I, for one, am tempering my expectations.

That article says that Peters has won the AA POW award twice this year.  It appears that Peters has played in 4 games.  That means he has only achieved that award half the time he has played.  I'm not sure about anyone else, but 50% doesn't get the job done for me.

I like Gentry a lot but Peters was Harbaugh's first true hand-picked QB at Michigan (Gentry was offered/committed at a time when most other QBs were already off the board or no longer had a chance to take visits, so who knows if he'd have been one of Harbaugh's top targets in a normal recruiting cycle). I think it will take until Peters is no longer an underclassmen before this will really look and feel like Harbaugh's (and only Harbaugh's) team. Until then he has to play guys that his predecessors brought in. That's not to say that he can't win with them, but when a new coach comes in, I think its reasonable to wait until their first full recruiting class are upper classmen before you can judge how successful or unsuccessful their stamp on the program has been. All things are relative, so whatever this program accomplishes during 2015-2017, 2018 and beyond should still be an improvement over these next few years.

It's going to be really interesting at the QB position going forward.  I must say that especailly if Morris is red-shirted, Harbaugh has done pretty much everything a coach can do to set up UM with the best possible QB situations going forward.  Personally, I'm most excited about Gentry just because if he can put it together, that kid has a ridiculously high ceiling.  That being said, if I had to bet, I think Peters is the guy of future for UM.  He just looks so damn good his senior year, plus comes with the hand picked by Harbaugh stamp of approval.

Yeah, no source.  Not that it's a provable thing anyway.  I don't suggest you take it as gospel anyway, as I haven't, just that reports suggested that (I've heard a few people say it).

I'm just saying that if we're making predictions for starting QB next fall, O'Korn should be the prohibitive favorite there until we get any info suggesting otherwise.

True. I don't think incumbency will guarantee him the job, though. With the culture of competition Harbaugh is building, he will have to watch his back because Gentry and Peters will have some time in the system by then.

but many don't think Morris can compete. I don't know if he will or won't make it but I'm willing to give Harbaugh more time with him before I write him off.

I think he has an uphill battle given what has been said about O'Korn but there is a long time to develop until the 2016 season starts.

If it's clearly not going to work out here I'd like to see Shane be able to transfer to a good MAC program and get some playing time and positive exposure. Same for Malzone, if depth remains strong otherwise. With Shane at a Western and Alex at a Central or Toledo, you could have some interesting things happen. Morris v. Malzone in Tuesday MACtion, get those guys a little ESPN exposure ... heck who knows maybe even some draft grades for Morris at least.

And there's Speight too.

btw as a fan this stuff intrigues me but I feel awful even writing about how this dream of theirs might not happen. Others on this blog obviously don't feel as bad.

...then why not Morris? Guy came in with one issue, and as of last year still had it. If Hoke's ineptitude could take Devin Gardner BACKWARDS, then why not Morris as well? Morris reminds me of freshman Ryan Mallett. He turned out ok once he had a decent coach and got his head in the game. Shame it wasn't with us, but the guy was apparently a Grade-A Asshole.

There's a theory that Henne just straight up beat our Gutierrez in camp and the shoulder thing was more of a cover story (may have had some truth to it, but it wasn't the whole story) so as not to diminish his NFL chances. Note that Gutierrez never took the job back in 2005 and only saw garbage time in 3 games that year.

If he had 3 stars next to his name (which he probably should have) like Bellomy you wouldn't be calling me a dick. I can deal with that. Some people can't get past the hype he had coming in. But at some point, every one of us has to accept that Morris simply is not the dominant player the recruiting services led us to believe.
