I loved Braylon when he was at U of M. But seriously? This guy has turned into such a joke. Sigh.
Mount St. Mary's hired a private equity CEO to be their president. You'll never guess what happened next.
I loved Braylon when he was at U of M. But seriously? This guy has turned into such a joke. Sigh.
I agree. There were times - e.g., 2005 MSU - when I've never seen a college wide receiver dominate a game like Braylon did. In fairness, though, do you remember how frustrating he was early in his career? I'm not even talking about the disciplinary stuff; I just remember so many dropped passes at inopportune times. I can't say I'm all that surprised about how his NFL career has gone.
When he dropped that sure TD against USC I about lost it. That was teh definition of facepalm.
At least he tackled Tedd Ginn that game and didn't let him return a punt for a TD...amirite?
Braylon was in the NFL in 2005.
I think you mean the triple OT MSU game on 10/31/2004, also known as Braylonfest.
late in his career. Junior year, Oregon, Iowa, SC. Two are wins if he holds on to the ball every once in a while, the other one is at least competitive.
He sure isn't acting like a Michigan man, thats for sure.
I think we all know what school he is acting like he went to.
Plus this guy still hasn't signed with an NFL team...what is he thinking?
I thought he had turned things around when he decided to come back for his final year and at the beginning of his senior year when he was all business. It seemed like Lloyd had given him a good talking to. Maybe Lloyd needs to give him another call to set him straight.
1) Nothing good happens after 2 a.m.
2) The internet is not your friend. Repeat: The internet is NOT your friend.
3) Entourages...don't have them.
4) Call a cab. Call a limo service. Call me. But yes, you are too drunk to drive.
"Can't blame him for it, other than maybe he needs some better friends."
So yes you can blame him for getting his name dragged through the mud. At this point he should know not to hang out with a crew that would do something like that.
Especially when in my mid-twenties and having moderate success.
What Braylon needs to learn is that many of those things can happen before 2 a.m., and they don't need to be preceded by entourage deployment and 18 shots of jagermeister.
Oh I could never stay mad at him!
But seriously, get your shit together Braylon, you don't even have a team to play for next year (yet). Come on!
You sure as hell are allowed to be a jackass as long as you make us them touchdowns, derp! /s
Seriously, and we're complaining about other schools' "win at all costs" attitudes?
Sorry, where were his legal troubles WHILE he was a player at Michigan?
Wow, my unwavering support for the guy is starting to...waver.
I feel the same way. My first year in Michigan was 2003 when Braylon hit the scene. I've stood by him even though he powerbombed me on the snow in front of the co-eds during the South Quad-West Quad Snow War, the repeated stupid comments he's made throughout his career, the problems with the law, and the (many) drops. But I'm borderline fed up with the way he has chosen to behave. It reflects negatively on the program and is disrespectful to his many supporters and Michigan Men everywhere.
He talks the talk, but can't crawl his way out of trouble. Regardless of whether he is a free agent or not, timing is not the issue. There simply is no excuse for having friends who stab bartenders with knives and forks.
Braylon is a free agent; the Jets have already signed two wide receivers, so he's no going back there. You think any GM is going to want to make a contract offer in the next few days with this story out there? Well, other than the Raiders.
I mean, he does realize no one believes that for a second right? Also, in what world does stabbing someone with a fork consist of "knowing how to fight"?
it's better than throwing a shoe
Honestly, who throws a shoe.
He beat the hell out of a guy with his own shoe after the guy threw it at him....throwing a shoe is a good way to get a nike print on your forehead.
I know better than reply but 99% of your post are about other people sucking. You can look at all of your posts. Is your life so bad that all you have to do in life is be a cock-knuckle to people on Mgoblog? Seems they should add cock-knuckle as "on topic" around here. Sorry I am not up to your standards.
Ask Charles Rogers' ex-girlfriend
Only in Jackie Chan's world in which you find yourself having to fight your way through 25 chef's knife-weilding, black-belted thugs in the kitchen of a Chinatown restaurant on your way to rescue the president's daughter who is locked in the walk-in freezer.
