Exactly. The only bowls that really matter are BCS and title game.
Bowl Game outlook
Is it bad that I am just completely apathetic about our bowl game and who it is against?
Well, after today it doesn't look like Florida's going to be bowl eligible this year...
but a Gator bowl trip is almost guaranteed at this point.
Will they take a 6 win team?
They took a 6-6 ohio team in 2011 against a 6-6 florida team.
considering the alternatives, it might be ok.
None. No invites at 6-6
No one wants Michigan? Are you serious?
I'm not a fan of repeating non Rose bowls in back to back years, so I kinda would rather go to Tempe and the BWW Bowl than do Tampa and the Outback Bowl again
Agreed. I'd rather go to Tempe or to Texas than go back to Tampa.
I'm all about that Tempe game now. 10:30 pm kickoff on a weeknight...I can avoid the frustration of watching the second half b/c I'll have work in the morning.
the real thing to do is decline all bowl invites if we lose out and go 6-6
but knowing Dave Brandon, he'll make the team go to one so he can pimp out some sweet new uniformz
Anyone who declines a bowl invite is a damn fool. Extra practices.
That's the only thing that really matters in these kinds of bowls. And you get a neat little trophy and t-shirt if you win. Plus a check via bowl game payout.
Forgot about the extra practices
but you know Brandon will want some uniformz no matter what low-tier bowl we go to
No doubt. It's our new tradition.
I have no problem with it unless it is the Rose Bowl.
Maybe some red dots on the pants like Pepperoni if they play in the LCPB.
I'm suprised the Big Ten doesn't have a rule (that is, if they don't) that you can't turn down a bowl invitation due to the revenue sharing agreement.
That's part of the reason to increase the size of the conference. Don't think that we could turn one down if we wanted to. They don't want to so don't worry. You'll have the opportunity to see Al Borges one more time around the holidays.
That would the dumb thing to do. It is also an idiotic and unrealstic suggestion.
So we can lose the extra practices?
Had we won today, I would've said something like the Gator or Outback Bowl. Now I can't envision anything better than the BDubs bowl. The little Caesars bowl is a very legitimate possibility.
At this rate, I couldn't care less about the bowl itself. I only want a bowl for the extra practices.
as long as we're within two wins, and we should be, we'll go to the highest bowl possible. The Gator is in play until we actually end up 6-6... if we're 8-4 0r 7-5, we end up in Jax.
Toilet Bowl. I made a funny, you guys.
Michigan won't play in BWW bowl. 2 years ago 6-6 Ohio State took on 6-6 Florida in the Gator Bowl. We will be in Florida I'm sure. I'm still guessing Gator Bowl vs Texas AM or Ole Miss.
Michigan would lose by 5 TDs
don't be insulting.
soft coverage, no pass russ, no offense.
We'd lose by 7 TDs.
Screw the Outback Bowl. I rather not see Michigan play an SEC team this year.
Saw people projecting Michigan vs Oklahoma or Texas in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. Very winnable games. OU offense is horrendous.
Plus Michigan can do all new kinds of formations that work that they could've used during the season ala 2008 Capital One Bowl.
Winnable? Based on what? Have you not been paying attention the past couple of months?
Based on OU sucks and Big Game Bob does not win bowl games.
We would get smashed by Oklahoma, and we'd play around with Texas like what we did today. This isn't a good football team. It's the rock bottom of what the last seven years have created.
Could've said that about Nebraska and Pelini before today. Look how well that turned out.
This team needs the extra practice time.
Practice doesn't seem to be helping
Hoke says we always have GREAT practices!
He liked the intensity of it. Wait, I've got it. No one at a press conference has ever ask if they have been practicing Football during the week. Maybe they have really been preparing for some sort of Glee based production during the Ohio game.
I hope it's BWW in Tempe. Maybe that would fire Borges and I'd get to see some buddies.
Two words- pizza pizza
Pregame Pizza party at the Tiger Club @ Comerica. 10 cent slices & you get a can of pop with each slice.
Lloyd Carr presents the trophy too.
At least I'd get to see Michigan play in a bowl game in person. Don't want any part of NIU though.
Brandon could hire a plane to skywrite "Dominos" over the Little Caesar's bowl at half. Should intimidate the lunch crowd.
right here made my damn day. Thank you sir.
Painful, but priceless.
I'm proud of myself for this comment only because of the great responses on it
Who cares. We are irrelevant. I'm so sick of mediocrity.
Fuck it. Can we just go to the Detroit bowl? Just come out and tell them that's where we are playing?
Well, as late as a few days ago, Jerry Palm had us as the BIg Ten 4/5 pick playing Ole Miss in the Gator Bowl. I would imagine that there is a possibilty that ESPN's projection of Michigan in the Outback Bowl against Georgia might change tomorrow as well.
bowl game, lol
Guys, we can win 2 or 3 still and go to a decent bowl game.
Beat Ohio and all is forgiven.
Ticket But I Could Also Wake Up Tomorrow With A Winning Lotto Ticket And Natalie Portman In Bed. Doesn't Mean It's Likely
look there goes one !!!
Are you high?
Hell.....Us vs Florida would be full of Derp, I think I would want that to happen just for the genuine comedy of it all.
