Brian Mone named to Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Watch List
Michigan defensive lineman Brian Mone has been named to the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Watch List. Most people probably have not heard of the award because it's only in its second year, but those who follow college football have definitely heard of the player who received the inaugural award: Marcus Mariota. Mone is one of 36 players selected to the watch list, and is one of only two who play football east of the Mississippi.

Also that he is the next Vince Wilfork but, you know, priorities.

clicked on this thinking "surely this is in jest to make a mockery of preseason watch lists. surely." but nay. it's an actual thing.
I was also confused at first on whether this was real or satire.
Without these watchlists, I probably wouldn't even watch a game.
That's some tough competition. How can you be better at football than a guy whose name is "Psalm Wooching" or "DeForest Buckner"? It will be fun to watch this competition play out this year.
Mason Cole for Slaw of the Year?
Seems as good a time as any to revisit this, in case anyone forgot or missed it

How do they know that each of these players is Polynesian? Not all of their names make their ancestry obvious. How do they know they've considered all of the eligible candidates?
Self-reported. Also the community is pretty tight.
OP - It's Bryan Mone. BrYan not BrIan. You should fix the nit especially cuz it's the guys name.
Basically the Heisman.

Not as cool as Hayden Epstein winning the Jewish Heisman.
