Yesterday, I provoked a bit of fun with the (true) news that the possible pot/paraphernalia charges (misdemeanors) were dropped. I never thought that the story was a big deal (and I said as much), but I also thought that it was funny as hell, to picture the mom of a 6'2" 220-lb. Ohio State freshman football player pleading with cops on the street in Alliance, Ohio that the pot in the car was already there. I still think so. It's a funny story. Of course, no one should have ever jumped to any grand judgments about Dunn, Urban Meyer or Ohio State in any event.
Now, honesty and fairness demands an update to the story, from the Twitter News Network. And I am more than happy to supply it. Via a Tweet of a statement originating from one Brion Dunn, father to Bri'onte:
Brionte Dunn's drug test in Columbus comes back clean his father said. Story upcoming on http://cantonrep.com
If there's more to the story, that's fine. And actually, the facts as currently presented (misdemeanor traffic violation; allegation of drug paraphenalia, dropped; drug test, passed) all makes it hard for me to picture what discipline, if any, Meyer might propose. I expect that at this time, it is all left up to the team. Meyer can demand a non-legal explanation from Dunn what went down, and he can give him a stern talking-to about the kind of publicity it all brought to OSU football. "Team rules" are different from violations of Ohio law.
Update: The Canton paper updates:

What does Bri'onte Dunn have to do with MGoBlog? We recruited him and his cousin is Dymonte?