The guy has turned into a disgrace, pure and simple. At some point, he needs to get help and grow up before he ends up doing something that will put him behind bars.
to be clear, edwards wasn't the one forking or knifing right? I feel like people are missing that. It's like when you go to the bar with your friend (THAT friend) and they get forking on the brain. All you can do is try to get them out the door, but good luck with that.
You put yourself into a position where trouble just somehow magically finds you. Maybe he needs to pick some new friends.
This is why members of an entourage should only be allowed to be near sporks.
Guy's an asshole. Not a lot surprising about any of this.
Yeah no kidding. Isn't time we stop his bullshit scholarship , AKA ego tripping on the no.1. Nobody will ever wear that jersey again if we leave it up to him.
I thought he was a good reader, but I'm starting to question that assumption. I'm not optimistic that we'll be on the same page again any time soon, but I hope I'm wrong.
Actually, until I just saw this thread I'd been pretty upset about the Jets FA moves. I wanted Braylon over Holmes (though I preferred to resign both, and I don't like overpaying Cromartie or signing Plaxico), and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the Jets managment was thinking. He had a great season last year, went to voluntary workouts out west with Sanchez, and was saying the right things about wanting to be a Jet, even if he got better offers elsewhere. I was proud to wear my Jets #17 jersey on Sundays last year. I thought he would learn from his DUI and finally turn the corner, regain his Pro-Bowl form, and start to grow up. Now this...
Someone needs to make this guy run some more stadium steps until he grows up.
I'm sure Stan will set everyone straight soon enough.
Stan just can't seem to come to grips with the fact that his son is a Grade A dipshit.
Having the big boy talk from dad might not work anymore.
......perhaps he needs someone other than himself to do his marketing.
I'm sure RCMB is having a field day with this, but Braylon didn't actually commit a crime here. It's still the same old stuff: Sparty people commit violent misdemeanors and felonies, while Wolverines usually confine it to DUI's, simple possession of pot, or sometimes not being able to keep their friends from doing something stupid.
This is much ado over nothing. He does need to get rid of the entourage and stop "living large," though. I would like to see him have a little of that money left to have a good life after he retires.
The honor of the #1 jersey is beginning to diminish with every negative report on Mr. Edwards.
I'll always remember Braylon-fest as one of the highlights of his career, but I also vividly remember his lack of effort to go down and get a ball that was thrown at his shoes against SC in the Rose Bowl. The ball took an unfortunate bounce and landed right into a Trojans hands who ran it back inside the 5, if I recall correctly. Arrghhhh.
It wasn't a lack of effort, it was a poorly-thrown ball that took a one-in-a-million, total gift ricochet...
I have a different opinion, so we'll have to agree to disagree. It was a poorly thrown ball and it was at his shoes and behind him, but big players make big plays. I'm not saying he hauls that pass in, but we'll never know because he didn't even try. He kept running his crossing route, cocked his head back in apparent frustration, and never even realized the guy picked it off.
Great players make great plays, but almost no one can completely change direction on a slant route and catch a ball thrown both at their feet and well behind them. If you don't like Braylon, that's fine, but I don't know how you can reasonably second guess that particular play. Especially when there are a few dozen better examples in his illustrious career of dropping fairly easy passes on a regular basis during his four years at Michigan...
I don't have the stomach to go back and look at that play but if I remember correctly, the ball bounced off of Braylon's heel, went straight up and the USC player grabbed it before Braylon could even turn around. It was a flukey, extremely lucky play that went USC's way, the kind of plays they have benefited from since the beginning of time. You will never see Michigan get a break like that in the Rose Bowl. If you want to be angry with Braylon in that game, be angry about that bomb on our first drive that he dropped which would have been a sure TD.
I too wish Braylon would stay out of trouble. I don't think he was ever a saint, even while at UM. But I really wish he'd stay out of the news unless he's doing something good. This is really starting to get annoying.
Always loved Braylon and always will. When you are a public figure and you go to the bar you are going to get attention good and bad. Look at the stupid Real World kids getting yelled at everywhere they go. You have to live your own life and sometimes in bars shit happens.
