Srlsy?

Thanks for the heads up, and I'm not saying that to be a jack ass.
December 30th, 2010 at 9:06 AM ^
hold my calls - i have to tend to this important memo or something
December 30th, 2010 at 9:32 AM ^
...Brian's comments:
- If they bring in Jim/Bo, recruiting will be ok. Much of class will stay, some of Stanford's class will switch
- Zettel's PSU choice doesn't logically equate to unease over CC since he could have just waited another week, plus PSU's HC situation is as unsettled or more than Michigan's
- That said, he doesn't understand the HC decision delay
December 30th, 2010 at 10:13 AM ^
Perhaps Zettel's unease is over the possibility of RR staying, and not wanting to play in the 3-3-5.
Perhaps he is committing to Penn State to hedge his bets. Perhaps if the change happens, he might flip back to MICH.
/E-speculation.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:37 AM ^
It's not like PSU is short on scholarships right now given their class only had 7 without him...he could have waited the week.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:56 AM ^
And I agreed with Brian. The timing, and nature, of Zettel's decision suggests, on its face, that uncertainty over future coaching had nothing to do with it. Pro, or con.
Brian said something so simple and so obvious, I wonder why more people don't say it: Anthony Zettel made the same decision a lot of kids have over the years: They wanted to "go away to college."
Zettel made his decision before anybody knows who Michigan's coach will be. Before anybody knows what sort of defensive scheme might be rusn at Michigan. And by the time Zettel is an upperclassman, who the freak knows who PSU's coach will be? The rather obvious overriding factor is that Zettel wanted to go away to college. Pure and simple. He saw something he liked, at State Penn. God only knows what that might be. I'll never understand it. But Zettel didn't ask me. He just didn't want to go to Michigan, or even Michigan State.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:59 AM ^
E-gree with what you wrote here as well. There may be a "style of play" component at work here, but also, he might just want, like Madonna, to get the hell out of Michigan.
I grew up in Racine, Wisconsin, and the year I was graduating high school was when the Badgers had a star running back from my high school winning the National Player of the Year award (Brent Moss) and they went to the Rose Bowl. (For what it's worth, this is also John Clay's high school).
Despite that, the last thing I wanted to do was go to Madison. I had to get out of Wisconsin, I just needed a change.

Anthony Zettel
"Over my vacation I came to reality," Zettel said. "Then every day it just grew and grew, so I was 100-percent sure."
"Just a great education there, the family atmosphere that they have and great coaching," Zettel said when asked what set PSU apart. "They teach their players to be good guys and good football players."
“I liked Michigan, I just didn’t feel like the chemistry was there as much as Penn State,” Zettel said.
This decision was mostly about coaching and especially scheme. He has basically said he does not want to play in the 3-3-5. You can't really blame Zettel for choosing PSU. Michigan's coaching situation is not good right now. Not only is there questions surrounding our head coach, but there are also questions surrounding pretty much ALL of our defensive coaches and they are the ones Zettel was most concerned about.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:06 AM ^
He said nothing at all about not wanting to play in the 3-3-5. You might want to adjust the perscription on your glasses when you're reading between the lines.
December 30th, 2010 at 1:29 PM ^
"I like the coaches and the chemistry," could just as well be, "I like the breathtaking views of Mt. Nittany," or "I like the fancy uniforms," or "There's a girl in Pennsylvania who's stolen my heart."
The point is, there's nothing specific from Zettel, and nothing implied, that would make anyone suspect that Coach Rodriguez, or Coach Robinson, or 3-3-5 schemes, were what drove Zettel's decision.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:33 AM ^
Exactly. Michigan will have a hard time convincing any star D-line recruit to come in and spend 4 years getting double-teamed by B10 lineman on every play. That's a hard sell.
December 30th, 2010 at 9:34 AM ^
IT'S ALL LLOYD CARR'S FAULT. Jesus, this guy is a moron
December 30th, 2010 at 9:38 AM ^
...moron and MSU troll. Send MSC and DB to MSU to take an ethics class? Full throated attack on LC and his daughter?
December 30th, 2010 at 9:40 AM ^
I hope Brian posts what he was thinking during that call...I'd have loved to see his, Ira, and that other guy's faces
December 30th, 2010 at 9:46 AM ^
Send MSC and DB to MSU to take an ethics class?
I agree....how does someone say this with a straight face?
December 30th, 2010 at 11:00 AM ^
Todd from Riverview, please go jump in the Detroit river.
December 30th, 2010 at 9:37 AM ^
I don't listen to WTKA much, but I've never realized how whacko some of the callers are.
December 30th, 2010 at 9:40 AM ^
I was just thinking the same thing.
December 30th, 2010 at 9:41 AM ^
...unanimous!
December 30th, 2010 at 9:46 AM ^
Me four!
....Oh we weren't doing that were we
December 30th, 2010 at 9:46 AM ^
Uh oh. They talked about CC. Someone freak out.
December 30th, 2010 at 9:48 AM ^
...then.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:03 AM ^
Ok, you guys win, but it's not a string of go crazy posts without Homer.
December 30th, 2010 at 9:53 AM ^
...the whole team will be more like UConn than the end of the season, Brian.
December 30th, 2010 at 9:55 AM ^
...Michigan due to Denard's improved health and the performance of the Big Ten so far this bowl season.

We have Great Leader's blessing. Repeat. We have Great Leader's blessing.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:04 AM ^
Or is it the Big Show?
December 30th, 2010 at 10:12 AM ^
Can we nominate Brian for his own four-hour, Sunday morning slot on WTKA? He has been a guest enough that he has transitioned into someone who now sounds like a radio professional. Maybe they could try him out on post-football Sundays next season.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:52 AM ^
I would listen to this religiously. Take note, WTKA.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:02 AM ^
Seriously, if I were a radio producer, I'd hire Brian in a New York minute. He's got a great voice, he doesn't say dumb stuff, he asks good questions. He might actually be a better program 'host' than a 'guest.'
December 30th, 2010 at 11:14 AM ^
His voice is like a combination of Fergie and Jesus.
December 30th, 2010 at 7:18 PM ^
Brian used to do the afternoon slot on Mondays on WTKA (for the always out Bacon)?
December 30th, 2010 at 10:21 AM ^
JHack needed to put up his atomic bomb clip with the mention of the CC
December 30th, 2010 at 10:24 AM ^
Yes,
<br> because that hasn't gotten old and tired yet either.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:33 AM ^
http://www.wtka.com/index.php?fuseaction=home.podcasts_search Brian's is about half way down the list for December 30
December 30th, 2010 at 10:48 AM ^
Helpful and not about CC. Appreciated.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:38 AM ^
The Old Men that call in are hilarious, they comment on weeks old news, that they must have debated with their relatives over Christmas. Sometimes it feels like I am reading a game preview after I know the game result.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:51 AM ^
December 30th, 2010 at 10:55 AM ^
Looked like he was still commenting at 3am this morning, so probably still sleeping or nursing a hangover.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:11 AM ^
Jeebus - going after President Coleman (much less LC) on this was soo classless. Guys did a nice job defending her from todd from whereever.....
December 30th, 2010 at 11:16 AM ^
He's only on MgoBlog 10 to 15 times a day. I log in and keep the tab open all day...Lightweight.
Just poking fun at you Eric but not about the time I spend here.
December 30th, 2010 at 12:32 PM ^
Zettel preferred the "chemistry" at PSU. Meaning he preferred PSU's coaches to M's. Harbaugh will get a shot at Zettel, if he wants.
December 30th, 2010 at 1:43 PM ^
Or has Stanford filled its class?
