The saga continues. Things are tough for Braylon right now. Maybe he'll land in Detriot with Titus Young currently being a turd.

Not unless he can play CB. Or offensive tackle.
I don't think he could handle playing second fiddle to Calvin Johnson.
Yeah, but I'd be cool with those two both on the Lions.
And he had a potential game-winning touchdown reversed last week.
I always hated Pete Carroll.
how they overtuned that. First they call a TD and isnt the rule it has to be some damn good evidence to turn over? There was none, that was a TD...BS call by the refs. I liked him on the Hawks, good red zone target. Its too bad. Go to the Lions
He got cut because of his tweet he posted today about the jets organization.
Maybe Berkley can now express his thoughts on this to the world via twitter.

Braylon is an asshole
he's a mediocre reciever who had one good year and yet goes around acting like he's Jerry Rice. What a shame
Which is ironic, because I don't remember him having any character issues whilst he was here.. but I guess maybe he had the spotlight so his ego coulda been satiated..who knows!
Facebook, twitter, and all the media coverage we have now didn't exist even back in 2004
no character issues at UM? i beg to differ.
nice job handling behavior issues with his team. Reading between the lines back in the day it seems Carr had a big job with Braylon.
It doesn't take much reading between the lines - the whole deal with earning the #1 jersey was a pretty obvious sign that Carr had a big job with Braylon. And now, thanks to that whole incident, we haven't had anyone else wear the #1 jersey due to the mistaken belief that earning it was a thing outside of just Braylon.
If i remember correctly, didnt Carr have Edwards running up and down the stadium stairs one year because of something Edwards did? I could be thinking of someone else
Adrian Arrington
I think it happened to both.
spent 4 four years mocking Edwards for being on the 'same page' with Carr. I know it wasn't that long but it felt like it.
It was only three years.
So wait... Braylon got in touble for running his mouth? Never would have seen that coming
Didn't even make it as far as he did last year. Maybe the Lions will pick him up. Expect that'd pretty much be his last chance. Still, he was pretty good a couple years ago.
To criticize someone for running their mouths. We do it everyday on this site. He's just famous and people actually care what he says.
A key difference might be that if we were in a position like his, we might not run our mouths like he does. You reach a point as a professional where you shouldn't do these things anymore.
I think that's called "growing up" and , for the record, it appears as though most of the teenagers on this site have done more of that than Braylon.
And caring are completely different.
Gotta imagine this is the end or VERY close to the end for Braylon in the NFL. Character issues with bringing little to the team. Oh well, I'll always have OT vs MSU
Maybe he can catch on as receivers coach at the Univ of Minnesota, to help his brother rip us a new one.
He should be on the Raiders by now.
Braylon should definitely come to the Lions. Calvin can teach him how to block downfield and refresh his memory on catching the ball. He'll probably go to a team with the Seahawks still on their schedule.
30 now, receivers with his abilities are a dime dozen and cheaper in the draft.
He should hook with the lions for the year and consider calling it quits
Who might I say still frolics around campus here in East Lansing as if he's relevant.
I've never been a fan of off-field Braylon, but I'm at least a little surprised his overall career hasn't gone better.
I fully believe that he could be a Pro Bowl wide receiver if his head didn't get in the way. He's got his mind on too many other things, in my opinion.
What a waste of talent.....
People tend to think as long as you are an exceptionally gifted athlete you are set- it's unfortunate that people so talented continue to prove that wrong by acting in the wrong way and making stupid decisions. Hard to imagine with his talent and past recent success this is where he's at...
Best of luck to him and hope he lands somewhere he can be succesful..
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't wish the best of luck to him.
Any roster spot he takes up could very well be taken by a guy who needs it more and/or who has a better attitude.
I wish the best of luck to any hardworking, humble guy who's good enough to take the roster spot and the money that Edwards has forfeited by having such a poor attitude.
I get your point. I'm a bit of a homer...
But I agree, if he can't find a spot because he cant change a bad attitude I won't feel bad for him.
I guess I hope he stops being a fool more than is lucky...
I'm with you. "Michigan Man" or not, everyone should live by Jon's "don't be an a--hole rule" and its clear that Braylon does not. As such, in my opinion he deserves no special treatment, regardless of how much money he's donated to Michigan. An a--hole is an a--hole.
please?
Why don't we just go for the dysfunctional trio and get TO and Chad Johnson while we're at it Thanks but no thanks. This season is lost already. No point in fucking with Stafford's chemistry.
I wondered if coming home to Detroit would calm him down, but Belle Isle last summer happened. He still drops the ball a lot and the Lions lead the NFL in drops...again. Can't think about the "upside" in a 30 year old. Even Jay Bilas wouldn't do that.
