BTN2Go Help Needed

Submitted by Cookie Monster on

I travel a lot on weekends in the fall unfortunately, so I rely on BTN2Go to bail me out to see Michigan games.  I switched cable providers in the offseason and thought nothing of it as my current provider carries the BTN.  When I try to sign in to BTN2Go on either the app or a lapto, I get the same issue.  My new cable carrier (Cincinnati Bell Fioptics) is not listed as one of the main carriers, so I click through to the "Don't see your provider" option and select Cincinnati Bell Fioptics.  I get the message to click on the button below to return to the beginning and sign in.  The problem is there is no button on the app and on the laptop, it just takes me back to the start and my cable provider still isn't listed.

The website lists my cable provider as a legit option and the sign in process indicates that too.  Has anyone else had this problem and how did you get around it?  I contacted BTN2Go, but nobody replies to the live chat and I just get an automated email that doesn't address the issue if I email.

A lot cable providers will have a portal that you can log into to stream the channels live that they have deals with, which it sounds like BTN is one of them. Do you know if they have something like that? I know the big dogs do (Comcast, DirectTv, etc)

I would try your cable provider for info, if BTN support isn't replying.

I was considering Slingbox as my main TV provider but I didn't think they had BTN, therefore wouldn't have BTN2Go?  I ask this honestly as I haven't done a ton of research but was initially turned away when I didn't see a BTN option.  Any help on this would be much appreciated as I am still considering it and just going to the bar when games are on BTN.

Slingbox works as a cable box/dvr, so it gets channels from your cable service.

Just a warning with slingbox though; if you watch on a phone you have a $10 app you have to buy to watch. If you're on a computer there's also a $10 app or you can use a web browser and get shown ads when you connect. It's a bit of a ripoff after you pay $150 or $200 for the box.

The problem might be on the end of your cable provider. As an example: I have Comcast and HBOGo works fine on a computer, but I can't watch it on my PS4 app because Comcast does not support the app. So if your provider doesn't support those things you could be hosed. Last year I had tons of problems with btn2go period. To get around it I watched big ten through Comcast instead of through btn. So it would only work on your laptop, but that could be a reach around.

It may be to do with your browser settings. I've found (at least with Comcast) that the login process doesn't work with browsers that aren't accepting cookies. It takes you back to the start as you describe. Using a different browser usually works for me. I can't help you with the app though.
