Mount St. Mary's hired a private equity CEO to be their president. You'll never guess what happened next.
Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl Open Thread
And absurdity, of bowl season.
Makes my impulse buying and football watching much more efficient. I just secured a 30-year fixed at 5.1% over on the Franklin American Mortgage thread (only cost me 2 points!). Hoping to earn an Associates degree over here. Maybe in medical billing. CAD design, perhaps. Dunno. Maybe I'll wait till 3rd quarter to declare my major.
Or bought a helicopter?
In an upset over themselves
confidence pick, with Nebraska over UW. Unfortunately I forgot about the dang bracket until it was locked and all my picks were in order. Ugh. Now I know why I never gamble, I feel like Sisyphus.
I'll miss the cgi whales flopping out of the ocean like dolphins with rocket boosters attached to their behinds during the Pacific Life commercials.
Please tell me I am not an army of one on this?
I was a fan too. Much better than getting an MBA online.
Jet propelled marine mammals.
(Cue hockey vid)
Will be effectively over by the time the other one ends.
Not so fast
Bridgeport Education has taught me to drink Vernors and Capt Morgans this fine evening...god bless those bport education people.
OMG never tried it...but am right now and very yummy!!!
It's cream soda-ish!!!
I miss the whale and his terrifying drinking game.
Sec 0-1, Big 12 1-3. Is that right?
how does a 10-2 team get matched up with a 6-6 team?
I think it's because the Holiday Bowl is supposed to match the Big 12 and the Pac 10. And other than Oregon and Stanford, the Pac 10 is GOD awful.
Would you say that the ACC is better, overall, than the Pac 10?
In the bowls so far. Do have the VT/Stanford match-up still. (Miami/ND becoming kind of intriguing tomorrow).
Do you cheer for the cocky felons (Miami) or the arrogant ones (ND)...
Better? I don't know. They're about at an equal level of suck.
Ouch. Thanks. I love your videos.
Do i cheer for for the underdog in washington? Making the Big 12's bowl record even worse?
Or cheer for Nebraska cause they are essentially apart of the Big 10?
Never cheer for Nebraska. Never!
How important is Todd McShay's happiness to you? I'm rooting for Nebraska based solely on my hatred of his humungous ties.
I'll have trouble deciding which B10 coach I dislike more: Beilema, D'Antonio, or Pellini. Go Huskies.
Just curious what you have against Pellini already?
very kind to chewing gum.
In all seriousness, he and Carl were asses when Texas beat them last year. Tough loss, but suck it up. They were asses again when they were called for something like 15 penalties against A&M early this year. Again, tough loss, but when the Chancellor of your university calls you out publicly, you've crossed the line. The incident with Martinez on the sideline in that same game is another one that sticks out ... guy just strikes me as a hot-headed ass.
Indeed. But Pelini is also a former Buckeye. So he sucks regardless.
Skip ahead to 5:32 to see Greg McMurtry burn Pelini for a TD bomb in Columbus...
closed, then. Bo Pellini, owned by Greg McMurtry and, to add injury to insult, now officially at the top of PhillipFulmersPants' most disliked B10 coaches for 2011.
Thanks for the footage!
uconn's womens bball team is down 6 with 3:35 to go over on The Deuce
can't say I did.
You know, if you have ESPN, odds are you have ESPN2. If you wanted to see it, with all your promotion of it ESPN, we'd have switched. Because I'm sure your bowl audience is the same. Stop shoving it down our throats.
Of course, this probably means start the Stanford coach to Michigan rumors. I don't know if it's for women's basketball, or men's basketball, or football.
Washington ahead, 10-0. I didn't think the first quarter would look quite like this.
I'm counting NE as part of the B1G already. Go huskers.
But this MAY be the last time I'll ever root for the Children of the Corn. (I'd say the first, but I actually used to like them vs. the Miami's, FSU's, Oklahoma's of the world, before they sold their soul to stop losing bowl games).
Makes you wonder how bad Texas must be to go 5-7.
