Brandon Peters All-America Player of the Week
Sorry all I found was the freep link, but it was a positive one.
ff; dc (F the freep; didn't click): Brandon Peters was named US Army All-America player of the week.
Exciting recruit for sure.

I, for one, am tempering my expectations.
That article says that Peters has won the AA POW award twice this year. It appears that Peters has played in 4 games. That means he has only achieved that award half the time he has played. I'm not sure about anyone else, but 50% doesn't get the job done for me.

He coached some Luck guy, but I've not heard much about him.
September 18th, 2015 at 1:19 PM ^
I believe he is an architect. I know it's not true, but it's what I BELIEVE.
September 18th, 2015 at 2:19 PM ^
Wow, I was worried that you were saying that YOU were an architect. That would be worrisome.

Please tell me that structure is 100% panda dung adobe.
September 18th, 2015 at 1:31 PM ^
he's had some Luck in the past.

I see what ya did there.

I like Gentry a lot but Peters was Harbaugh's first true hand-picked QB at Michigan (Gentry was offered/committed at a time when most other QBs were already off the board or no longer had a chance to take visits, so who knows if he'd have been one of Harbaugh's top targets in a normal recruiting cycle). I think it will take until Peters is no longer an underclassmen before this will really look and feel like Harbaugh's (and only Harbaugh's) team. Until then he has to play guys that his predecessors brought in. That's not to say that he can't win with them, but when a new coach comes in, I think its reasonable to wait until their first full recruiting class are upper classmen before you can judge how successful or unsuccessful their stamp on the program has been. All things are relative, so whatever this program accomplishes during 2015-2017, 2018 and beyond should still be an improvement over these next few years.

It's going to be really interesting at the QB position going forward. I must say that especailly if Morris is red-shirted, Harbaugh has done pretty much everything a coach can do to set up UM with the best possible QB situations going forward. Personally, I'm most excited about Gentry just because if he can put it together, that kid has a ridiculously high ceiling. That being said, if I had to bet, I think Peters is the guy of future for UM. He just looks so damn good his senior year, plus comes with the hand picked by Harbaugh stamp of approval.

I think O'Korn starts next year. Any word on how he has been doing in PRACTICE?

Yea he seems like a football player.
/Punches self in face.
But really, he looks good.

This video would make a great drinking game. practice.

but having a lot of college game experience under his belt doesn't hurt his chances.
September 18th, 2015 at 12:53 PM ^
Apparently O'Korn would be starting this season if he was allowed to. He's legit and it would be a huge upset if he doesn't start next fall.

Yeah, no source. Not that it's a provable thing anyway. I don't suggest you take it as gospel anyway, as I haven't, just that reports suggested that (I've heard a few people say it).
I'm just saying that if we're making predictions for starting QB next fall, O'Korn should be the prohibitive favorite there until we get any info suggesting otherwise.
September 18th, 2015 at 12:43 PM ^
Expecting it to be O'Korn's to lose in 2016, then an all-out battle in 2017, between Viramontes, Peters, Gentry, and oh yeah, Malzone.
Remember the days of Clayton Richards, Gutierrez, and Henne?
An embarassment of riches - Wooo!

O'Korn will be here in 2017.

lol stop it with the Morris talk. He's basically David Cone at this point.
September 18th, 2015 at 1:40 PM ^
.... Riiiiiiggghhhttt.
September 18th, 2015 at 1:41 PM ^
but many don't think Morris can compete. I don't know if he will or won't make it but I'm willing to give Harbaugh more time with him before I write him off.
I think he has an uphill battle given what has been said about O'Korn but there is a long time to develop until the 2016 season starts.
September 18th, 2015 at 1:44 PM ^
If it's clearly not going to work out here I'd like to see Shane be able to transfer to a good MAC program and get some playing time and positive exposure. Same for Malzone, if depth remains strong otherwise. With Shane at a Western and Alex at a Central or Toledo, you could have some interesting things happen. Morris v. Malzone in Tuesday MACtion, get those guys a little ESPN exposure ... heck who knows maybe even some draft grades for Morris at least.
And there's Speight too.
btw as a fan this stuff intrigues me but I feel awful even writing about how this dream of theirs might not happen. Others on this blog obviously don't feel as bad.

Offseason: everyone believes Matt Gutierrez will be the starter.
First game warmups: Gutierrez's shoulder falls apart.
First snap: who the hell is Chad Henne?
Post game: This Henne guy looks decent.
September 18th, 2015 at 1:37 PM ^
There's a theory that Henne just straight up beat our Gutierrez in camp and the shoulder thing was more of a cover story (may have had some truth to it, but it wasn't the whole story) so as not to diminish his NFL chances. Note that Gutierrez never took the job back in 2005 and only saw garbage time in 3 games that year.
September 18th, 2015 at 2:04 PM ^
If you didn't know who Henne was when then you weren't paying attention. And yes I know that 90% of the stadium that day problaby just shows up on game day and has no idea who half the team is.
September 18th, 2015 at 4:49 PM ^
Henne was a 5 star recruit so I don't think anyone was that surprised.
September 18th, 2015 at 1:19 PM ^
That is all.
September 18th, 2015 at 1:30 PM ^
Morris is an afterthought at this point in light of Rudock, OKorn, Gentry, and Peters and Viramontes coming in next year. I know he's technically our #2 this year but that's more by default than anything else.
September 18th, 2015 at 2:29 PM ^
Nope.
FTR you're kind of a dick. How do you know Morris is an afterthought?
Oh yeah, you're one of those guys who just likes typing words.
September 18th, 2015 at 4:12 PM ^
It's not like they said he isn't going to play because he smells like cheese or sucks eggs or something.
September 18th, 2015 at 4:24 PM ^
September 18th, 2015 at 4:26 PM ^
If he had 3 stars next to his name (which he probably should have) like Bellomy you wouldn't be calling me a dick. I can deal with that. Some people can't get past the hype he had coming in. But at some point, every one of us has to accept that Morris simply is not the dominant player the recruiting services led us to believe.
September 18th, 2015 at 12:34 PM ^
This is breathtaking news!

I keep irrationally having a hard time being excited about Peters because he has just the most generic name in the world. Slowly overcoming that bizarre mental block w/ all the hype that's coming in.
September 18th, 2015 at 1:03 PM ^
How can you get more generic than Tom Brady?
