Does Clark have much of a case? Even if the Ed Davis precedent shows you don't really have to prove two of the missed seasons were because of injury, Jeremy played in four games last year. His injury occured in the fourth quarter, almost maximizing his time in what is technically allowed to be called a redshirt year.

If the NCAA has changed their view of this to a fast and loose policy, I'm all for it. But it would still be pretty liberal to grant him a sixth year and no I don't see the valid comparison to Davis, who missed two entire seasons. Hope he's given it but I'd be surprised if there was another case like his.

You should be dismayed and CRUSHED about this news. Because, you see, on one of the 45 recruiting sites, Sebastian has a slightly higher ranking than a guy committed to Alabama with an offer from Florida State!

OK, here's the truth. Sure, recruiting websites don't know it all, and coaches know more. But when you combine a very late offer + a pretty low recruiting website ranking (1091 on 247, 114th at his position) + a weak offer sheet (BC, Rutgers, UConn, etc.), I just wasn't that excited. When the best people could say on here was that "maybe he'd be a contributor as a senior," I think most agreed. I would hope that if Michigan would add a late recruit like this, it would be a stud.

Very late offer? Not so much. He was offered in September, at the beginning of his senior year. It's not early, but that's not late, either. A ton of kids get offered during their senior year.

And I'm pretty sure your quote isn't the BEST people could say. There were people who compared him to Channing Stribling and Jeremy Clark, thinking he could follow in their footsteps as tall corners. Neither of those guys waited until senior year to contribute. Clark was a redshirt sophomore, and Stribling played a lot as a freshman.

So since I responded to the news that he was visiting earlier in the week with a "meh," can I reply to this news with a "OK, good" without getting hammered? Probably not...

anti-Bag Men contingent on this site.  They seem to believe that Bag Men don't exist without concrete evidence of their existence.  Therefore, they neg every post that mentions "Bag Men".  In your case, it was obviously meant with heavy sarcasm, but that escaped the Anti-Bag Men. So, I will upvote you.

I guess I can be one member of this contingent you refer to. I don't doubt their existence. OK?

Yet some people are so damned immature. They get so upset when a recruit decides not to commit to Michigan or a verbal commit flips to go elsewhere.

Wake up. Michigan is a great school, we have excellent athletic facilities, and Ann Arbor is a wonderful town. Yet, Michigan is not the ONLY school with this combination. Different people look for different things and ultimately decide what they think, at the time, is best for them.

Accept it. Sure, there is salesmanship involved in recruiting, but every loss of a desired recruit to a southern school does not equate to bagmen being the deciding factor. It's just so damned immature... to say nothing of unfair to the school and the recruit - basically calling them dishonest (of course, via the safety of the internet and not to their face) without any proof whatsoever.

When Michigan does it, that's great. SNAKEOIL. When someone else does it, BAGMEN.

Some people just need to grow up and learn to appropriately handle disappointment.

30 spots

27 commits

2 iffy commits

if we keep Samuels and lose Hebert, that means add 4

WR - Collins or Martin

OT - Becton or Bateman or Austin Jackson

DT - Tufule or Solomon

LB - Gay or Brooks

He just scheduled an OV, then it gets cancelled shortly after. I sort of doubt Michigan would invite him out and cancel on him like that. Maybe he decided he's solid to BC? But that's also weird because why schedule it and then cancel it? I'm gonna guess something came up and they might try to reschedule

Maybe . . . he knows that he wants to come to Michigan so thoroughly that he does not need any visit.

It does happen.

The first day I ever set foot on Michigan's campus was the day before classes started.  I never had any kind of visit.

I did my research and knew the program was a good fit. What did I care what the buildings looked like?

He was comitted to BC and got an offer from Don Brown at Michigan.  Definite upgrade.

Maybe he's coming without a visit . . .

Who knows?

If he visits - or coaches visit him - I don't think he can blue shirt. Maybe we are feeling good about getting to the hard cap of 30 and would need him to go this route? Or maybe we got good news re: a certain 6th year? -- best I can come up with in terms of how this could be a positive.
