Bowl Game outlook

Submitted by DISCUSS Man on

What bowl do you think Michigan ends up in now?

Rose and Capital One are out of the question now. As well a BCS At-Large.

There are 8 bowl games to fill, the B1G only has 7 bowl eligible teams. illinois, indiana & northwestern are at 3-6, 4-5 & 4-5 respectively. So unless they pull magic out of their ass, it looks like no B1G team will be headed to Detroit.

Well, as late as a few days ago, Jerry Palm had us as the BIg Ten 4/5 pick playing Ole Miss in the Gator Bowl. I would imagine that there is a possibilty that ESPN's projection of Michigan in the Outback Bowl against Georgia might change tomorrow as well.

Other than this loss possibly dropping Michigan below Nebraska in the bowl selection order, I still think that if Michigan gets at least one more win, they will be picked over Minnesota and Iowa by the bowl selection committies. Perhaps this is the jaded Gopher fan perspective, but bowls are about money, and the Michigan name definitely brings the fans and interest. My guess is Michigan gets the bowl slotted for the #5 Big 10 team, whatever that is.

We'll get a decent bowl even if we lose out.  We carry too much potential money $.  Now, it won't be a New Years Day game, but it will probably be one of those Dec 28 type games.  We'll end up getting some scrappy overachieving non-BCS conference team or an SEC team that had unusual circumstances leading to a meh record.  AND we'll get embarrased.

Obviously, this depends on the record and how many Big Ten teams gets BCS bowl bids.  For now, I’ll guess that only Ohio State goes to a BCS bowl from the Big Ten.  In order, the Big Ten bowl selections after the Rose Bowl are the Capital One Bowl, the Outback Bowl, the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, the Gator Bowl, the Texas Bowl, the Heart of Dallas Bowl and Little Caesar’s Pizza Bowl.

I’d guess Ohio State to the Rose, Wisconsin to the Capital One and Michigan State to the Outback.  I’m  also guessing that Michigan finishes at 6-6 on a five-game losing streak, and goes to either the Heart of Dallas Bowl against a Conference USA team on January 1, or the Little Caesar’s Pizza Bowl against a MAC team on December 26.

As for Michigan’s other bowl possibilities (keeping in mind that some may consider the Akron and Connecticut wins as "losses"):

At 9-3 on a three-game winning streak with a major upset win over Ohio State, then the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl against the Big 12's fourth pick on December 28, or the Gator Bowl against the SEC’s sixth pick on January 1 might be possible.

At 8-4 after what's beginning to look like a blowout loss to Ohio State, the Gator Bowl or the Texas Bowl against the Big 12's sixth pick on December 27th might be possible.

At 7-5 with an upset win at Iowa, it could be the Gator Bowl or the Texas Bowl.  At 7-5 with a win over Northwestern, the Texas Bowl would get the Big Ten’s sixth pick, and they’d probably invite Michigan to Houston.

Honestly who gives a flyin fuck? The season is over regardless. If I was home I would pull Gardner and toussaint for the rest of the season. They have no nfl future and whether they go 8-4 which is a dream or 6-6 it won't change anything. Play green and Morris and build on the future

Do u really want Gardner playing next season?? Do you see any chance he improves that much he has no field awareness what so ever u can blame the play calling all u want the guy stinks as a qb!

Ol is shit don't get me wrong but he is a lousy qb it was obvious against penn at it was obvious against uconn he had all the time in the world to throw the ball and couldn't do shit. He is not a quick decision maker and I would take my chance with Morris it can't be any worse than this. U can't blame all the sacks on the oline he's takin waaaaaay to much time to throw the ball

It's either take the sack or huck the ball up in the air ala ND game. Which do you think is more likely to cost Michigan points?

You want more problems? Create a QB controversy, put a 17/18 year old Freshman behind a tattered OL to get murdered for 4 quarters. Not like we have paper thin QB depth or anything.

Let him grow. Next year is gonna be the deepest Michigan has been in scholarship-QB depth in quite some time.

  1. Gardner - 5th Year
  2. Bellomy- RS Junior
  3. Morris- Sophomore
  4. Speight*- Fr.

*assuming Speight stays committed, signs, makes the team etc. etc.

No but I'm pretty sure Gardner runs seventeen yards back words and dodges tackles until he's sacked instead of throwing the ball away. It normally happens after a first down or when there's any sort of momentum.

I'm drunk and foolish so let me just say I think we win one of the last three. I'd be surprised if we lost all three but I'd be more surprised if we won two of three. Losing that Penn State game still kills me.

Send the band to a bowl and keep the team here. Brandon gets the bucks, can mess with the uniforms and won't be criticized for not paying to send the band to a bowl.

For the love of God man, we just lost to a shit poor Nebraska team and we are thinking post season. This team will not win another game. Did you see the shit poor team on the field today? We couldn't beat a Eastern. Eastern Idaho that is

everything about playing in a bowl game is pointless as things currently stand.  At the rate this offense is regressing, they will have negative total yards by the end of the bowl game and be penalized for un-football like play in a bowl game.

I don't think the extra practices under Funk and Borges would do any good, they might actually do harm.  Definition of Insanity!?!?

After losing two close road games and then getting blown out by OSU at home. Hoke will blame the 6-6 record on execution!  Oh yeah we probably will lose the pizza bowl to some MAC team!
