Braylon Edwards on SNF

Submitted by MGoGarbs on
Braylon introduced himself as being from "Lloyd Carr's University of Michigan." Think that's a hint at his displeasure towards RRod and the new regime? IME, if you're Blue, you're Blue, no matter who the coach is.

But I think Braylon's comments echo the feelings of a lot of former players I've spoken to including a few from the group that just graduated. Thusfar, Rick Leach is the only one I have spoken to who outwardly backs him. A few are various stages of indifferent ranging from interest in his system to his past track record. A whole lot are just flat out not happy whether its because they didn't like the hire in the first place or they're just not liking the losing and end of the various streaks.

Haha, the first thing was I thought was - man, I need to bring this up on the forum. I'm shocked as well - this is like the time he wore the Penn State shirt before the PSU game in RR's first year. We need all the support we can get - not this stuff. Hopefully he'll change his tune after next year.

Uh Braylon never played for Rich Rod Lloyd was and is awesome and deserving of recognition If you want to say I'm intentionally obtuse, that's fine, but it's not like he said "Lloyd Carr's University of Michigan which used to not suck before this dumbass showed up"

Do you know what a straw man is? Because I could have sworn the board was accusing Braylon of anti-Rich Rod propaganda, to which I responded with his continuation of an annual scholarship even during Rich Rod's tenure. That strikes me as fairly on-topic. But hey, if you want to outcast Braylon for honoring the only college coach he had, have fun.

smarter than this, no one is that naive. I love Braylon, but his comment was out of place. This is not the same as saying your high school's name, because he specifically mentioned Carr to the exlusion of the rest of the program. It's not that big of a deal, just an immature dick move on his part.

Did Mark Sanchez say "Pete Carroll's University of Southern California"? Have you ever heard ANYONE say something like that? Braylon's got an axe to grind and he thought this was a good idea. Unfortunately, Braylon hasn't been making good life decisions lately--ie) beating up one of LeBron's boys in Cleveland, knocking up a reality show contestant, etc...

Exactly. If Braylon really loves the U of M, which he does, then he needs to voice his feelings some other way. You support the coach and go talk to him in person if need be. I still love Bray Bray but he did not think this one through.

And continuing to support RR and the program with scholarships and training with Barwis during the off-season. Except for the gaff with the #1 that was quickly fixed, do you have anything to believe that Braylon is anti-RR? No.

And Woodson would sometimes say - "You know the school." This argument can go both ways. I think he is just giving props to Lloyd. There is no way you can prove this one way or another. Not everything is an attack on RR.

can come from a comment like that, has Braylon just lost his mind since going pro? Shut up, play ball, support your alma mater. If he was worrying less about stuff like that maybe he'd actually be playing up to his talent level again.

So if I establish a scholarship at U of M, can I do anything I want and it would be ok? Watch out RichRod, as soon as I establish a scholly you are getting junkpunched for these last 2 years. Shouldn't the fact that he established the scholarship be one of the main reasons he should be supporting the football team right now? Or is it really that important to him that we have a divided fan base (and athletic department) right now?

Braylon and Lloyd are on the "same page" these days. I doubt Braylon would've been so complimentary of Lloyd when they were not on the "same page" during his playing days. I like Braylon but c'mon. No need for cheap shots. Also no need for the Jets to make the playoffs based on wins over second and third string versions of the Colts and Bengals.