Other than this loss possibly dropping Michigan below Nebraska in the bowl selection order, I still think that if Michigan gets at least one more win, they will be picked over Minnesota and Iowa by the bowl selection committies. Perhaps this is the jaded Gopher fan perspective, but bowls are about money, and the Michigan name definitely brings the fans and interest. My guess is Michigan gets the bowl slotted for the #5 Big 10 team, whatever that is.
I don't really want to watch any more shit than I have to.
you won't be missed
We'll get a decent bowl even if we lose out. We carry too much potential money $. Now, it won't be a New Years Day game, but it will probably be one of those Dec 28 type games. We'll end up getting some scrappy overachieving non-BCS conference team or an SEC team that had unusual circumstances leading to a meh record. AND we'll get embarrased.
there are only two non-NYD B1G bowls and one is the worst one, the Pizza Bowl.
BDubs, Little Cesars, Gator.
Why would you decline a bowl invite. You get 15 extra practice days and another game of experience.
I can dream, can't I?
if we go 9-3 and beat Ohio, we'd get the Outback over 10 win Wisconsin.
you've severely overrated wins and loses and underrated brand power.
Ain't gonna happen buddy
OSU will slaughter us on our own feild. No doubt OSU will win by 30 points! Yes they will pour it on!
C pizza bowl. Pinstripe bowl. International bowl which isn't played anymore. Not a good bowl.
Honestly who gives a flyin fuck? The season is over regardless. If I was home I would pull Gardner and toussaint for the rest of the season. They have no nfl future and whether they go 8-4 which is a dream or 6-6 it won't change anything. Play green and Morris and build on the future
We will have Gardner next year. This is just dumb. If you want to play Green more than fine.
Do u really want Gardner playing next season?? Do you see any chance he improves that much he has no field awareness what so ever u can blame the play calling all u want the guy stinks as a qb!
Put AJ McCarron behind that OL and he will look shitty too.
Your argument is invalid.
Even when he has protection, he is not very good.
Ol is shit don't get me wrong but he is a lousy qb it was obvious against penn at it was obvious against uconn he had all the time in the world to throw the ball and couldn't do shit. He is not a quick decision maker and I would take my chance with Morris it can't be any worse than this. U can't blame all the sacks on the oline he's takin waaaaaay to much time to throw the ball
It's either take the sack or huck the ball up in the air ala ND game. Which do you think is more likely to cost Michigan points?
You want more problems? Create a QB controversy, put a 17/18 year old Freshman behind a tattered OL to get murdered for 4 quarters. Not like we have paper thin QB depth or anything.
Let him grow. Next year is gonna be the deepest Michigan has been in scholarship-QB depth in quite some time.
- Gardner - 5th Year
- Bellomy- RS Junior
- Morris- Sophomore
- Speight*- Fr.
*assuming Speight stays committed, signs, makes the team etc. etc.
are you 13?
The worst thing that happened was Gardner gettn a redshirt IMO
and you are sure that Morris is the real deal?
No but I'm pretty sure Gardner runs seventeen yards back words and dodges tackles until he's sacked instead of throwing the ball away. It normally happens after a first down or when there's any sort of momentum.
I think the coaches are telling him to do that so he doesn't throw 7 interception per game.
I'm drunk and foolish so let me just say I think we win one of the last three. I'd be surprised if we lost all three but I'd be more surprised if we won two of three. Losing that Penn State game still kills me.
Bluebonnet Bowl....the country can't wait to see it.
How about the Fire Al Borges Bowl?
Send the band to a bowl and keep the team here. Brandon gets the bucks, can mess with the uniforms and won't be criticized for not paying to send the band to a bowl.
Kraft fight hunger here we come
For the love of God man, we just lost to a shit poor Nebraska team and we are thinking post season. This team will not win another game. Did you see the shit poor team on the field today? We couldn't beat a Eastern. Eastern Idaho that is
The .500 bowl
We won't get a new years day bowl - when is the last time that happened?
When we went 3-9 half a decade ago?
- The Gator could still rise up and take Michigan. They took 6-6, misreable ohio in 2011
- Uh, 2005 Alamo, 1995 Alamo, 1994 Holiday, 1984 Holiday and 1981 Bluebonnet
everything about playing in a bowl game is pointless as things currently stand. At the rate this offense is regressing, they will have negative total yards by the end of the bowl game and be penalized for un-football like play in a bowl game.
I don't think the extra practices under Funk and Borges would do any good, they might actually do harm. Definition of Insanity!?!?
After losing two close road games and then getting blown out by OSU at home. Hoke will blame the 6-6 record on execution! Oh yeah we probably will lose the pizza bowl to some MAC team!
we need bowl practice badly, good thing we got six, Pizza Pizza versus Northern Illinois would be the best bowl game for Detroit ever
Who gives a shit?
We get stung, or we are playing in the Masters!!!
So what Bowl game would we go to if we finish 6-6, which at this point seems the most probable?
Bowl practice to get the young players more reps. Beyond that I don't care, I know I won't be watching it.
If this team doesn't win the next 3 games and still plays on New Year's Day, it should be a wake up to anyone who doesn't recognize how terrible the bowl system is.
On a positive note, a non- NYD game would keep attention on Jan. 1 on the Wings-Leafs at Michigan Stadium.
The ultimate match-up would be against Texas in the BWW Bowl. Then we all can throw-up after GERG pitches a shutout against our pathetic offense.
