Breakdown Sports Summer Post Links
Did this for my Spring posts, thought I'd do the same for the summer links. Below, I'll put a brief summary and supply a link to the post for those interested in learning more about football. I'll also make reference to posts that specifically apply to Michigan (will attach a * to the post).

*In a two-part post, I look at the basics of a Cover 1 Defense, and then the adjustments that can be made within that defense. This will be the base defense for Michigan going into the 2014 season, and I don't think you'll find a more detailed explanation of it (while hopefully remaining high-level enough to not drag everyone through the mud). Also applies primarily to Minnesota and Nebraska.*
A look at OSU's offense. How it dates back to Michigan's old single wing offense. Also, how OSU will utilize more 2-back sets this year and what that means for defenses.
*A look at Nebraska's use of a single high defense against run heavy defenses. Single-high defenses have some strengths and weaknesses, but this article discusses some of the adjustments that need to be made in the event that the DL is struggling. Now applies to Michigan as well.*
*This looked at PSU's offense last year, which included a zone run scheme with a simplied pass game. Michigan's offense will look in many ways similar this year, as it attempts to simplify the offense in an effort to play faster.*
Here we look at Northwestern's offense, and how it changes, yet remains similar by changing from a running QB to a pass heavy QB
*I took a look at defending the speed option with a single high and a two-high defense. Michigan has tried both in the past with mixed results. They will continue to attack with both depending on the offense this year.*
I took a look at the Cover 4 defense, which is the base (about 90% of plays) for MSU, and the now base for OSU as of 2014 (as well as Wisconsin more than likely). In the first link, I look at the basics of the cover 4, and in the second link, I look at the difficulty of playing safety (and why it is my belief that picking on the safeties is where to attack this defense) in this coverage.
I took a quick look at the Minnesota run game, which is a pistol heavy, Power O and zone based running attack. Michigan may utilize a few similar concepts along the way as they mix their base plays from a pistol look.
I discuss briefly the advantages and disadvantages of implementing an up-tempo look into an offense.

*I took a look at the utilization of an H-back in the run game. Tomorrow, a post about the versatility of the H-back in the passing attack will go up as well to complement this piece. Michigan will continue to utilize an H-back with their zone scheme and many single-back sets.*

I've kept up with these throughout the summer, but for those that have not, I do highly recommend these posts. Very thorough and informative, and I have never NOT learned something new (several things actually) in these pieces.

It won't be a focus. That was always a hit or miss with me, as it chased off some followers but also got me a lot of followers. It also took away some of the enjoyment of watching some of the games.
So, while I'll still likely post the occasional thing, it won't be nearly as play-by-play as it was last year. I'll still have post-game coaching points usually though.

Which makes perfect sense. In all honesty I didn't read each tweet, but looked for the stuff like you are talking about - shifts in strategy, potential adjustments, off/def alignments, and coaching/player critique.
Also, thank you for all the content. I enjoy your writing style and your balanced analysis.
