The thing with Hoke only calling them Ohio at least had a couple reasons behind it, and it seemed to actually get under some people's skin.

This just seems like a lot of effort by OSU for something that Michigan really doesn't care about. It's like ummm ok, good for you I guess?

Yeah I mean it was, apparently he started saying it as a kid growing up in Ohio to irk his friends..

But their stadium is called Ohio Stadium, their band spells Ohio, their fans love to spell Ohio, and OSU once tried to cancel Ohio University's trademark of it's name "Ohio." So one could assume that maybe they do want to be called that ;)

Just saying I think there's some reasons why that makes a little sense, and it seems to bother some of their fans. The no using the letter M during the week of The Game just seems silly.

That is a really hilarious tidbit. They have an inferiority complex to Ohio University because they have to call themselves Ohio State! Ohio University is actually the oldest in the state, so I guess they just got dibs on the name and OSU just pretends they have it. Lot of psychological issues present in that link.

Why is it that every year the Ohio State fanbase seems to be on a quest to remove the letter "M" from existence and thereby turn the names of common objects into the names of obscure Toltec deities? I suppose I will never understand it. Would they choose "X" and not "M" in "Wheel Of Fortune" merely out of spite? I am curious now.
