My mom doesn't watch or follow football at all. Yesterday I was telling her about Brock's story and how he is going to lead the team out next weekend. She's now coming out to my uncle's just to watch the beginning. If that doesn't tell you how awesome this story is, I don't know what will.

It will be a great moment for the whole Mealer (and Michigan) Family.  I have watched the E60 segment on Elliott on several different occassions, and get emotional every single time.  I hope that kid earns some playing time this year.  The chills when Brock leads the team out of that tunnel...

Its amazing what can be done with hard work and desire. Keep Working Brock! Can you imagine that feeling of him WALKING in front of everyone in the bighouse and leading the team (which your younger brother plays on). What a wave of emotion, and he has earned it and then some.

I am so glad that after every thing this young man has been through. He still has the courage to get out of bed. I have to say it is a reality check of what is really important in life. It is amazing what can be accomplished with the right attitude, determination, and the big hand of God.

I find it amazing that Barwis has the knowledge to help in rehab like this. Everyone knows he can train the elite athlete, but to help someone with regaining his ability to walk seems like it would be on the opposite side of training.

Brock's entrance will really put things in perspective. It's put things in perspective for all of us that have been following the story, but I can't wait to see the reaction of 109,901 fans who finally recognize how this program truly influences the lives of those that aren't necessarily on the football team.

I'm not normally a crier, but...

Everytime I watch him take a step I still get goosebumps and couldn't be happier for him and his family. While watching though, I still get this image in my mind on opening day he is going to throw those canes to the side and do a backflip. Maybe not realistic but I hope he keeps working as this is an inspiration for everyone.

I sure hope the national television crew, as well as the in-house crew give this ALL the attention it is due come game day  I can't imagine they wouldn't.

...ESPN is already on the story:

KevinShaw23 Just finished shooting @brockmealer today [Aug 24] w/ Canon 7D @michigan_fball. They told him he'd never walk again. Just wait till next Saturday...

Kevin Shaw is a documentary filmmaker and producer of show openers and music videos for ESPN, ABC, Cablevision and the NBA.  His latest work was the documentary The Street Stops Here, the story of Bob Hurley's career as the basketball coach at St. Anthony's in Jersey City.

My guess is that ESPN will have updated its E:60 piece on the Mealers with new footage of Brock's workout regimen.  I'm sure it will be quite the production.

The Adam Taliaferro story from psu keeps coming back to me.  I can still vividly remember how watching him lead his team onto the field made me feel that day, and that was with no real vested interest in him or the team.  I have a feeling that what I witness next saturday is going to be one of those things I tell the grandkids about one day.

I'm hoping to get a ticket to the game, so I can see Brock lead the team out of the tunnel.  Something that my brother and I were talking about that we think would be way cool, is to start a cheer,

"Brock Mealer clap, clap, clap, clap, clap. Brock Mealer clap, clap, clap ,clap, clap."

I get goosebumps just thinking about it!

Go Brock and Go Blue!!!
