I know we're all Michigan fans, but let's be honest about Braylon. He played well only sporadically for the Browns. He dropped a lot of balls, just like he did early on for Michigan and even Michigan fans were annoyed with him then. And if these latest allegations are true, he wasn't a model citizen, either. I hope he has success, and I hope he matures a bit. Maybe New York is the right place for him. But let's not pretend that Braylon's problem was Cleveland; he obviously didn't make his best effort to fit in there.

Shhh... don't you know? Braylon is perfect... he donates money to charity in Detroit (not in Cleveland though, they booed him!) so he clearly can't be anything other than a great human being and a great wide receiver! The only reason anyone could possibly care about the NFL is to cheer for Michigan players, anyway!

"The only reason anyone could possibly care about the NFL is to cheer for Michigan players, anyway!" I know, right? It's odd, because, like, I woke up today and I was a fan of the Browns, and then all of a sudden after I read this thread, I became a fan of the Jets. Weird. It's like with the Colts. I was totally a fan of them, but a month ago I all of a sudden became a fan of their practice squad only. Then just earlier this week, I was a fan of the Colts team again. I can't explain it.

Braylon obviously has some growing up to do, but Cleveland is a dung-hole, too. I think getting rid of him is good for both parties. One of the cool things about getting traded is that you get a fresh start; I'm sure Braylon will be on his best behavior to "prove" that everything negative said about him in Cleveland was "wrong." I do agree with the inference of a previous poster that there is no way either Ohio team should draft anyone from Michigan because of the hatred they have for UM. I would imagine that we will suddenly see mature behavior from Braylon. I really hope his dad or even Lloyd Carr explains to him that he needs to take advantage of his second chance.

Ohio does terrible things to noble people. It makes one lose motivation and become disgruntled. It's like an elf living in Mordor. In fact... it's exactly like that. It's the kind of place that orcs like because it is a complete shithole. But with people more accustomed to quality and such, it has a negative effect. Obviously.

I was in Cleveland last October for business and went to the Cavs home opener. The first noteworthy thing is that it was nowhere near sold-out, which surprised me. Then, during an NBA game, they flashed the sacred block "M" on the big scoreboard to generate a round of boos. It just seemed very strange to have that happen at an NBA game. Cleveland is a weird place.

Please confirm facts before you poke fun. The game was sold out. Capacity is 20562, attendance was 20,562. See link for attendance. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=281030005 As for the M. Cleveland has a weird loving of the Bucks. I guess it makes sense in a way. Its still dumb. I've never seen them do that at a Cavs game, doesn't mean it didn't happen though. As for Braylon, as of how he is wasting talent. He still has time though to get it together.

Just because the reported attendance is the same as the capacity thus making it a "Sell Out" doesn't mean that the stadium is full. Michigan Stadium is technically "Sold Out" most weeks, but we all know that every year there seems to be a game that is really somewhere between 90K and 100K. The Palace had a crazy streak of "Sell Outs" and reported attendance equal to capacity, however the upper bowl often had sections that were half full. I have no idea if Cleveland's arena was full or not opening day last year, but just because the reported attendance = capacity does not mean that the arena didn't have a whole bunch of empty seats.

I was there as well, and it was very much sold out. The Cavs do that for every natural rival. They also put up pictures of Ray Lewis, John Elway, Ben Roethlisberger, Derek Jeter, etc. They even put up Florida and LSU stuff to rile up the fans.

There is a reason they are called the Clowns. They have no idea what they are doing. When they're too busy fawking up a QB situation, they're not cleaning their lockerroom and players almost die of a staph infection. Fawk Cleveland. Braylon will take this fresh start and make them look even worse than the clowns look today.

I think Browns fans were more pissed off at the massive number of drops, not the fact that he went to Michigan. Lord, not everyone views the NFL as nothing more than a postscript to your college career like you people do.

when Hoard played. Same with Thom Darden, a favorite with the Browns, even though a late interception by Darden against the buckeyes caused Woody to go nuts and tear up the down marker. The environment is much more polarized now; the 'either for us or against us' mentality is pervasive.
That said, Braylon could've helped his case in Cleveland by catching a few more balls.

I watched a lot of the brown's during the ONE year that Braylon actually played well, and fans didn't boo him. It was only when he started dropping every other pass that was thrown his direction that they gave him any grief, and lets not pretend that we don't do the same thing to our UM players......Cissoko, Sheridan etc etc etc. It's good he is getting a new start, but let's not pretend he didn't bring a lot of these problems on himself.

I like this trade. Good for Braylon and good for the respective team he left and just joined. I think being on a different team will only encourage him to play better. He'll be held accountable and want to work harder because his teammates will also be pushing him. And as a Michigan fan, who wouldn't want to see an ex-player in a big media market like New York? I think Manningham and him could become good friends...

