According to Sam Webb and Scout.com.

RT @23gene: Miles is not the only coach Brandon will be speaking with. I'm hearing that a coach from one of this years BCS bowls is a target

After "Miles is going to Michigan" turned into "didn't even talk to him" last time around, I really don't see Miles being a guy Brandon is going after.  I have no problem if he's hired, but it seems like such an easy story to throw out there (seems so plausible) while at the same time none of the actual players on the Michigan end seem all that anxious to bring him on board.

Also, if he was the target, wouldn't this have already happened?  I can't see the Cotton Bowl stopping Brandon from making contact and working on a deal.  I also don't see Miles interviewing for the job along with other people unless he really wants to piss off LSU for no reason.  This would either happen or it wouldn't without Miles having to print out copies of his resume.

I doubt we'll hear anything until the actual announcement.  Also the comments of LSU AD and the fact that published articles seem to all be about sources saying Miles would take the job if offered.  Supposedly he would give LSU's AD 24 hour notice of an interview which also hasn't happened.

I think we'll all be in the dark until Brandon says, "Here's the coach."  Of course that won't stop me from spending all day following the nonsense that precedes that announcement.

That thought crossed my mind too.

Of all the coaches in BCS bowls:

- VT:  Beamer - doubtful.  He's old

- UConn - Edsall left for MD

- Stanford - :(

- Ark - Petrino - huge buyout

- OSU - Tresselll - Would be too fuckin weird, not gonna happen

- Wisc. - Bielema - do not want

- TCU - Patterson - Just signed the extension

- Oklahoma - Stoops

Leaving Oregon and Auburn....  Kelly and Chizik aren't going to explore other opportunities on the eve of an MNC game.

Out of all those, Stoops actually seems the most plausible at this point.

Maybe that varies per coach?  JH probably wanted to be left alone to focus...  Gus Malzahn, perhaps he's just viewing it as engaging in conversation... we're getting down to the wire, and perhaps he (a Coordinator, looking for the next gig) has less bargaining power than Harbaugh?

I don't know, just quick thoughts.  If we're nabbing Malzahn, we can't afford to wait till Monday night/Tuesday morning to start talking to him.

Finally, more rumors!  Please, please, please.... when I wake up tomorrow morning, roll out of bed, and go to MGoBlog, please let there be a coach announced.

Joe Schadd just said live on ESPN radio Miles to Michigan.. (Posted on 1/8/11 at 9:42 p.m.) is pretty much done deal once they meet, and that Pellini is the front runner. Host asked why Pellini, who's doing great at Nebraska. Shadd said Pellini is not happy administration didn't break their neck to defend his childish immature actions against his qb and the officials in the A&M game.

sorry for posting in two spots, but the Tiger Droppings crew are reporting Joe S. said Miles to MI is a done deal  and that Pelini will be the main target to fill the LSU slot.

Dominos will fall (no pun intended).

Will be interesting to see if Brian has another late night post tonight.
