Per Adam Schefter's tweet (not sure how to import the tweet) "Braylon Edwards is going to sign a 1 year deal with Seattle."
I know he has had his issues, but hopefully he can have a reset out in Seattle. Best of luck out west Braylon.
He was my fav Michigan player I wish the lions would sign him.
Then we'd have to hear his quotes in the paper more often. No thanks. Don't get me wrong, loved him while he was here, but he hasn't quite been the best role-model for a Michigan-man since he's gone Pro.
He has done some neat stuff (and yes, I know other players do charity work also):
I like his quotes and his cocky style. The lions have a ton of it as is more wouldnt hurt.
sign him to play corner back for the Lions.
Easy there Matt Millen. I think Detroit has enough receivers right now.
i live in Seattle and not a seahawks fan. 3 years ago i wouldve been excited about this. Some of BE antics the last few years have left me disappointed. hopefully he'll give me a reason to root for them. Good luck Braylon!
He needs to give You a reason to root for him? Give me a break.
He said that though living in Seattle he's not been a Seattle fan and hopes that Braylon, despite his questionable behavior lately, will give him a reason to root for Seattle.
Cleveland Browns season ticket holder here. If you had seen first hand the change in Braylon from 2007 (16 TDs) to 2008 (more dropped balls than one thought humanly possible) you simply wouldn't believe it. I wish i knew what happened to the guy as he was one of my favorite Wolverine's too and I loved that he was tearing it up here in Cleveland (at least at first).
I hope he gets it turned around too. He's got all the physical tools to be successful but he's running out chances to prove it.
Out of the three great WR when he wasat Michigan (Braylon, Avant, Breaston), their pro success has probably been opposite of the college success (Breaston > Avant > Braylon). I still think Braylon has the most potential and skill, as seen by is '07 season, just weird how those things worked out.
Steve Breaston has 9 TDs, total, in his NFL career. Braylon had almost twice that in one NFL season (2007). Hell, Braylon had 7 TDs in 2010 alone, not to mention some clutch catches in the playoffs (there is no way the Jets get in position to kick the winning FG against Indy w/o Braylon bailing out Sanchez with a great catch).
Jason Avant has been a serviceable #3 WR - he's good for 40-50 catches, 600 or so yards and 2-3 TDs.
Granted, as you said, Braylon has (had?) the most skill of those guys, so in theory he should have done more, but at least he was a #1 receiver at some point in his NFL career. Breaston and Avant haven't approached that.
Braylon returns to Detroit as the Seahawks visit the Lions on Sunday, October 28 (Week 8).
Michigan is in Nebraska that weekend, so no sideline at the Big House for him.
Does Seattle have a QB though?
Didn't they sign two game wonder Matt Flynn?
They sure did, as well as drafted Russell Wilson, neither of whom has been able to beat out Tarvaris Jackson. So that should give you an idea of how things are going up there.
So, no then?
Tarvaris did have a decent comp % last year, but his TD/INT ratio is pretty bad.
I think Flynn will do well because Mike McCarthy poops gold.
Perhaps the greatest problem that Braylon has faced in the NFL - aside from his own poor judgment - has been that he has been on teams with terrible QBs. As a deap threat, Braylon's success will largely live and die by how effective his QB is at throwing that corner of the endzone jump ball to precisely the right spot. I have to wonder how different his career would have turned out had he been catching passes from Tom Brady,, Eli, Peyton or even someone like Stafford.
going to seattle is just more of the same - another team with a crappy QB situation.
He's not really a deep threat anymore. He's pretty much an underachieving pre madonna. Hopefully he proves me wrong. And I truly mean that.
That fantasy football NFL one, where he was catching balls with the blindfold on. That had to be real, right?
The QBs on Seattle are so mediocre....sounds about right for Braylon's NFL career.
