Brandon: No Monday Announcement.

Submitted by BlockM on

From his twitter:

Heard about a "rumor" re: some "big announcement" on Monday regarding M-Football. Add it to the rumor rubbish pile! Happy Thanksgiving!

Can we please just stop and agree that if a change is made, it won't be until after the bowl game?

Damage control. I mean, the ye olde "vote of confidence" has never come right before a manager or coach got whacked, right?

It's funny, the selective believing going on here. Everyone doubts a rumor that RR is gonna get the axe on Monday, but believes with all their hearts and souls that this Tweet solves the problem once and for all and Rich Rodriguez is going to be the coach forever and ever AAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMEEEEEENNNNNNNN.

If, and I mean IF--OSU whacks UM on Saturday, Rodriguez will either be shit canned Monday or announce his resignation. PERIOD.

The only advantage to keeping him is the buyout that goes down after the first of the year.

I'm pretty sure buyout plays no role, maybe a very insignificant role at best.  What matters is consistent improvement, which both RR and Harbaugh have displayed.  And, since RR is currently our coach, why would we exchange him for Harbaugh?  Only two reasons I can think of is the violations, and RR not being a "Michigan Man" (whatever that really means). Do those really cause for a coaching change?  Doubtful.

But at least these people are never banned despite being obvious trolls.  To take two examples, I fundamentally disagree with jmblue and Bando 90% of the time (near 100% with Bando).  But they are not trolls.  They have rational opinions with reasons and thought backing them up.  I just don't like those opinions, and that's fine.

Why Spoof and Ed and the 100 other names (probably just 10 people) that post the same nonsense over and over and over have survived all week despite constant negging and blatant trolling is beyond me.

to tell us about the "announcement", or the thought of DB being manipulated by the media. Regardless, I enjoy ending my workday with a good laugh.

This isn't directed at the OP, that would not make me laugh. I am speaking of the lemmings and their various and sundry minions.

Are we really parsing what Brandon tweeted, which seems pretty obvious - to me, anyway - that there is not an imminent change at the helm of the program, into a "Wait! It could mean that he'll do it Tuesday!" Or some equally B.S., paranoid schizophrenia?

"Add it to the rumor rubbish pile! Happy Thanksgiving!"

I wonder if Brandon would consider adopting a middle-aged alum and football fan?  If so, I'd like to volunteer myself for that experiment.

Aside: Who's going to volunteer to metaphorically shove that tweet up Lynn Henning's backside?

I would like to think that they're actively pursuing defensive staff right now, and if a good one was ready to sign on, we would nab him before the bowl so we could benefit from improved coaching until then, and give the guy more time to recruit, rather than drop bombs and not give the school time to replace players recruited by outgoing coaches.

Let me admit that I am not a very objective or critical fan.  Since I was 6 I have demonstrated the ability with UM football to ignore any and all problems and be somewhat mystified when, whatever their record, their not voted #1 or invited to the BCS championship game.  Maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit.

But here's kind of what I think/hope/expect re RichRod (keeping in mind I'm unable to be too critical of the team).

I think that RichRod is an offensive genius.

I hope that the failures of the defense this year will have scared him to death, as he realizes that he could actually be fired for a bad defense.

I expect that next year, and for every year thereafter, he will not overlook the defense, or overlook the necessity of having the right defensive staff/personnel/recruiting, and our defense will never be this bad again.

that with all the rumors circulating that it's not Dave Brandon who will make the decision, but Rodriguez who just says the heck with it all and takes a hike.

As his mother said when he took the job and visited UM. "You could literally put 3 WVU's inside UM. This is where Rich belongs. He's had problems everywhere he's been, but only temporary and they've made him stronger. His whole focus will be on returning Michigan back to where it belongs, and that's on top of the football world. And he'll be successful in doing that."  I believe moms, and his definitely.

"  It's not as simple as win-loss records. It's just not. People want to try to make it that simple, but there are so many things you have to look at when you measure the strength of a program. You've got to look at your pipeline of recruits, your academic performance of recruits as well as your current student-athletes. You have to look at the staff; how the staff's performing and working together.

I'm going in those locker rooms before the game, during the game and after the game and practices, seeing how the team responds in difficult situations. Going over the game films and finding out exactly where the breakdowns occur and why they occur. I do that.

There's a lot to play for, and hey, this team's playing for respect. They have been since the beginning of the season. If you look at the three losses we've had, Michigan State we just played poorly.

Those other two losses, we went down by three touchdowns in each of those games and came back in the fourth quarter and were literally a possession away from being able to win those games back after being three touchdowns down. That doesn't sound like a team that gives up or lacks confidence. That's a team that can score quickly and always believes they're competing. I like that about this team. "

DB wanted to announce the MNF game will be terrible, my poor niners suck.  Troy Smith is the QB, for crying out loud.  Lets see Alex Smith sucks, David Carr sucks! Nate Davis has learning problems.  I should just root for the lions :s least they have Shaun Hill ex-niner. sucky!
