Bubble-icious

Submitted by BigBlue02 on

So listening to SportsCenter, they just called out all of the bubble teams.  They said something to the effect of "it looks like none of the bubble teams want to go dancing" because of all the losses piling up the last 2 nights.  If everything keeps going well, we might only need to win 1 game from here on out.  I wouldn't suggest it and I hope we make a run at the BTT championship, but I couldn't have asked for much more the last 2 nights.  I forgot how excited I was 2 years ago....now it is all flooding back.  I can't wait to watch this team as it picks up steam the next couple years!

We have the opportunity to strike a huge blow against Sparty on Saturday.  There has been a direct correlation to our program tanking and Sparty's rise and Final Fours.  Saturday is the first chance in over a decade to slow that down and start the reversal.

Yes, it's fun to watch Bubble Watch and get happy because Baylor or Memphis lost.  Saturday is much bigger than just sneaking into the tournament in a year that it was unexpected.  It's about reclaiming a state rich in basketball talent.  Saturday's win obviously won't do it alone, but it could start an era where we don't care about Bubble Watch because we've been in since January.

For years I've heard basketball people call Michigan a sleeping giant.  Brady Hoke put it best: This is Michigan for God's sake.  This worrying about other bubble teams makes me uncomfortable.  Basketball starts in Michigan like football starts in Ohio.  So yes, I'll be excited when another bubble team loses, but I'm even more jacked about the opportunity that's presenting itself Saturday.   The next few days need to feel like Ohio State week in football because we're not going up against the basketball version of little brother; we're playing quite possibly the best program of the decade, with a lot of talent, who's trapped in a corner.

Go Blue.

Spot on.  Spot on.  Here's Izzo last night:

"We're gonna find a way to win on Saturday and get you back to where you belong," he told the crowd, "the NCAA Tournament."

"We will find a way to win" seems like a GuaranSheed to me.  Fuck Izzo.  Fuck all the talking he does to the media.  Fuck Sparty.

So much talking.  We just show up to play. Many teams have beaten Izzo this year despite his team "finding a way to win" or trying to find a way to win or trying to get back where they "belong."

It's as if he thinks other teams playing don't think they "will find a way to win."

I hope we run them out of Crisler.

Things have not gone well for bubble teams not named Michigan. Virginia Tech lost to Boston College. Clemson lost to Duke. Maryland lost to Miami.

Winner of Saturday's game has a huge advantage in terms of a tournament resume and might make it in.

I am so sick of Sparty-parties.  I don't even need to mention their record vs us in football or hoops the past few years.  We need to crush sparty on Saturday.  Then make a good showing in the B10 tourney and expect something better than a bubble seed.
