BR Ranks the Top 25 Freshmen for the 2017 College Football Season
Not a huge fan of Bleacher Report, but they did an interesting ranking of the top 25 freshmen for the upcoming 2017 college football year. Michigan has 3 on the list [Kareem Walker (RS), Aubrey Solomon, and Donovan Peoples-Jones].
Depending on the way the O-Line shakes out, I could see Cesar Ruiz making a top Freshmen performance list after the season concludes.

Something something Bleacher Report is forbidden something something

is that really a thing or are you just not a fan of BR? (i'm not either, but the list includes 3 of our guys... thought it's an acceptable topic). Didn't see anything in the FAQ list.

Bleacher Report isn't specifically forbidden. Up to a couple years ago, it was all clickbait and such, so the powers that be didn't like it. But since then, they've taken a more serious approach to sports writing.
The post is fine.

As I recall, there was a particular instance pre-football this past year in which a BR post was deleted from the board due to either L.S.A. or Ace finding it to be poor writing.
I personally don't care, but BiSB did mention Bleacher Report in the past. Again, I have no opinion on it.
Right. That was posted on November 7, 2013.
I don't know if Turner Broadcasting has had a positive effect on BR, but they were bought by them in 2012. BR has some writers whose work I respect. That's not to say it's 100% legitimate, but it's certainly an improvement over a few years ago. There are definitely things worth reading or watching.
They're tied in now with CNN (a Turner Broadcasting property, too). As CNN's sports news branch, that probably forces them to act with a little more journalistic integrity.

BR is fine. They used to be shitty slide-shows and Ace Williams-level "reporting", but they've turned into as good a space for general-interest sports talk as anyone.

they've come a long way in 2 years

DIdn't BR start out as a site with exclusively user-generated content? And it was mostly fanboy slide shows?
Now that they have actual staff writers the content seems no worse than anything you'll typically find on ESPN or other mainstream sports sites.

But I'm not displeased to see 3 Wolverines in the top 19!! Can't wait to see how the surplus of talented young guys develops. Happy to see Kareem Walker on the list. He could really be the X factor and an incredible 1-2 punch with Evans.
GO BLUE!!
I'm also not upset at all! I'm positively not unhappy about our youngsters!!
I'm particularly interested in Walker. If he can turn it around we really are stacked at rb.
because that's far more important for the run game.

The list is a little ridiculous. Most of these guys haven't set foot on a college campus yet, much less had any practice time. To suggest they have some way of knowing these are the "top 25" freshman without any additional info past their recruting rankings makes no sense. This is just dolled up click bait.

every other recruiting ranking and discussion that takes place on thousands of sites (including mgoblog), trying to predict a high school recruit's chances of success before they have ever taken a play on the field? How dare this writer give his opinion on such a topic! It is a travesty, given all of the other well informed opinions we get online.
Joking aside, I think the fact that Kareem Walker is on the list indicates that the writer was at least doing his homework and trying to develop the best list. Why use a redshirt freshman on your list if you were lazy? Would have been much easier to grab Rivals top 50 recruits for 2017 and quickly pick 25 of them.
Hope he is right on Walker, Solomon and DPJ! Going to be fun to watch all three.

All of these polls/rankings can be wildly inaccurate. But they are intended to stir interest, particularly out of season. I approve.

Is there one of these types of lines to get you to click, "You'll never believe who is #8" . You won't believe what #15 looks like today!"

Its Bleacher Report, not Buzzfeed.

Other top 25 lists HATE them! See their secret!

He didn't know why the crowd was cheering.

"We ranked this LB #17 and what he did next will blow your mind"

like all of these clickbait articles say it would. If it did, I'd have a horrible TMJ problem.

Also enjoy seeing how many of the names on these lists that we were in recruiting battles for until the very end. Harbaugh has expanded the recruiting footprint and it is entertaining...

are both the top 2 players that I am most excited to see playing this year.......
I hope Kareem has a big "Najee" chip on his shoulder, and is aple to use it to his advantage.
Has a lot of highly-touted Freshman egads!
Kareem Walker finishing the season as a top-25 freshman would be a very pleasant surprise.
