Buckeye-geddon: 1-year bowl ban, 9 schollies, extra probation, JT Show Cause
One thread to rule them all;
One thread to find them (guilty of Major Violations);
One thread to bring them all (additional scholarship reductions);
And in Columbus bind them (during bowl season).
EDIT: Check, check, check, and check. Ohio will not be eligible for post-season play next year, which includes the B1G Championship game. The NCAA added 4 scholarship cuts to Ohio's self-imposed 5, and added a year of probation. Tressel also hit with a Show-Cause.
EDIT II: There is some confusion about the lost scholarships. My understanding is that 9 scholarships over 3 years means that they have to AVERAGE a maximum of 82 scholarships per year over the next three years, as opposed to the typical maximum of 85 per year.

that or he's pretty naiive and was lied to.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:01 PM ^
But he said we were going to get Les Miles as our coach!
December 20th, 2011 at 1:56 PM ^
Funny how a stern beatdown of Ohio and its jackboot marching fans leaves me wanting...more.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:05 PM ^
to jackboot marchers
December 20th, 2011 at 1:56 PM ^
At least they got a bowl ban, thank god. I'd like to hear about scholarships though, that will hurt more.
December 20th, 2011 at 1:58 PM ^
brionte?
December 20th, 2011 at 1:59 PM ^
By less than a minute! Nice work sir. You win... another beer? I've got nothing...
December 20th, 2011 at 2:37 PM ^
“He told me I didn’t have to worry about sanctions,” Dunn said. “Nothing worse is going to happen.”
lol
December 20th, 2011 at 3:00 PM ^
I've been trying to figure out for almost year now.
December 20th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
It appears to be the logo for the John Butler Trio. Figured I'd help you end your year long search.
If you use the Chrome browser, you can right click on any image and search google with it. Helps me every day.

Thank you, mdoc! I don't use chrome but apparenty I should start.

What does the 1 year bowl ban mean for Brionte Dunn!?!?!?
Did I win? What's the prize?
December 20th, 2011 at 2:11 PM ^
It means it'll be easier for Urban to talk him into redshirting?
Seriously, it depends on what he was told. If he was told "your career is safe, they aren't going to do anything that will damage the program going forward" I don't know why this would change his mind. If he was outright lied to things might be different.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:23 PM ^
I have nothing against Dunn but honestly we need to move on to the other great recruits that are interested in us. I can rest peacefully knowing that we had a great shot with him but that he was always leaning OSU (as his favorite school growing up) and that Urban Meyer had to lie to him to close the deal.
December 20th, 2011 at 1:58 PM ^
Muahhahahahahahha Mr. Meyer telling his recruits "Oh don't worry, won't be anything much on top of what we already have". LIAR.
December 20th, 2011 at 1:59 PM ^
NCAA:
We're taking Justin Borens snow plow away too!
December 20th, 2011 at 2:13 PM ^
I'm newly transplanted to the Columbus burbs and it is 47 degrees today. I have seen a grand total of 4 snowflakes so far. Not sure how anyone has a snow plow "business" down here. I had a busboy job when I was 12 that was more demanding.
December 20th, 2011 at 3:27 PM ^
Last winter was my first in Columbus, and I feel like we had 12 inches of snow all year, most of which was the same 6 inches that got crusted over with ice and refused to melt for a month.
We did have some of the most horrendous ice storms I've ever seen, but snow was, as they say, thin on the ground.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:00 PM ^
How I hate that school in Ohio. At least it's more than an ok, thanks for spanking yourself ruling.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:00 PM ^
edsbs twitter account sums it up perfectly:
not bad all and all for osu, but this is like catching chlymadia - its curable, but it still burns.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:01 PM ^
According to Ace's last update, OSU has 18 verbal commits. Any idea on how much room they have for next year's class? If they're near their limit, the schollie sanctions may mean recruiting is over for them very soon.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:19 PM ^
I'm pretty sure when the details come out, the scholarship reductions will begin next recruiting cycle. They could appeal as well, which seems like the arrogant thing for them to do.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
If appealing the decision is an arrogant thing for them to do, then consider it done.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:01 PM ^
Chris@11W Sure am glad I get to watch this 6-6 team with players that helped cause bowl ban play in the Gator this year. Nice work, Gene
December 20th, 2011 at 2:25 PM ^
That is the best part of this whole fiasco. Enjoy the gator bowl bucknuts!
December 20th, 2011 at 2:02 PM ^
Urban flat out lied to Dunn and all other recruits.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:13 PM ^
"It's not a lie if you believed it."
December 20th, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
Not sure what the lose of the Schollies really does when urban over signs anyways! OSU was suppose to have a small class this year and he's proving that wrong!
<br>Ohio = Bitch
December 20th, 2011 at 2:36 PM ^
But I believe Meyer/Florida were outspoken against the practice. And calling someone a bitch... come on now son, you can do better
December 20th, 2011 at 2:05 PM ^
then again, it is better than slap on wrist.
So we are not going to see Brionte playing in bowl game Jan. 2013? I feel so lost.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:49 PM ^
Yep, enjoy that bowl game, Mr. 150% Buckeye.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:59 PM ^
Mr. 75-80% Bowl Games.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:10 PM ^
from 2pm to 3pm was a tremendous fail.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:16 PM ^
The leak happened about ten minutes before the moratorium even started.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:18 PM ^
I hate the excuses I have heard from the Armpit State faithful this year. I can only imagine their excuses in the coming years if anything happens. No sanctions and we take care of them soley on a better coached team.
Go Blue! Screw the Suckeyes!
December 20th, 2011 at 2:10 PM ^
until Urban starts complaining about his health?
December 20th, 2011 at 2:15 PM ^
Nothing that a one-year medical leave can't cure.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:15 PM ^
Wait until he finds a osu masters student to have an affair with. Then his wife will force him to claim health issues again.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:31 PM ^
Will someone bring a "Urban Meyer doesn't care about his family" sign to the game next time it's in ann arbor?
December 20th, 2011 at 2:10 PM ^
whether he goes to Ohio or M (behind Fitz) so the one-yr bowl ban, which he somehow knew about, wouldn't affect him. Or maybe Brionte doesn't care about not going to a bowl in his freshman year. I could see Brionte thinking "it's all good" when told about these sanctions. He'll definitely be the stud/feature running back because they may not be able to recruit many more while he's there, while M is justifiably going to go after Ty Isaac.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:16 PM ^
December 20th, 2011 at 2:10 PM ^
Brionte, my young friend, never make a major decision based solely on what people say.
While you are spending the next few years lined up in a spread offense, ponder the fact that "Meyer" rhymes with "liar."
December 20th, 2011 at 2:27 PM ^
Yeah, whether or not a one year bowl ban will make a difference to Dunn if he were to redshirt, he has to be (or at least really should be) thinking that if Meyer lied about this, maybe he lied about how they will use him, too?
December 20th, 2011 at 2:10 PM ^
Go to Bucknuts and just read. It is fun and heartening. Oh the joy of soaking up the pain of a rival. AHHHHHH!
December 20th, 2011 at 2:14 PM ^
I prefer Hineygate: more delusional people, more shadenfreude.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:14 PM ^
Ohio State not likely to appeal sanctions. School will agree w NCAA about need to maintain higher standard.
Hahahaha.... right
December 20th, 2011 at 2:33 PM ^
Same Joe Schad that had Miles to Michigan? Whatever.
