me telling you this.

Using the letters: TOMVH TWITTER SAYS BUCKLE UP

you get:

HOKE CLUBS VEST WIT A TRUMPYT

I assume he meant trumpet, and I think it's most likely a code name for an OSU recruit... I hope this doesn't mean the world is going to end.

Maybe THE_KNOWLEDGE will help us??

P.S. So what's everybody drinking?

and those recruits from Ohio to drive carefully. I felt the affection of Tom to all those recruits traveling to A2.

Well, we know now he meant to imply something else.

Vanilla Coke and Ruby Red Squirt. I'm an RA at a math/science camp at UM right now so I think walking down to Blue Front and buying Corona's and/or Guiness would be frowned upon.

Yuengling on tap. We don't have it in Ohio, so I'm drinking it up down here on vacation in Florida. BTW I'm surrounded by SEC people everywhere on the beach. I'm representing Michigan big time though. I've got a 9x9 Michigan tent up between an Alabama and LSU tent.

I gorge on Yuengling during my yearly family escape to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. How is that beer not available in Ohio? I have family living in the outskirts of Columbus, OH, and I was very frustrated that I couldn't find Yuengling there. It's definitely not available in my current home state of Wisconsin, and I get a hankering for it every now and then. I guess it's exclusively in PA and on the East Coast?

Appleton Estate Rum + South of the Border Coca Cola. Hecho in Mexico. No high fructose corn syrup, but rather straight sugar cane sweetness. I think it makes a difference, but maybe it's just my imagination.

Pure Sugar makes a huge difference in taste. I buy 3 or 4 cases of the Pepsi Throwback whenever it comes out. Wish Coke would do the same or make the kosher version more readily available.

BTW, wow is Justin Verlander good.

Some people swear they cannot tell the difference. I think it's like night and day. I'm a huge believer in the sugar cane, and it seems to really go well with the rum. It's one reason I have a Costco membership so I can stock up on Mexican Coke (Cola).

I second your Verlander observation. He's lights out and just toying with hitters. I think we are witnessing a very special season from him.

Patron and coffee. Just got back from Vegas so I'm having a bonfire in the backyard with my girlfriend next to the lake. Very romantic stuff.

CJ's Brewing Company, Commerce, Michigan. Not as good as Centennial, but very respectable, and $4.50 growler fills on Tuesdays ain't too shabby either.

Get yourself a REAL drink......

Blue Squared's classic Martini recipe:

1. Freeze your gin (My preference is Bombay Sapphire, but Tanqueray isn't bad)

2. Cut a slice of skin off of a lemon (expose the lemon flesh).

3. Rim two martini cocktail glasses with the back side of the lemon peel you just sliced off.

4. Pour a small amount of dry vermouth into the first glass.

5. Swirl the vermouth in the glass for a couple of seconds or four.

6. Pour the vermouth into the other martini glass and then into the sink.

7. Put two pimento-stuffed queen olives into each glass along with a lemon twist.

8. Put the glasses into the freezer.

9. Take the glasses and the gin out of the freezer 15 minutes later.

10. Pour the gin into the glasses.

11. Enjoy the world's best Martini!

12. For a variation put a couple of drops of Campari into the glasses after pouring out the vermouth.

13. Try to stand while you're sipping.

You can enjoy this if you're younger than 35, but be CAREFUL!
