Brady Hoke

After Brady Hoke's first press conference, we knew he was right for Michigan. After his first season at the helm of the winningest program in college football history, an 11-2 season with a Sugar Bowl victory, we knew he was right for Michigan. But after tonight, I am 100% positive he is right for Michigan.

I sat a section over from all of the football coaches and recruits, and I have NEVER seen a head football coach, at a university of this size, be so into a basketball game like he was tonight.  He yelled at the refs on about all of the terrible calls, was the only person standing up in his section clapping, cheering multiple times during the game. If I didn't know who he was (like my girlfriend) I would have thought he was just a regular, maniac about this basketball team. He truly loves this university and what it stands for, and you could see it in his actions.

AND, you add on the 6 commits he was able to reel in today, the man can flat out recruit. These sports programs and this university are on the uprise even though we are already at the top.

Actually, as someone else mentioned in another thread, there was precedent, and at Michigan.

See July 8, 2003.  Probably not the same fan experience without the mgoblog effect, but 6 commits (including one Mike Hart) nonetheless.

Edit: Of note, only 4/6 commits then were 4-stars, and July is a bit different than February.

While it may be unprecedented at UofM, it appears Florida had quite the day on the recruiting trail today as well. They also pulled in 6 recruits, and like us, have 8 of their 9 recruits in the 4* range. Not to take anything away from what Hoke did, but some southern schools like Florida and Texas do this type of thing on their Junior Days yearly.

It really exists and Hoke has whatever "it" is in spades. Today was an off-the-charts day, and though my doubts were thoroughly dispelled during last season and the recruiting cycle, even the most hardcore of haters can't look past the accomplishments of the day and say that Hoke is anything other than a man with a cotton-pickin maize-n-blue heart. I don't agree with all of David Brandon's decisions, but the single most important decision he is ever going to make while AD at Michigan is who to hire for the head football coach. He knocked this one out of the park.

Sorry, but I never got that impression from Brandon when I was following the search.  I don't think he felt Harbaugh was the one to pursue so he never really did and besides we all knew Harbaugh wanted to go to the next level.

I felt Hoke was great from the get go!  Anytime you can get someone that wants a job as bad as he did, you know you will get complete devotion to it!  I used to hire less qualified employees over other qualified people because they showed me they wanted the position more and they always turned out to be good hires.

AS far as I am concerned I don't ever need to hear the names of Miles and Harbaugh brought up again concerning the head coaching position at Michigan, they didn't want it and it showed!!!!!!!

How is there "little question" about Harbaugh?  Has anyone ever confirmed that we offered him the job?  We may have, but it's not clear.   Brandon denies it and I don't think Harbaugh ever said anything about it.

I don't think there's anything to debate about Miles.  Miles denied that we offered.  Brandon denied it.  John Bacon, in Three and Out, definitively stated that we did not offer (and even seemed to take a shot at Brandon for not doing so).

an article was written by a guy who followed Brady Hoke around for several years during the beginning of Michigan's coaching search and the writer was saying he hopes Brady Hoke gets it because he has known for so long the genuine love he has for this school and that when receiving his SDSU job he told administration his dream job was to coach at Michigan. I knew from that sentence on I wanted that man to coach this program. Ever since his press conference I knew my feelings were correct, we couldn't ask for a more perfect match. Go Blue

"Traditionally, the longest sentence in English Literature has been said to be a sentence in Ullyses by James Joyce, which clocks in at 4,391 words. Past editions of The Guinness Book of World Records have listed this record.

However, Joyce's record has recently been surpassed. Jonathan Coe's The Rotters Club, published in 2001, contains a sentence with 13,955 words. I believe he currently holds the record in "English Literature."

However hold on to your seats...

There is also, apparently, a Polish novel, Gates of Paradise, with a 40,000 word sentence. I have been unable so far to find absolute confirmation on an author. Bramy Raju, written by Jerzy Andrzejewski, and published in 1960, translates as Gates of Paradise, but it has been described as a novella. And while there is no absolute definition of that term, novellas are usually shorter than 40,000 words.

Finally, there is a Czech novel that consists of one long sentence -- Dancing Lessons for the Advanced in Age by Bohumil Hrabal. It is this novel that Coe has said inspired his 13,955 word sentence. Hrabal's 'novel sentence' is 128 pages long, though I have been unable to find an exact word count. It most likely takes the award for longest sentence. Even if it doesn't, it dwarfs Hugo's significantly.

Your opinion has no value.

Oh definitely and I guess I mean you never really get to hear the changed opinions of the doom & gloomers on these types of articles. Here I think its safe to say by most of the recent comments those of us that were up in arms over his hiring we wrong, and happy to be so. I will be honest I didn't know what to think last January when he was announced. I did a little reading and watched his introductory press conference and I can say that afterwards I was selling him to the rest of my Michigan buddies who were still on the fence. I could not be happier with the man leading our team. It has been said before but he is here to stay this is his destination job and that mixed with everything else he brings to coaching I think has a big impact on these kids with where they decide go.
