Brian Cole visiting Alabama

Most likely. Brian Cole to be featured on season 2 on last chance U.
October 20th, 2016 at 11:13 PM ^
He'll definitely be on it. I've been following him via their box scores.
He starts and has a scored a TD on D.
They lost the first game cause everyone was suspended. Completely shit the bed. Now they're blowing everyone out including beating the team they got in a fight with last year something like 70-7

Thanks for the spoiler. Now you ruined Season 2.

What does adidas have to do with any of this?
October 20th, 2016 at 11:31 PM ^
Best of luck to him. I was disappointed that he had to leave the team for something as trivial as ganja, but I guess rules are rules.

That gets you playing time at Bama

I'm almost certain there's more to the story. Even if its multiple failed tests or something.
Maybe I'm wrong but I can't imagine it was as simple as one failed drug test.

Could have been on thin ice with the previous coaching regime.
Or, which is possible as I used to work with troubled tennagers/adults for a number of years, he might not have had the right "attitude" about making mistakes. If I recall he was either finished the year as 5-star recruit, or at some point was a 5-star during his senior season.
Kids with amazing abilities(be it athletic, academic, or artistic) who have discipline/transgression issues can be incredibly stubborn and unwilling to change (either arrogance from their own immense talent or fear of "losing it").
But whenever they decided to make a change (sadly some never do), look out, because they do have something special to give to the world.
Dorial Green-Beckham is a great example, and Cam Newton to a lesser degree.
Wish him the best.

I think there are a lot of less talented kids who have very similar issues
October 21st, 2016 at 12:25 PM ^
...I feel like this would classify as more than one failed drug test.

Would not have been booted for one failed test.

Coaches livelihood...
The coaches depend on these players to earn their substantial living.
They are not dismissing players for trivial reasons.

They recruit home run hitters at wide receiver, then look to find guys to fill the possession role via grad transfers or juco guys. It's a great gig if you are the one guy they take. Good luck to Cole.
October 20th, 2016 at 11:53 PM ^
As in...guys in JUCO who have been in possession of Marijuana?
October 20th, 2016 at 11:46 PM ^
Wish he could've stuck around and kept himself clean, but oh well. Shit happens.
Best of luck, Cole.

I don't want to mention any names, but the alleged reason Cole was kicked off has been speculated to be the same reason why MSU lost a couple of important d lineman. It's obviously hurting them a lot more than Cole's departure hurts U of M, which brings me great joy, but glad to see Cole doing well and wish him continued success in the future
October 21st, 2016 at 7:14 AM ^
Why not just mention the reason? I don't know what you're referring to and I'm sure others don't.
October 21st, 2016 at 8:30 AM ^
I hate when people say "I know why X happened but won't say it." Either say it or don't mention it at all.

Hey man, sorry about that. Didn't mean to cause you any grief. I took for granted that it was well known on this board for awhile now what the issue was with Cole, it was even reeferred to within the first 5 posts of this thread. I worded it that way because you're right, I don't know why X happened, I wasn't sitting in Harbaugh's or Dantonio's office when the players were dismissed. I'm just going off of and repeating the conjecture and speculation created by Internet message board posters, which we always know to be credible and factual sources of information. The point I tried to get across was that a similar situation happened to MSU and it totally destroyed their d line depth, and that makes me happy :)
October 21st, 2016 at 12:37 PM ^
Man this was a long post to still say absolutely nothing.

I Agree. I'll shut up now
October 21st, 2016 at 9:09 AM ^
So are we talking rape, roids, guns, or some combination of all 3?
October 21st, 2016 at 10:01 AM ^
You never disappoint.
October 20th, 2016 at 11:55 PM ^
I wish we had a good window on what exactly happened with Cole. I'm not talking about rumors, I'm talking about the actual extent and the frequency. It stinks that a in-state kid might go somewhere else and produce. I'd just like to know how much the kid fucked up. I guess it doesn't matter if Harbaugh keeps winning games though. He's kept us on the right by abiding by the good citizen rule.
October 21st, 2016 at 10:51 AM ^
I don't think it is our business or our right to know.
I wish him well, but I want to be a part of a university that holds people accountable.

October 21st, 2016 at 12:02 AM ^
I'm a firm believer in second chances. Whatever mistakes he made here shouldn't dog him forever, so if he's good enough for Alabama, they'll get one hell of a WR, and he'll have a chance to play for a premier program. Good luck to him.
October 21st, 2016 at 1:34 AM ^
Or one hell of a DB. The kid lays the wood.
October 21st, 2016 at 7:04 AM ^
A lot of young adults, like 18 and 19 year olds make very poor choices. A lot of the time it's just part of growing up. We've seen a lot of young players at Michigan get into trouble, but still pull themselves out of it and eventually flourish. Unfortunately, Brian Cole wasn't able to do it while at Michigan. Hopefully, he will elsewhere.

Brian Cole and Amir Mitchell both got dismissed for the same thing marijuana. We should have gave them both a second chance it's not like it's cocaine or ecstasy or something like that it's only marijuana no big deal. Suspend them for four games that's what OSU and Michigan State does. I understand it's Michigan and we hold our students and athletes to higher standards but it's only marijuana man. Everybody smokes pot in college occasionally.
