This is a pretty forceful vote of confidence if you read Brandon's post on the U of M athletics website..much stronger than the Angelique article most of these comments refer to. Amazing how a recruit could force this in a day. This Peppers recruitment is going to be quite the soap opera the next couple months.

Another thing to keep in mind regarding ESPN starting the Hoke "hot seat" rumors is that ESPN is heading up the SEC network starting in 2014. If you don't think they'll take any opportunity to sway the top recruits to SEC then you are naive. They want the SEC to continue to dominate for ratings and $.

Which part of that do you think is a conspiracy? I think we can all agree ESPN is interested in making money, and the success of the SEC, and subsequently the SEC network, give them the best chance of making the most money. To me, the conspiracy is why ESPN controls as much of the sports worldview as they do, when there's clearly a conflict of interest.

Brandon, because of his experience as a Michigan player and as AD, understands the situation that Michigan is in more than anyone. He knows where Michigan was when he took over the AD's position, and he knows where Michigan was at the end of the Carr tenure.
The most important sentence in his quote is, "It's about building a program." Meaning, Michigan isn't there yet. It's one thing to take over for a coach who had all the tools at his disposal, like Zook at Florida, but just never seemed to get over the hump. That is not Michigan. As I've said elsewhere, Michigan was a shell of its former self, despite what many people refused to believe. Hoke was brought in to rebuild the program, and doing anything disrupt that process now could be send Michigan into a tail spin that would take EVEN LONGER to recover from.
Young, inexperienced players who start prematurely due to roster/depth issues don't stay young and inexperienced for long. In time, they become mature and HIGHLY experienced. Then, the young guys that you have on the roster can redshirt, develop normally, and play when it is their turn, and not be pressed into service.

Other coaches have had more success with less.
Hoke has built his way to less wins each year.
Hoke's limited success has come with the previous coaches players.
If building a program takes time, why extend that time to Hoke but not Rodriguez? You can point to the records and I'm not necessarily against the firing of Rodriguez, but three years has been used to bash one coach while with another it "isn't enough time."

Since it's mgoblog, you should have made a graph: income on the x-axis, intelligence on the y-axis. And, according to you, it's a straight line, up and to the right.
Give me a break. A lot of people make money; some of them are smart.
I don't know Brady Hoke one bit. He may be the smartest guy we've ever had as coach, or the dumbest. I have no clue.
But please don't tell me that because he makes a lot of money he's some kind of genius. I've known too many people who are well off to know that this is clearly not the case.

I think this makes a lot of sense and is completely consistent with DB statement. It looks like the o line issues set up a lot of the other issues on offense. I also agree that this staff does not seem to be as crisp in-game tacticians as most programs, and that is rather concerning. Hopefully, eventually, talent from the recruiting will overcome all of this and M will wind up being the "LSU of the Big Ten" (with Coach Hoke being a less crazy and less shady version of Les Miles).
That stated, do you think that a plausible outcome will be that Borges and M part ways at the end of the season? I do. I also do not think a new external OC would be brought in, since new OC's would want to put their own position coaches in place. I think the most likely outcome (apart from no changes at all) would be the elevation of Coach Hecklinski into the OC position (although not sure what impact this would have on his current role as Recruitment Coordinator), and Coach Jackson chooses to retire. I think Coach Funk gets a pass, as his linemen are indeed very young and he has been a very good recruiter. I think this is what makes Borges expendable, since he does not really recruit at all and turns out to be Funk's saving grace this year. If all of this happens, then 2 new assistants are brought in to coach some combination of QB/WR/RB.......does this make any sense?
