Brady Hoke stopped by our tailgate this week!

Submitted by mGrowOld on

This year our tailgate got moved from our location of the past 15 years in front of Crisler to the hill behind the north end zone due to construction.  Like any change this one offers some good things (Canadian tailgating neighbors who play uptempo music loudly and have an open mike) and some bad things (no more clean, heated,  inside bathrooms in the mobile home).

Anyways about 90 minutes after the game Saturday, when the last beers and brats had been consumed and we were just starting to pack up, Hoke stopped by to say hello and ask us what we thought of the game.  He hit all the tailgates left around on his way out and made a point of taking pictures with anyone who wanted one (my nephew is pictured) and generally being just as good of a guy in person to the average fan as he seems in press conferences.

I think I like our new spot a lot!

Edit: On my computer a picture of Hoke with my nephew appears but for reasons my limited technical ability cannot fathom it doesnt appear on anyone elses so I changed the original content of the post.

Edt to Edit: Thanks to Electric Boogaloo my pic now actually appears on computer screens other than my own.

Upload the photo here: http://imgur.com/ Use the computer button on imgur.com then select the photo on your computer. Then hit start upload, and once it finishes it will go to a page with some links and a preview of the image. Copy the direct link url that ends in .jpg or .png most likely. The direct link will be on the right side of the page on imgur.com, after uploading. Then come to mgoblog and hit the image button:

Then put the direct link from imgur into the url box:

Then hit the OK button and we'll all see it.

You must be right next to the tailgate I was at, near the opposing team's equipment truck/trailer. All the coaches walk right past us, and I saw Coach Hoke veer off to a tailgate with 2 sheriffs escorting him. Borges looked a little somber with his young son, while Mattison kept his eyes straight ahead.

Last season, Athletics had a tailgate in the Blue Lot after the game for recruits and families and such and most of the coaches would at least stop by on their way through the lot, and would usually be cool with a chat or a handshake on their way. Borges was always especially terse, though polite, and would sometimes just wander off into nowhere looking like he was awaiting the guillotine.

Hoke, on the other hand, not only showed up, but would stand there greeting fans and taking pictures for well over an hour pretty much every week, no matter if you were in on the tailgate or not. He's remarkably approachable and open to fans on game days as any coach I've ever seen. Even heard he was out there for hours after UTL.

Sorry for the slight threadjacking, but my day was made when one of my co-workers - who is aware of my unhealthy obsession with UM sports - brought this in for me today.  I had to share...and don't have 100 points...and these would be a fine addition to any tailgate party...so I think it fits here!

It's cool.

The reason you can't edit the first picture is because someone already replied to it. Once someone replies to a post, you can no longer edit that post - I assume so people don't look crazy replying to something edited after the response.

That's why I was trying to post something quickly. I wanted double huge pop tarts before you could fix it.

For future posts, you can adjust size in the same menu you link the picture URL.

I prefer the same yard on Berkley a block from the stadium where friends have been for over 20 years. But.. This blue lot spot is envious a bit. I don't really get into the "if you don't pay high 5 figures you cant party here" theory but to each their own. I wouldn't trade my pregame tradition for anything.. But that pic is kickass!

Sounds like the karma gods looked on you kindly after the move.

And if your nephew is a pilot, I hope he gets a 747...because at his height a small fighter type plane would be a small fit.
