Braylon Edwards Charity Basketball Game

Submitted by VictorsValiant09 on

I attended the game earlier tonight, and it was quite a treat to see all the greats out on the Crisler floor.

Of special mention, was Jimmy King and Brent Petway.  Both of those guys can still play, and Air Georgia let loose with a few signature dunks.

Also, it was nice to meet Braylon Edwards, Steve Breaston, and Mike Hart, and get a few things autographed.

Even though Edwards hasn't been the most supportive person of the current staff and everything, he should really be applauded for all the time, effort and money he puts towards the program.

Has by all accounts done great charity work in Cleveland and hes' dome some excellent and unselfish work in the Detroit area.  I just did'nt agree with his take on RR, but that take is minor compared to what he has meant to disadvantaged kids.

His recent comments about RR were pretty fair IMO.

"He's past the hot seat, and he has to make it work," said Edwards, who threw out the first pitch for Thursday's Tigers-Nationals game at Comerica Park. "If he can't -- me being one of the alumni guys -- I want someone that can make it work. We've been patient. If it doesn't go right this year, we'll have to find a guy that can make it work with that winged helmet."

I was there too! got my ticket stub autographed by Braylon and my queme los barcos T-shirt signed by Jason Richardson (right under queme los sofas). i grew up a spartan and he was my favorite growing up. But then i saw the light and went to the greatest university out there. I also got a couple of the players jerseys from the game, shorts, and nike bag. quite a successful night.

Based on that video, it looks like there were only a few hundred fans at the game.  That is too bad, but it is extremely difficult to get a crowd at a exhibition/charity basketball at any time of the year, let alone in mid-June.  Would be impossible to get football/basketball players any other time of the year I guess though.
