Brady Vs Henne: An end of an Era of UM QBs in the NFL?

Submitted by Hoken's Heroes on
Could this be the last time we see UM QB's play each other? Of course Brady and Henne will most likely play against each other again but what are the chances of UM ever producing another NFL ready QB again? Odds are not too likely under the spread. Not saying it won't happen let's be realistic. The odds aren't in favor of it. Does it bother me? No. I'd rather have UM winning Big 10 titles and NCs rather than care if a kid goes to the NFL. And while I type, Henne and Miami are trying to eek out a win in the final minute of the game...and BAMM, a MIAMI FG to put Miami at 22 to 21 with just over a min to go...

As a Giants fan, I can assure that the loss of 3 of their top 5 DB's, two of their top 3 LB's, and numerous members of their DL rotation has more to do with their sucktitude than Sheridan. Their starting backfield was supposed to be: Kenny Phillips Aaron Ross Michael Johnson Corey Webster Nickel: Terrell Thomas Dime: Kevin Dockery Ross hasn't played a snap, and Phillips, Johnson, and Dockery are out.

Um, Ross has been playing for a few weeks. They have been playing him at safety though. Dockery isnt out hes been playing special teams. Why Bruce Johnson is playing ahead of him is beyond me. Michael Johnson has only been out a few weeks. What 2 LB's are you talking about? Pierce just went out 2 weeks ago. Boley has been playing minus a couple games and Clark has been in all year.

what was the point of posting this? 5 people are going to say "hope not!" 2 people are going to say "why the hell did you post this?" and 4 people will go to google to surf porn.

So I called Tate and he said that porn surfing reminds him of surfer porn, which he claims originated back home in San Diego. He said that shit's totally legit. Resume MGoEngagement.

I see no reason why Forcier can't go into the NFL. He's about the same size as Drew Brees. And lets face it the Kid is going to be something special.

I think that's quite a premature conclusion. If you're talking about the lumbering dinosaur "prototypical" qb types like we're used to having, then yes, it seems to be the end of that. However, Tate, a true frosh if you recall, has shown a lot of potential and drawn comparisons to Drew Brees and Doug Flutie, both pretty successful pro qbs without prototypical height. I've heard we have another guy coming in next year who has a pretty decent rating and outperformed the top non-dual-threat guys at the Elite 11. Qbs with running ability, assuming they can be accurate and make good reads, will always be desirable in the NFL.

Bringing in RR has it's positives (+) and that will be the spread offense possibly running all over the Big Ten in the near future. You negatives (-) those top five quarterbacks being recruited by other pro style offenses who are 6'5 or 6'6 and a hell of an arm (Mallet). I am with you, I want to win Big Ten title after Big ten title...and play for the NC! Thanks for eveything!! NFL careers Henne (2008-present) Brady (2000-present) Navarre (2004-2007) Griese (1998-2009, still active) Harbaugh(1987-2001) Grbac (1993-2001) Collins (1995-present) Henson (2004-2008) Mallet in the near future??

Devin Gardner isn't just the beat dual threat qb, but the #1 overall QB in the country this year so I see no reason as to why he couldn't be another vince young type QB if his mechanics improve

Vince had the same QB coach as the girl who won the halftime show of the Florida-Alabama game...and she was the better student! OK-DG has the POTENTIAL to be something special but asking him to be another Vince Young with his feet is a tall task. I personally hope that DG has ZERO expectation on him and is ONLY asked to compete for the job in 2011 or he might be more Juice Williams then Vince over 4 years. If we see DG on the feild in any capacity next year as a late enrollee something has gone very wrong. That being said lets just hope that Urban does not send some teenage Gator Bait Devins way and he keeps his Michigan committ.

Aren't people forgetting the obvious retort of Pat White? He got drafted pretty early and he was the quintessential RR quarterback. This proves that recruiting ratings don't matter... that's what we were talking about, right? (That last bit was sarcasm BTW.)

No, because Pat White was drafted purely for the wildcat. He was not intended as a QB, and if the Dolphins weren't so committed to the wildcat he would of been a WR. I think that some of our QBs will have a chance to try and make it in the NFL, but only if they have the accuracy and arm strength required to be an NFL QB along with their legs. Tate and DG both have that opportunity, but both must develop. Also, I think we will see some of our faster, more Athlete-type QBs such as D-Rob drafted as slot receivers or other positions.
