Brian Cole Visiting This Weekend
Brian is a 4* receiver from the state of Michigan. He's believed to be a Michigan State lean, and was supposed to visit Michigan State this weekend.
Saginaw Heritage (Mich.) Jr. WR-S Brian Cole added to the list of visitors for #Michigan this weekend: http://t.co/rBNzed7Vth

Yeah, I wouldn't think MSU would be offering him to play DB at Michigan.
September 4th, 2013 at 9:06 PM ^
To be fair, MSU does have a pretty good record of putting WRs in the NFL. Some may not have been very good, but Gene Washington, Mark Ingram Sr, Plaxico Burress, Andre Rison, and Charles Rodgers were all 1st rounders.

I'm not sure that "role model" is what jumps off the page when I look at that list.

Or maybe I misunderstood the issues.

It's not as comprehensive or up-to-date as some of the pay sites, but it's got most of what you need.

Are you kidding me? Saginaw indeed is a fertile recruting ground - football and basketball. And within 15 minutes you have Midland and Bay City which chip in decent kid every other year, but Saginaw arguably is the #2 city in our state to pluck athletes out of.
won't even begin to list everyone in football/basketball the last couple decades from here, it would be very lengthy.
But yeah, Saginaw is indeed a stud breeding ground for athletes.
September 5th, 2013 at 10:03 AM ^
It'd be a lengthy list.......if you went back to the 80s and 90s. This year, exactly 0 Saginaw players on in the top 20 rankings for the state by Rivals.
2013 - 0
2012 - 0
2011 - 1
2010 - 0
Not sure I would call it a stud ground for football. Basketball, you're getting better players. Kalin Lucas, Draymond Green, Dar Tucker, and Eric Davis coming up. But again, it's not the 80s or 90s anymore. Detroit is still tops in Michigan, obviously. If you look at Saginaw as Flint/Saginaw, things look better, but you were just referring to Saginaw.

I am currently at work, so cannot allocate resources to creating a list at the moment, but i will eventually compose one. I absolutely disagree with you though, Saginaw definitely has GR beat (with only 1/3 the population also) as far as prospects. Saginaw has produced some big, big time prospects in both basketball and football. Saginaw High and Saginaw Arthur Hill have produced and continue to produce unbelievable talent year in and year out. Saginaw Heritage maybe a recruit once every 10 years - they are not much of a factor.

I don't think you're looking at the facts. Saginaw is not producing BCS level football players at all. Arnett is one of a few in the last 5 years. You have to go back to Woodley and Jerome Jackson in 2003 for the next guys to go to BCS schools from Saginaw HS

I don't think he's a "must get." Michigan is going to have a good class in 2015 even without him.
September 5th, 2013 at 8:32 AM ^
IMO, i do consider him an extremely important get.
Of course Michigan is going to have a great class without him, but he would still be a top 5 guy in their class. He is an absolutely stud at CB, WR and RB, and will easily be the top player in the state.
September 5th, 2013 at 9:58 AM ^
I'm not sure about being the best player in the state. Personally, I really like Kyonta Stallworth.
September 5th, 2013 at 10:41 AM ^
who doesn't even have an offer despite being a big michigan fan. Curse you small 2015 recruiting class!
September 5th, 2013 at 1:03 PM ^
a great job recruiting by and large, BUT the two legacy offers look a little suspect to me. Wangler and Runyan are middling 3 stars at super deep positions that look to be squeezing out some much higer rated propsects that had/have serious interest in Michigan.
Obviously there is some value in having kids who bleed maize and blue so hopefully those 2 guys develop greatly and prove me wrong.

Exhibit A: Berkley Edwards
Wangler had some great offers for a LB. Don't know about Runyan, but I doubt they offer a player that early if they don't think he's worth it, legacy or not.
September 5th, 2013 at 2:58 PM ^
"....Wangler and Runyan are middling 3 stars ..." Yep, like Channing Stribling and Jake Ryan. Why do these coaches bother with 3 stars?

IMO, its not even close. Cole is an absolute stud.

2016 PG Derryck Thornton Jr. and 2016 five-star wing Tyus Battle plan to attend the game. Yesterday, UMHoops posted a video of Thornton's impressive summer highlights (Link). He spent the summer training with Chauncey Billups, Sebastian Telfair, etc. And he speaks highly of Michigan basketball and how exciting the NCAA tournament run was to watch. Plus, Trey Burke tweeted that he will be at the game Saturday, too. Hopefully sitting next to Derryck and Tyus.

Good handles and very fluid player. Good court vision and understanding of spacing with the ability to get a pass off quickly. This would be a good pick up.
