Which was the better game. Both were improbable comebacks.
Braylonfest or Burkefest?
Burke, no question. Braylon was playing against a dude with a titanium rod for a shin bone on a 0.500 team (or whatever the record was). Burke took it to a loaded Kansas team to get us into the elite eight.
Yeah but we beat a good program in only one of those.
Why do I have to pick one?
when comparing a football game and a basketball game. Both great games and performances but it's difficult to choose between the two. Need to put a comparison together of another great basketball performance.
Dogfish 90 or Bells Hopslam?
and get back to MGoBlog at like 2:19 tomorrow with an answer. On a completely unrelated note, I might not be coherent by 2:20 tomorrow.
But 90 minute. Hopslam has about a week before it noticeably gets worse
Zombie Dust all day.
Can I pick both?
Loved the game last night but any game that brings ultimate heart break to FYS and mass couch burning in EL has to win out in my book.
last night's game also brought out mass couch burnings in EL.
Burke is going to win this because his game is fresh and we're all still excited.
But he hit a buzzer-beater and then hit 2 shots in OT that he's definitely made before.
He's also the PG, he's got the ball in his hands. Braylon is a WR, he had to TAKE the ball.
Last night was much more of a total team effort even though football is the ultimate team sport and individuals can win basketball games.
But McGary was huge down the stretch, Morgan's defense was huge, Robinson made a HUGE layup, etc. It wasn't just Burke last night.
Edwards put the team on his back and made plays when there weren't always plays to be made. Edwards didn't have the ball in his hands for the entire stretch.
He may be a knucklehead and make us all shake our fists in anger at times...but Braylon wins this in a landslide. In fact, it no contest because they can't really be compared.
I get the Michigan/KU vs. UTL Game comparison. Team effort comeback vs. Team effort comeback.
Braylon did his thing pretty much by himsefl (I know Avant had a crazy catch as well).
Braylon game again if you really think that he did that all by himself.
is the key to a good day. Washed down with a triple-shot of lore please.
Braylonfest was one of those games where Michigan should've been dominating from the start if not for TGDCD. On the other hand, Burkefest was a game against a better opponent that he single handedly stole. I vote Burkefest.
In '84 Isiah Thomas scored 16 points in the last 94 seconds against the Knicks to send a first-round playoff game to overtime. The Pistons ended up losing that game though...So this one was better.
Braylonfest was great, but that was a game that should never have been close anyway.
Burkefest was a ridiculous come from behind performance against a better team on one of the biggest stages in college basketball in a do or die game.
I vote Burkefest.
a home game.
Everyone please cease wirh the "better team" crap.... Michigan annihilated Kansas at crunch time. So if anyone then WE are the better team. Five freshmen a soph and a junior beat an upperclassman team in which was practically a road game. And Withey got schooled. Talk about a backhanded bitchslap by a true freshman. They even tried bunk bsbypunching the kid in the balls. So F@@@ Kansas and anyone else who says they were the better team.
Burkefest was in the NCAA tourney, to get to a Regional Final, which makes the scale disproportionately larger than a football game in the middle of the conference season. On a national level, Burkefest was huge. To us, as fans of the team, Braylonfest gave us bragging rights over our in-state rival in a game that neither of the two teams fan bases will forget. Ask an average non-Michigan or MSU fan about that game and they may not remember. For me, Braylonfest and the ensuing Sparty Schaedenfreude win out in this battle.
I'm just going to agree with you because I can't answer the question.
That was a rambling incoherent mess and I thoroughly apologize.
Going well for me.
Awesome. At least I have warm fuzzy memories of last night to comfort my pitiful soul.
I enjoyed watching Braylonfest but, as others have noted, that win came against a mediocre team with a tradition to match. Burke's shot and UMich's win last night came against what is generally a top-tier team.
I'm reminded of the '79 IU football game that causes so many people to go apeshit. Anthony Carter's play was spectacular and I understand that it was historically significant (awakening Bo to the possibilities of passing, etc.) but people seem to forget that Michigan was tied to a Big Ten doormat in the Big House (rather than trailing OSU in Columbus).
We wait and see if we beat Florida tomorrow first, no more wait for some perspective? Lose in 18 hours and 25% of the people on here will have forgotten it and be calling for someone's head. Win 3 more, and it'll become our Laettner-Kentucky shot.
It'll be great either way, but with the quick turnaround how we feel about it all on Monday could be very different. (Beating Kentucky in the Final Four was one of the great wins in Michigan history...but for the timeout game two nights later).
I think a better comparison in general is that game vs the Notre Dame UTL game(even though it wasn't 1 person in the UTL game). However, the comeback and the energy of those two games I think are more comparable.
Rarely does a receiver singlehandedly pown a game like that. The simple fact that its bit called hennefast attests to that.
Because I was there. ;)
I'm still going to say Braylonfest. Trust me, I loved last night and both are great. But Braylon-fest beat a rival. It stopped the "little brothers" from trolling for another year (because when they win against Michigan there is honestly nothing more annoying in the state of Michigan). Braylon went bonkers (as did the team), but Burke still has work to do. Braylon did work against a rival.
I watch Braylonfest on replay on the regular. I'll enjoy Burke whenever posted. Give me Braylon for now.
FWIW, I feed off of going contrary to popular opinion, especially when it's something I believe in, so I'm going to keep on fighting this when I wake up hungover tomorrow.
