Per Sam Webb's twitter, no visit this weekend. Not a good sign for Michigan and Brionte.
Edit: After further research, it seems he may be visiting in January. Seems he's serious about not being EE. Sorry if I panicked you although this is still news for the fervent Brionte watchers.
Brionte Dunn Not Visiting UM This Week
That'll ruin a guy's day!
Bring on Ty Isaac for 2013.
Im with you. Bring on Mr Isaac. I think he is better anyways. Id love to get Dunn, bit I believe Isaac is a bettee back.
Ya know how when something bad happens to Ohio State and we get all schadenfreudey and visit Bucknuts and go all lolzcats about their warped-&-narrow-and-incapable-of-being-self-critical perspectives spin how that bad thing actually ain't even a thing?
Comparatively speaking, now how do you feel about what you just did?
And before answering "but this is different"--thereby proving my point precisely--try to recognize that is the least logical retort conceivable.
Wonder what happened.
Dunn deal, Brionte is going to OSU
we need to remember that as much as we want brionte, he isn't a 5 star kind of guy. he's a great recruit, not a program changer.
Except the consensus is that it isn't a bad thing at all for Michigan. Dunn is not enrolling early anymore. It will allow the OSU visit to wear off a bit, it will allow us to have the last visit in his mind right before he decides, etc.
There is consensus that he WILL visit, just not this weekend.
I'm with you, I would like for this kid to come to UM but at the end of the day if he doesn't want to come the greatest school ever, then, that's his problem. I remember going through something similar with Terelle Pryor and we all see how that worked out. Not saying that Dunn will pull the same crap that TP did, just saying.
To post a train wreck of a comment is one thing, but to post one referring to whatever that building is as Glick Fieldhouse is an entirely different matter. Well done sir.
We will be okay. He was not going to take any carries from Fitz anyway.
I agree, him not early-enrolling is makes his timeline much longer. The biggest question is whether Hoke is still gonna do the in-home this week.
But this definitely is not good news if he does not rescehdule in the coming weeks.
For saying we need to have patience? Some of you need to get a grip on what a negative post is.
I would love for this guy to be a wolverine next year, but I think it's time that I quit trying to follow along. This has been a never ending roller coaster ride since Kalis committed to us. Just let me know when it's over and he's made a decision either way best of luck to the kid.
I hope he is not awed by TD Jesus.....
come to me my son
With touchdown Brian

So is it safe to unbuckle until after the bowl season?
Looks like the weeks until signing day will be a bumpy ride;
At least we're not on decommitt suicide watch like Sparty/PSU!
I may be mistaken but I thought Chesson is supposed to commit next week. So, give your seat belt a week off. Then... BUCKLE UP.
If there's not, there should be.
get Burbridge. That would be AWESOME!!! A nice FU to Sparty.
Sparty should be pissed but PSU should feel lucky that they are still playing football.
Am I the only one who is not overwhelmed by his film?
MGoUser: "You're just bitter because he's waivering on his imaginary commitment to us."
was not overly impressive to me. He looked a little slow, but I just deferred to people with ACTUAL football knowledge saying he was very talented!
Dunn looks a little more of a long strider once he gets into the open field. No one will mistake him for a Darren Sproles-type back.
A-Train or Eddie George come to mind watching his film.
Remember you have to take high school film with a BIG shot of your alcoholic beverage of choice due to the variability of the quality of the opposition. Running for 400 yards against future doctors/lawyers/teachers is one thing, putting that up against a defense stocked with D1 athletes is completely different.
This is a d*** measuring contest between OSU and us. We're all so emotionally wrapped up in this because many people see this kid's recruitment as the ultimate chance to vindicate that "we're back" on OSU's level, Urban Meyer or not.
In reality, with the offensive line we'll be fielding by the time Fitz graduates we won't need STAR POWER to have an effective running game. This is something that has been pointed out repeatedly.
I want Dunn as badly as everyone else but there is no doom and gloom whatsoever if he doesn't come here. The thought that we're even in the running for a lifelong OSU fan who is being heavily recruited by the "hottest" coaching hire since Nick Saban is all the validation that we need that we're back to being relevant.
I don't think his film is extremely impressive, but that's largely because he's not the type of running back to be extremely impressive. He's not very shifty, he's not super fast, he doesn't make quick cuts, etc. He's an old-fashioned running back. The comparison I keep making is that he reminds me of Anthony Thomas. Anthony Thomas wasn't the most exciting back in Michigan history, but he got the job done for some very good Michigan teams, and then had an average career in the NFL. Dunn might not be a Heisman winner or a future #1 pick, but he could be a very poweful weapon behind the offensive line that Michigan is building for the next 4-5 years.
Maybe similar to John Clay from Wisconsin?
Would love to have him, but its not the end of the world if he stays with OSU. I think Fitz will be the better back in the enjar future anyways, thus we have time to get our RB recruiting game up.
On a side note, I would rather he be at OSU than say MSU or Wisconsin. Those two schools would use him much more effectively and would be a much more scary prospect.
