Brad Robbins, punter. Any relation to Monte Robbins?

Submitted by Amaizing Blue on

I am lazy and semi-tech illiterate.  Monte Robbins punted when I was in school in the 80's.  Is Brad his son/nephew?  So happy we got him either way, would be even cooler if he was related to Monte.  Underrated as a punter and contributor to some of Bo's best teams.

this is a great example of a textbook thread. Provocative question: check. Something everyone is dying to know: check. And a slow-moving board to top it off: check. We are in for some hot thread action!

OP has a question: are two people related?

Interestingly, a quick google search (for "bradley robbins punter monte) shows that others are clamoring to know:

From a previous mgoblog post, user ST3 asks:
"If Brad can punt like Monte Robbins he's a definite take. Any relation?"

From a different post, user caup asks:
"Does Brad Robbins happen to be Monte's son?"

On that same thread, Roy G Biv chimes in:
"Robbins? As in Monte?"

Unfortunately, no article seems to come up that mentions any relation. I suspect, since there are actually articles about this punter, that one of them would have mentioned a relation were there one. In fact, the top results are mgoblog threads about punting.

Thus, we can safely conclude that they are not related, because the Internet knows all.

csb\  I met Monte Robbins at a country club in Kansas the night before the 2014 MSU game...very nice guy, and he seemed legitimately thrilled that I was a huge Michigan fan and alumnus.  I was getting vibes from him that football alumni were actively trying to work with Harbaugh, for what it's worth. /csb