I think we should with hold judgment here. Two persons in his entourage were arrested, he was not, if the police thought he committed a crime they would have arrested Braylon. Are the tweets in bad taste? Yes, is bad taste a crime? No. if bad taste was a crime all MSU fans would be in jail.
If he keeps this up he may be running routes for T Pryor in good old Saskatchewan!
Because it sounds like dangerous work.
When the New York Jets replace you with Plaxico Burress in order to bring more stability to the team, and fewer off-the-field problems into the locker room, you've got issues.
I guess I was wrong in thinking that the only way to get into trouble in Birmingham was to sneak out one of the golf carts after dark.
Braylon is becoming an embarrassment. He seems like such a prick. Your twitter account was not hacked, you're like a 6 year old that's trying to avoid getting in trouble.
He chooses who to have in his "entourage," and if they're in his entourage, I'm sure he has the power to call them off and tell them not to get violent.
Nothing good happens to professional athletes after midnight. I don't know why they can't just lead calm lives - no good comes from being out at a bar and watching your friends get into an argument. Just tell them to f-ing shut it and leave!!! Its not rocket science.
We've all known them in our lives. Sometimes they're personally involved, sometimes not, but they always seem to end up connected to it.
The worst thing you can do is to hang out with a trouble magnet. Eventually, inevitably, you'll end up dragged into their black hole of dumb.
Yeah what a douchebag. Where does he get off putting inner city kids through college? The audacity.
Sticking feathers up your butt doesn't make you a chicken.
Very logical argument on your part. Comparing one of the worst dictators of the 20th Century to a guy who makes boneheaded decisions every now and then. Braylon is a loser asshole now because he doesn't live up to your standards? H
I'm pretty sure there was a thread about Braylon a while ago where I said I just don't care about Braylon anymore and you came back with the same response. If you're going to give him a pass on everything he does because he does this one thing, then go ahead and do so, but it's an idiotic thing to do.
Don't get me wrong, putting inner city kids through college like Braylon is doing is a wonderful thing. I commend him for it. But that doesn't give him a pass on all the stupid shit he does, like spurring on a fight that led to stabbings. I don't think anyone here is saying he's a bad person. We're just saying he's being a dumbass and has god awful judgement right now, and it's true.
Too many people here give players a pass for stupid shit they do just because they're associated with Michigan. Whether they're a player, former player, or even just someone that Michigan is recruiting, if they hear that they have something to do with Michigan, all is forgiven. And it's a sad thing, but it's true.
Braylon might be a really nice guy. I don't know, I've never met him. But that doesn't mean he gets a pass on all the stupid shit he does. Hell, Mel Gibson donates to multiple charities. Are you willing to give him a pass as well?
Braylon Edwards is fast approaching "human train wreck" status.
So I go to a bar with a bunch of my friends and one of them has too much to drink. This leads him/her into doing something incredibly dumb to get arrested, and I'm the asshole embarrassment? That's what were saying right?
Yes, if you are a large professional athlete that has a history of run-ins with the law, then what you say is exactly correct. You should be held to a higher standard. In such a situation, you need to manhandle the supposed "friends" that threaten to further tarnish your name by getting into a ridiculous fight in a restaurant and throw them the hell out of the place before things escalate. If you don't, you're guilty by association.
For good examples, see: Ray Lewis prosecution and the several recent lawuits filed against famous people in cases where their bodyguards go rogue and beat the piss out of people.
You can get off your soap box now. People speculate on everything, including the guilt or innocence of a suspect. And I would like to hear your opinion on "worthless" lawsuits in the court system when you find the need to litigate a small-claims matter or whatever. I suspect if that happens you won't be so critical of the court system. That said, of course there is worthless litigation (see prosecuting Casey Anthony for first-degree murder rather than going for the easier homicide charge). But if it looks like a turd and smells like a turd, its probably a turd, know what I mean?
Lol at him claiming he was "hacked"
"Wasn't me who tweeted that, was someone else. Sorry!"
It's a real shame he can't get his head on straight
has reached critical levels. As to Mr. Edwards I'll leave you with the immortal paraphrase from Coach D. Green, "He's exactly who we thought he was..."
Edwards, Braylon J. Lieutenant Colonel -125th Cartel Division
