Is Brandon Herron going to see the field?

Submitted by LumberJack on

Herron was a fairly highly rated recruit coming out of high school, though Brian deemed him a "project" in his commitment post.  He is now entering his fourth year at Michigan, but I have yet to notice him on the field.  What's the story here?  Did he just not pan out?  Doesn't fit into the current defensive scheme?  Something else?

In my uneducated opinion, I think Herron was kind of a tweener.  I think he was not big enough for defensive end, but too slow for linebacker.  I'm guessing he's probably backing up Roh, or at least is at that position.

Herron is Death Roh's backup. He would have started last year had Craig not been a total machine. He'll probably spend the rest of his Michigan career as a backup and on special teams. He's a reliable backup, however.

You would be correct, if I am. I was under the impression that Fitzgerald was a jack-of-all-trades backup, although Herron would be the first off the bench should anything happen to Roh.

Wasn't he the one who posted obscenely ridiculous workout numbers before last season? Too bad it doesn't seem to be translating to the field.