There have been 32 Holiday Bowls. The Dog has covered in 22 of them with 12 outright upsets
UW up 10-0 after one quarter?
Sounds about right
They're already preparing for Big 10 play!!! :)
I wish the Big Ten still had a tie-in to the Holiday Bowl. San Diego is a great destination.
tie in to the Pinstripe Bowl. I would love to see a Big Ten team play a Pac Ten or SEC team in the cold north during bowl season.
Team in. Not to play the (logical for the Bowl) Big East team.
San Diego a great town, different than 8 Florida destinations or whatever we're up to, and usually had an interesting match-up (I know it's marquis, but I don't want to okay the SEC EVERY year). That old tie in, and the Alamo for two worse Texas bowls and the Gator not necessarily upward moves. Though I at least like the Gator's long history...if only they could move the game.
loves Fellner's aggressiveness! Personal foul Vol-style!
Across the board, the bowl games today have been ugly in terms of penalties and misplays.
Failed attempt at it by Washington after Locker gets knocked out of the game.
Also, medical staff said Locker will be back in the game.
COME ON NEBRASKA. I'm currently tied for first in my office pool and I have 34 confidence points riding on this game!
I have Nebraska too and I haven't gotten one right yet!!!!!!
We need some of those!
4 DBs in the incoming class, plus the gaggle of freshman, Woolfolk, and Floyd. We'll sort it out eventually.
martinez needs to quit floating it, he's throwing gifts up there for washington. the td was almost picked off for the same reason. put some zip on the damn ball
Under 2 minutes in the 2nd quarter, Huskies by 3.
Locker is 0-7 in the first half. Huskies miss the FG with :02 left.
How on Earth is Jake Locker a top NFL prospect? I've watched him play about 10 times in his career and I've never seen him have a good game passing.
IMO this Nebraska team will be much worse next year. They can potentially lose quite a bit to the NFL. The O looks absolutely horrendous. This is the same washington team that gave up 28 to WSU.
This game is going like the MGoBoard today....wrong.
Where the hell have you been all night? Place has been going crazy.
I love bowl games! Woo Hoo!!!!
You know, had to meet with the pusher man, relocate nuclear silos, punch in new launch codes, and dig my nuclear fallout shelter for the coming war.
Vitamin C. Need all I can get. Then I went around back to pick up some pure adrenochrome. New Year's is gonna be epic.
Don't take much. Just a tiny taste.
But the two best games since Sunday night have been while you were gone, so if this game turns dull, I'm going to have to ask you to leave.
(though I was amused by the one thread wondering where your bombs were, and it was theorized you weren't around because you were posting after 3 am...isn't it nice when you're noticed?)
What post was that? I am now feeling like I am under watch by the Gestapo.
edit: I was listening and watching the games on ESPN Radio and the NC vs Tenn game on TV. I needed the break from the explosion of stupidity that plagued the MGoBoard.
It was too early for me too, so I read it to get a gist of what was said because I haven't had time for a podcast with all the bowls.
You aren't a mod by any chance, are you?
It's a thankless job, and I can turn myself into a villain without the extra help. Not that they'd want me anyway. I'd never delete any boobie pics. But then I'm emotionally 12. (I take my football seriously, but not much else). Besides, you'd probably have to bring more substantial content than I do (and not snicker at so many charts). Open Threads are my niche, I know what I'm good at, and my limitations.
Formerlyanonymous and Misopogon do great jobs at it, and have the requisite respect from everyone, and temperament for it. I kid them sometimes, because I have a who watches the watchmen mentality, but they really do a thankless job for free. At least Brian gets a buck or two for putting up with us morons.
Daaaaang clutch 3rd down conversion by Locker! Way to complete a pass champ!
And on the next play, he runs in for the score.
After seeing how bad the Big 12 is do you think Uconn has a shot?
Maybe. I'm at least loving the points right now.
