Buckle Up

4-star safety, AJ Harris, out of Madison, AL will commit on Monday and states that UofM is his leader. Lorenz has put in a crystal ball as well.

UPDATE: Per some of the insiders boards it sounds like the staff is asking him to hold off on a commitment

At the moment, all we can hope for is that the seat belts still work around here, otherwise any actual unexpected or important commitments might cause some injuries that were otherwise easily preventable around here. As a mod, THAT is the sort of cleanup that is definitely above my pay grade here.

I won't put too much stock into it until either a) Alabama or Auburn offers, or B) he signs his LOI without an offer from either program.  There's plenty of time for either school to offer & jump ship ala Gareon Conley.  We may just be a place holder for now.  But, it's still nice to beat FSU (and hate to say it now Ole Miss) in a recruiting battle if only for now.

. "The chances of a team up north coming into our state and [signing] a player either us or Alabama wants are slim to none. It was just a matter of it being a big story."

I'm SURE neither Alabama nor Auburn (or any other Alabama program) wanted the 4* safety.  Had anybody down there actually offered this pathetic loser a scholly he surely would've stayed home right?

Eh, not to be the pesimist here....but Alabama hasn't offered, Auburn has shown no interest, and FSU is the main competion here (maybe not even). While I would be very happy to see him commit and love the fact we could eventually end up with another southern prospect, he probably isn't the best one to make those statments about.

Right. Auburn will always get more kids from the south than us, and I'm not saying an Auburn offer would be of no concern, just less of one than Bama. And a lot of the kids Auburn got that we offered were guys who were never going to leave the south. At least with Harris, we know committing to a school in the north is at least in the conversation. If Auburn offers, he'll have to decide which is more important - being on a contender or staying close to home. If Bama offers, he won't need to make that decision.
