If he actually plays a full year in the NHL, the bonuses are ridiculously easy to tap into. So he'd make more than his indicated salary. However, it's unlikely he'll play in NJ until he puts in at least 2 seasons with Albany. College kids usually take longer to crack the big league team, especially with an organization like NJ.

Burlon fits in well
in NJ's style and Lamierello (sp?) loves US college players. Provided Burlon keeps working, in today's NHL, those two way contract guys are gold since they're a miniscule cap number. If guys get hurt in the NHL and a team is near the cap limit (which NJ almost always is), the two way contract guys get shuttled back and forth a lot between AHL & NHL since they're essentially free to the NHL team based on their average cap number. I'd expect one full year in the AHL to make sure he's a competent pro, then by year 2 he'll be back and forth with NJ to see if he's a NHL'er.