This spread was a trap. Nebraska coming off losing their last title shot in their old conference (to their old rival), after losing their revenge game to Texas too, gets bumped to a lesser bowl vs. a team they've already played (and is looking for payback for the throttling they received), just had UP v. DOWN written all over it. The Corny ones can still win, but they were never covering.
I am no longer feeling worried about playing Nebraska...o wait...another transition year...yes I am, along with ND, Western Michigan, and the Saint Mary's School of the Blind.
Harbaugh will never break our perfect record vs. the Sisters of the Poor or the School of the Blind.
I dunno. Washington is beating Nebraska, and nuns are pretty tough ladies. There seems to be a jhackney hater surfing through this thread too. Haters gonna hate.
Neg-bombing is a mighty expensive business since the institution of the lose-one-point-per-neg rule. If all else fails, drop me a line and I'll give you a big ol' pos-bang hug.
I think I am good for now. I don't know why a lot of people concentrate so much of their fustration on me. I only post an item that take 4 inches up on their screen. Some people take message boards much too seriously. It is rather sad. I only go after the anti-intellectuals and CC threads. I don't understand why people have grown so angry with me. I don't coach defense or bump uglies with their mothers.
THAT'S what i've been doing wrong.
And don't worry, I'm still in the bowl game/mobile response part of my posting. I get online to do something else, or just open up the actual page at slower times and go back and plus all the great posts I neglect during game action.
I figure whoever negged me is now closer to not bring able to post than I am, and I'm ok with that. I'd give a lot of points if it meant some others couldn't post.
Well, that, and the fear it strikes into the hearts of men.
What happened to the Nebraska OL? Off the steroid cycle?
Sack on third down, shanked punt, and the Nebraska D can't stop the run. Not looking good.
Denard for the win!!!
Nebraska has a guy on D named Dennard. I thought that was kind of cool.
Washington for the upset!
Bo Pelinie has done as good as a job as a person with no elbows that must walk on their elbows. Nebraska is no threat to the B1G.
Nebraska can hang out with Penn State and scheme to divvy up the Big Ten between them. A pincer movement from East and West will cut the conference in half. Classic military strategy.
Well it is 2am and I am intoxicated by a number of things. I absolutely hate PSU and hope they die a fiery death. Pelini has been exposed to be a chump by a far inferior team tonight. it shows how weak the Big 12 was this year and how much of a chance we have at beating them like red headed step children next year.
Bet there's some serious entertainment on there!
LOL! My 10 year old son goes " thats their first safety since 2003?" and starts cracking up..
Nebraska is living up to Big Ten tradition ...losing to an underdog Pac 10 team in a bowl game. At least the SEC is sucking so far.
Another sack?? That's like 5 so far for Washington!
And somewhere, THE KNOWLEDGE is smirking, wondering why Bill Martin didn't listen to his impeccable source on Sarkisian.
It's not over yet, here comes Nebraska
Meets our defense? It's kinda the opposite of the irresistible force vs. The immovable object.
(the resistible force vs. the movable object?)
Their O was good in the regular season when Martinez was healthy. In this game, I think they just didn't want to be here and didn't put in the prep work.
Or will Pelini go with the guy in Cyan?
kid sucks. Makes you appreciate what Tate did in a backup role this year.
yup, greens been missing wide open receivers that whole drive.
its nice to not have to worry about our backup, at least for the moment
You did get the news about Tate, right?
Must be the time of year
Can't wait until our backup defenders make game making plays like that!
Yeah way to get hit in the head with the ball
It's a start!
Huskers turn over the ball on downs when Martinez' pass hits Washington's corner in the helmet. 3 minutes remaining, Washington up 19-7.
Way to storm into the Big 10, Huskers. Losing to a 6-6 Pac 10 team. LOL. God I hate Nebraska.
but here goes:
That is all.
Washington players came to play, Nebraska was overconfident. Good thing Locker finished his career out as a winner.
No sacks, no turnovers only a couple penalties. You'll win a lot of games doing that.
Best thing I've seen in the football games today...