John Clay was fat.
OSU does a pretty good job with running backs. Eddie George, Maurice Clarett, Beanie Wells, etc. I think they're better at producing backs than MSU and Wisconsin. Wisconsin just gets a huge offensive line that can turn any given back into a superstar, the way Texas Tech did for quarterbacks.
Do you have a good set of highlights from him that cover more than one or two games? I keep finding single-game highlights.
That's the best one I've found to date as far as showing his workload. What I've felt is basically what Magnus layed out above. He clearly has ability and has a better shot than most recruits of being a good RB at the D1 level. However, I haven't seen anything that has waranted people freaking out over him. Not how much this board has atleast. But that's probably a function of the OSU vs. U-M element more than anything (as another poster pointed to up this sub-thread). If he does some stuff like this in an AA game, then I think the daily threads would be waranted.
I'm not climbing aboard the roller-coaster. If he comes here, fine. If he doesn't, I'm not going to spend one second moaning about it.
February 1st, 2012 - NSD!
but if we don't, keep in mind - he won't be utlized properly in the spread - so his impact will be much less. I am still hoping Rawls is the second coming of A-Train...
The A-Train had 549 yards, 5 rushing TDs, 22 catches for 219 yards and 8 kickoff returns for 200 yards his freshman year. Rawls not so much.
Not sure Dunn is the next A-Train either, but I have a tremendous desire to consume Ohio's milkshake.
I already put all my hope in the 2013 Ty Isaac basket. Dunn would be a nice get and I would somewhat annoyed if he couldn't get him...However, I feel like Isaac is a must get for next year more so than Dunn this year.
I agree, we do not want a Yuri Wright situation wear the Unviersity is too focusssed on finals and not focussssed on showing him how great the Unvriestiy really is.
NEEDS MOAR ESSES
Seriously, I'll be happy when NSD comes around. I am getting stressed out the more I check this blog. I just want to have the class wrapped up so I can go back to my normal life until spring practice. This season has been absolutely fantastic...fantastic to the point it's been exhausting. I just need to see who will be in the maize and blue next year then I can bide my time until Opening Day/Spring ball since I don't have a pro team to watch anymore since the Cleveland Browns are on the verge of putting a roof over their stadium and calling themselves an arena team in hopes of making those playoffs.
I recognize the kid's talent, but to me -- it was more about looking right into the The Pontif's eyes, and saying "Your days of getting whomever you choose are over. Ohio is open."
No word from the NCAA on sanctions means no decision from Dunn. If they go easy on Ohio (which all signs indicate they will), I'm afraid the kid isn't coming north.
i think dunn is waiting for the ncaa ruling. he would be foolish not to wait, imo. the EE status is of little importance to choosing the right school for him. seems pretty obvious to me that he wants to go to osu provided they don't get hammered hard by the ncaa. though i wouldn't want to make a living on predicting high school kids' decisions.
If this were another decent 2012 RB who was a solid 4 star committed to another school, I doubt we would dedicate dozens of board discussions.
Fact of the matter is, running back is an important position, yes, but Dunn's commitment or lack thereof, will not make or break our class, or playing season.
I think the only thing that interests me (and surely others) about his recruitment is the prospects we may possibly take another OSU recruit...and this time, from Urban Meyer.
Don't get me wrong...I'd love to see "Dunn" on the back of a jersey below a winged helmet next season, but if he doesn't, I'm sure Hoke and co. will set their sights on an excellent 2013 RB, because we're Michigan, fergodsakes.
I doubt he reads Mgoblog and noones personally attacking or scrutinizing him. We've just taken great interest from afar.
I'm not the droid you're looking for?
I'm not disputing anything you've said...was this meant to reply to another comment?
Meant to reply one below to OntarioBlue. Not sure how that happened.
I don't know about that - remember all the Dillon Baxter threads?
Yes, I do. Go on...?
Just commenting on his statement that if it were a kid committed to another school we wouldn't have so many threads about it. This Dunn situation reminds of what happened with Baxter only Dunn appears to actually have more interest in Michigan. Point: we'll obsess about pretty much any talented kid, it's what we do.
Point taken. Keep in mind, Baxter was a consensus 5* guy/top 20 prospect with an amazing offer sheet. I'm not saying Dunn is not good, but Baxter was an excellent, top 20 prospect...to bad his behavior didn't match his talent.
I guess my point was I think the biggest reason we are so excited for this kid is that we might "steal" him from OSU...after all, he was viewed as a "bonus" to this class. I just don't think we should fret if he decides not to come, because there are prospects elsewhere in the 2013 class.
he has a tough decision. His childhood favorite versus the hated rival. His cousin is already committed so is his best friend. I think he just wants to step back, collect his thoughts, then make the right decision. I am willing to wait for him, because in the end his head will win over his heart and he will be wearing the maize and blue.
is overplayed. Look at the Borens, the whole family turned coat in matter of days.
