Great hire - although I would have been glad with any of the candidates. He has the most experience of the three top choices though. Did you see that Muckalt was named an assistant at Michigan Tech under Pearson? Great to see more alums in the coaching circles.

that post before.  I'm sure everybody sees the multiple flaws with the post, but I have $.02 to spare.  I can believe that Muckalt might possibly end up being a better coach/recruiter than Wiseman.  They're both young and unproven enough where that could be the case.  I thought Wiseman looked like the stronger candidate on paper and I certainly trust Red to hire who he thinks is best, but it's within the realm of possibility that Muckalt ends up a (and if it happens, most likely a very slightly) better coach than Wiseman.

Here's the biggest fallacy to me and even if the rest was mostly believable this blows up the entire rest of the argument.  To believe that Muckalt, or really anybody, would pass Billy Powers in 2 years is beyond ridiculous and quite honestly insane.  Now that Mel's a head coach, Billy might very well be the best assisstant in college hockey and you don't better that in two years, if you ever do.  To assert that somebody would is very silly.