Wherever he ends up, his acrimonious departure from Seattle makes it less likely that he'll do his next team's pre-game intro spot as "Braylon Edwards, Pete Carroll's Seattle Seahawks"
Too bad for Braylon, hopefully he'll find another team to stick to. Thought maybe the Pats with Edelman being on IR with a foot fracture, but the Pats resigned Stallworth.
He'll always have that second half against Sparty.
And nearly every receiving record at Michigan.
Indeed. Although I still think Anthony Carter was a better receiver in an age where we didn't throw as much. He had far less drops and less of an ego than Braylon too.
Woodson (on offense) brought that Braylon and D. Alexander (and Toomer and Hayes and Walker and Calloway and Terrell) did not. AC is easily the bigger talent, better representative to the University, and more important hisorical M football figure.
those records will fall sooner or later.
Braylon also will always have his history of drops, such as the 3rd down drop he had that could have iced the Rose Bowl against V.Young.
Did he drop some balls? Sure. But he was about as big in big games as anyone I've watched at Michigan in the 25 or so years I've been paying attention. A notch below Desmond and Woodson, but just a notch.
Go look at his stats at mgoblue.com. In his three years he went over 100 yards receiving three times against OSU, twice against MSU, and in all three bowl games. He was a great college player.
A lot of people want to denigrate what he did at UM because he's been kind of a dumbass since leaving and flamed out as a pro, but the two things are separate. He was a great player, and also kind of a dumbass.
But picking out one play in a game where he gets 10 catches for 109 yards and 3 touchdowns, while running twice more for 17 yards is kinda silly. If our defense hadn't trimmed their finger nails that day he was probably right up there with Breaston and Henne for Rose Bowl MVP.
Braylon seems to have been born with two mouths and one ear instead of the other way around. The same mentality that makes him think his alumni contribution to Michigan should allow him to decide who wears the number "1" has come back to bite him on the butt again.
This is what happens when you mix a person with a Napolean complex and a diva WR.
I am one year older and I went to middle school with Braylon at U of D Jesuit Academy and then Michigan with him in the early 2000s. Braylon is and will always be who he is. I remember when he arrived at the Jesuit Academy as a skinny 7th grader who still had the high pitched voice. He thought he was "all that" because of his dad and the fact that he was running in national track meets in Hershey, PA but cried when he got cut from the basketball team. He was picked on constantly and always felt the need to prove himself.(Ohio nightclub incident)
No one thought that he would ever do the things that he did at U of M as he didn't mature physically until much later in high school. If I remember correctly he started off going to high school at Detroit Martin Luther King and did not play football there before he went to Bishop Gallagher.
In 2001, his freshman season in AA, Lloyd Carr called Braylon a candy ass during a team meeting to which Braylon replied, "Shut up Droopy!". This is the infamous incident that led to the two of them to not be on the same page. So yes it was he who you saw running the stadium steps. I also remember Braylon and Chris Perry sucker punching an associate of mine at a house party in 2001 because my friend was a non-athlete getting more girls than them.
Like someone on this board said it before, "Braylon's gonna Bray"
In 2001, his freshman season in AA, Lloyd Carr called Braylon a candy ass during a team meeting to which Braylon replied, "Shut up Droopy!".
What? I have a hard to believing something like this. It'd be like if a player said "Shut up Fatty" to Hoke. That calls for a level of disrespect (for your freaken HC) that is just beyond what I can imagine. I mean, I know Braylon's gonna Bray, but that's a bit much. I guess he got over it later since he went to "Lloyd Carr's University of Michigan".
It seems strange to me that nobody has been given that number since the scholarship was created. Is that correct? How many years has it been?
As I understand it, the scholarship states that the player with the #1 jersey gets it, and if there is no #1 then it basically just funds one player's scholarship. I know Brandon Graham got it one year. Edwards' foundation site says Steve Breaston got it, but I don't think he ever wore #1.
I don't have a problem with it -- I'm just wondering of anyone knows of any recent news about it. I guess it was held out to not steal the thunder of #21 and the others unretired this year. Certainly Hemingway or Roundtree could have worn it.
It's a given that #2 will eventually get a jersey patch. With regard to #1, to my mind, only AC was great enough to have his number retired. Carter started the tradition -- without him, #1 would never have been given to Edwards. A dual patch with Carter and Edwards would be a travesty, IMHO. I wonder if Edwards is big enough of a man to admit that, and let Carter have a patch.
I wonder if Edwards is big enough of a man to admit that, and let Carter have a patch.
I agree that the only receiver worthy of a patch on the #1 jersey is Anthony Carter. If we want to honor him accordingly someday and Braylon objects, there's no law saying we have to take his money.
He had going for him in the NFL was that beard.
No thanks. Not until he changes his attitude and general outlook towards life. (Said in Vince Vaughn's voice in "Wedding Crashers")
I'm shocked the Lions haven't picked him up yet seeing they need receivers. He will fit right in. Kind of a head case and can't catch the big ones.