If we get him, great. If we don't, but we close with Garnett/Kozan/Diamond, Chesson/Payton, Reeves, Wright, and Grant I can't really complain.
much more about beating Ohio for his services, than Dunn himself. It's weird saying that about a boarderline 5-star, top 10 RB kid. However, his film is very unimpressive. He has Wheatley and Chris Perry size, however he doesn't appear to have their speed. On the other hand, Ty Isaac looks like a Wheatley clone to me.....
Chris Perry had speed? Not that I saw. Sure, he broke a couple long runs in his four years of significant contributions, but he was more of a pounder than anything else. If you look through his stats, he pretty consistently had long runs of 15 or 16 yards. Out of 811 career carries, he only had 5 that went for over 40 yards. By comparison Toussaint has 5 carries of 40+ yards in his 174 career attempts. Wheatley had at least 9 in 688 attempts.
Perry was pretty much an average running back who was blessed to run behind a large, talented offensive line.
Great to look at the numbers. Your probably right on Perry's speed. My point is that to me Dunn doesn't apprear to have the speed or footwork of a top 10, 4-5 star back. I'm not claiming to be Sam Webb or Trieu. However, Ty Isaac looks like the complete package!
No doubt Ty Isaac is better than Dunn, but he's not a sure thing if we don't get Dunn either. If we get Dunn this year, we know we have one solid running back between those classes. If we don't get Dunn or Isaac, that would be a bummer. A bird in the hand, and so on.
That said, aside from Isaac, I bet we have lots of 2013 RB options if we don't get Dunn.
I wouldn't rate Dunn as a 5-star back, but I think a 4-star is pretty accurate. As for being top 10 at his position, I think it depends on who's ahead of him. In my opinion, I think it's kind of a down year for running backs nationally, so I can see why some services think he ranks pretty highly.
i don't think "average" college backs (or avg backs at UM) make it to be a high round pick in the NFL.
freaked me out, dude.
than a free trip, what does he have to lose by announcing? He would be an immediate hero, with all the tattoos, entitlements and other perquisites that a verbal commit confers down there.
If he has even the slightest thought of going Blue, I could easily see how he might be reticent to voice that until it was time.
If he just needs some drama in his life, I'll just reference my posts relative to a particular qb who chose that place.
I feel the most likely is simply that he wants to wait for the boy's club to decide whether or not tsiO even did anything wrong, and what awards they might hand out. I can appreciate and applaud waiting for facts to unfold prior to making important decisions.
on Pittman's decommitment from S mentions that Pharaoh Brown is a option for State in this class. I would love it if Hoke and Co would pull A Burbridge to our side!
What went wrong with Standifer? I know is wasnt bad grades.
This smells familiar.....
Well... I suppose if Dunn gets into a fights after basketball games during his senior year, that'd be a good indication!
What makes everyone so confident with Ty Issac? Urban Liar just offered him, to go along with every other school in the country.
I'm not confident about Isaac, and I'm not convinced that missing Dunn helps us all that much with Isaac. Really elite recruits tend not to worry too much about depth charts. They just figure that they'll sit atop it no matter who else is there. The competition for Isaac will be intense, and I think the probability that we get him is far below 50%.
Also, as a heads up, names like "Urban Liar" are frowned upon here - and for good reason. I'd drop that stuff. It really isn't funny or creative, and it's the kind of thing that makes people roll their eyes when they are exposed to other fanbases.
made me laugh, considering your username...

Tired of hearing about him. If he comes, fine. If not, fine.
I want to hear about recruits that want to play for Michigan.
boom goes the dynamite
Was Brionte able to EE at UM? I thought the reason why Taylor McManara ruled out UM was because he couldn't be an EE...does Brionte's decision put Taylor back in play?
It was not that McManara could not be an EE, but it is that he wouldn't be able to EE at UM. The timetable for visiting, talking to the coaches, and getting comfortable with the program (if we wanted to come here) would of all taken way too long if he was going to EE. At least that is how I understand it, but either way the answer on McManara is still no.
Anybody else tired of these kinds of posts? Sick of hearing, he's not visiting so by default he's going to OSU. Relax peeps, he's coming to Michigan. Bank it! (probably ;) )
I don't have enough points to post. Could someone start a new thread and embed this video.
I think the allure of Dunn is more intoxcating over the fact of stealing him from ohio. Ive heard that hes all that and ive heard thats hes not. UM is pretty set at RB for atleast another year with Fitz and hopefully Rawls and Hayes will step right in next season. The addition of Drake Johnson seems to me like a RB everyone looked over due to his major involvement in track. Being a pretty big kid now and almost rushing for 3000 yards his senior season at Pioneer im sure UM will put a few more lbs on him to give him more power. I can see this kid being better then Dunn. Definetly not the end of the world if he Dunn doesnt committ to ][V][.
Ummm.....this just came over twitter...

On a related recruiting note, I do like seeing tweets like this, though:
@Dymonte1 Ohio State just offered me. Haha but its to late now im Blue Nation now!
