BTN at Michigan today

Submitted by BigTenBurrito on

Might be the first opportunity for some legitimate, unbiased observations coming out of practice. Figure updates can be posted here as they become available.

FYI: Due to the late start to today's practice, the BTN Live show from practice will air tomorrow (8/16) from 5:00-6:30PM

For the past however many years they have been doing this, Gerry and Howard have always said that Michigan has a ton of talent on both sides of the line every year.  Enough talent to make them top 2/3 in the B10.  Which might be true in terms of individual talent but obviously it didnt work as a group for the O line.

They also said that Jake Ryan would be a breakout player/fresmen to watch way back in the day.  It is just good to hear from players and coaches during preseason camp.  August is the worst for me since football is so close yet so far and everyone is itching for football to start.

Yes, but I believe Michigan and PSU (where they were at on Saturday) will be combined on tonight's episode.  An hour and half instead of an hour, it's the BTN Live show.

They're excellent shows, though I know everybody makes fun of Dinardo and the other guy because everyone hates every announcer on every channel.  The OSU episode highlighted a few things: the depth isn't there on defense, and they've got a few other spots like OL and RB where injuries could really hurt them.  Maybe that's obvious to those who've read up on that team, I still like to see differing views.  Yes they said talent was all over, but they weren't as glowing as in past years.

I can't wait to get word as to how the uniforms have been holding up in practice. Surely Harbaugh's new custom khakis will put the electric, youtful jumpman uni's through their paces and keep them focused on overcoming MSU and OSU. Thus far, the away kits (I know) demonstrate the most wear given their natural disadvantage of only moderate colouration (I know), though Harbaugh's khakis insist that the brutal conditioning is necessary due to a difficult road schedule.

Sources are confirming that a helmet-button controversy is brewing due to strong competition between whether it is more appropriate to have the traditional M or the newer Jumpman logo. The coaching staffs' polos are silent as to who is likely to get the nod against the rainbow warriors--indicating that they would likely make an off-the-cuff decision just before kickoff depending on who performed better during practice.

Readers are hoping that the laundry machine will pause its spin cycle to provide answers to some of the more pressing questions: Will we get a clarification as to whether the football hats (i know) are matte, eggshell, or satin? And will they retain their lustour (i know) in both the noon-day sun and under the bright lights? Will the game balls, whose relevance to the game has, in recent months, been lost in obscurity, make a resurgance now that rumors of a possible Jumpman logo placement are swirling?

I don't watch them a ton, but the BTN guys seem either unwilling to talk about how a team might be bad or are unable to identify a bad team. I feel like every year they roll into Ann Arbor and just spew hyperboles for an hour and I specifically remember them talking about Michigan being back to man football or something...right before we went 5-7

I expect them to somehow over-exaggerate how good Michigan will be this year with little to no concern or criticism of the team

I'm surprised they aren't saying anything on twitter. That's usually their thing. It looks like they were pretty nonstop yesterday at Penn State. The show at 5 today will be even more +1 informative than normal if they don't even have anything to spew across social media yet. /s

I would agree with that with regards to defacing the bus, although I admit that I would chuckle if, in reference to their logo, a few people asked why an organization with the resources of the Big Ten network should drive around in a bus that had a gaping hole on its side. I think that might get a few people in Columbus at least a little upset....maybe.