I'm sorry to see Braylon go, but this is a perfect trade for him. He always seemed to want to be 'more than'. He couldn't just be a great WR; he wanted to be a star. He tried too hard and it didn't work. Edwards has been his own worst enemy, but now he gets to go to New York and have a chance to shine in the big time. I never liked how Edwards said Browns fans didn't welcome him because he was a U-M alum, but I think that's ridiculous. Most pro fans don't care what college you went to as long as you win, and Leroy (hold on to the ball!) Hoard and Steve Everitt were popular Browns for a few years. EDIT: Chris Mortensen's Tweets have a pretty good summary of the situation. The 'celebrity first' thing is the key. http://twitter.com/MORTREPORT

As a browns fan, I can honestly say that he had been on the shit list for a while. He simply dropped way too many balls. He know joins the Browns' first round busts club along with Tim Couch, Courtney Brown, Gerrard Warren, William Green, Jeff Faine, Kellen Winslow, and Brady Quinn. Honestly though, he's gotta be happy to get out of there. Cleveland's ownership is terrible, and not dedicated to winning. This team will be 0-16, I promise you that.

They've got games against Detroit, Kansas City and Oakland. Right now the Rams are looking like a better candidate for 0-16. They were shut out even when Bulger was healthy. The Rams still play Detroit this year. I had high hopes for the Raiders this year, but they've already beaten KC.

Awesome. Great news for Braylon. Now he will finally be able to play for a winning team and get more opportunities to make some plays.

I have Braylon on my Fantasy Team (complete homer pick by the way) and he's been worthless. He had 0.00 points last week, and played. If by "played" I mean dropping two of the five passes thrown at him. He can only do better with the Jets. Of course, I had Roy Williams last year (again, a homer Lions pick) and thought the same when he want to Dallas but did absolutetly nothing. Maybe I should stop drafting UM alum and Lions?

Pick against the Lions except in a few cases. Jason Hanson. Nobody settles for a FG like the Lions do! Calvin Johnson. He's good for a 30 point night at least once a season. Plus, the lions will be behind, and they'll need to throw the ball...lots. Other than that, if my defense is on a bye...who's playing the Lions this week? If I've got a role-playing/possession type WR on the bench, and his team is going against the Lions...start him he'll score double digits. If I can't find the players I need...look on the waiver wire, let's see if we can get a few players who are playing the Lions this week. I can dump them the next week and try again!

I know he didn't really respect Crennel, and he didn't care for Mangini. But I don't think Rex Ryan will mess around with him.. Which is exactly what Braylon needs. Hopefully a solid Jets team will help him out, dude has plenty of talent.

Hey, this means Braylon will have a real QB to throw to him. Which means, Braylon might actually be worth something to my fantasy football team now! Awesome :)

Awesome. I can resume rooting against all things Ohio. Braylon was pretty badass at Michigan with a good QB throwing to him--if he can't succeed with a future top 10 QB like Sanchez, he obviously isn't the guy we thought he was. I know he just plain drops passes, but who knows. Secondly, can anyone name an elite receiver who is a genuinely good person? Marvin Harrison (associated with multiple murders), Hines Ward (takes cheap shots), TO (allergic to his own QBs), Keyshawn Johnson (self-absorbed), Randy Moss (self-absorbed), Plaxico Burress (do i even need to say it?). Even a "nice guy" like Larry Fitzgerald had some weird estrangement issue with his dying mom which was never completely explained to me but sounded pretty bad on his part. Even if there are exceptions, they seem to be in the minority.

Steve Smith has punched multiple teammates, though. Unless you're talking about the one with the Giants. I don't know about him. I was thinking about Calvin Johnson who is probably one of the nicer guys in the league. I guess when you have Reggie Ball throwing to you in college and then go to the Lions you learn a little humility.

interesting... I had always pegged Braylon as a guy Bill Parcells or Bill Belichick would take a chance on. God knows Miami needs a go-to guy, and who better to bail out Chad Henne again but his former crutch!? Guess not, though. Braylon ought to do well in New York. Best of luck to him. (and, I actually was being serious about Braylon/Chad... not picking on either... they were a GREAT combination)

as per this AP article: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-browns-jetstrade&prov=ap&type=… Examples given include: 1) the latest allegations of punching Lebron's friend 2) having partied with Donte Stallworth the night Stallworth killed the pedestrian, although it is acknowledged that Braylon wasn't with Stallworth at the time 3) Driving 120 mph I get the whole diva thing, which seems appropriate, but "troubled" seems a little strong and hyperbolic here.

He also was running without cleats last year when he got stepped on by Stallworth, causing him to miss a few games (with a patented Browns staph infection thrown in). During the Coye Francis water blow-up in the lockerroom, Edwards is the one who shouted (to the media) "Welcome to the Browns lockerroom!". These aren't terrible things, and Edwards was certainly more professional than Kellen Winslow. But he wanted to be a star on and off the field, and didn't seem to understand that working hard at on the field stardom was the best way to be an off the field star. I bet he's delighted to be in New York, but we'll see how he fits. I hope he does well.
