Boston.com Article on Maurice Hurst Jr.

Submitted by Silly Goose on

Like the title says, Boston.com posted a great spotlight on Maurice Hurst Jr. It touches on family, football, and his expectations for the future. I know we say this a lot here, but it looks like we are getting a great one.

Enjoy.

He thought LSU or Alabama were better choices.  These two schools have developed a reputation for developing defensive linemen.  Can UM join the group with the HC and the DC both being DL coaches?

The question for Michigan is finding highly talented linemen and getting them to come here.  The talent pool in this part of the country is not nearly as much as down south in SEC country.   But, there are probably enough very good ones to build a great line -combined with great coaching.  And as our success rate grows (developing NFL linemen), it will become easier to attract more talented guys.

This Hurst kid sounds like a great athlete for his size.  And a great kid too.  A perfect fit with Michigan.

Just can't understand how "men" can just ignore and totally disregard their seed. Don't know the situation or circumstance but its no excuses to not support your kid.

he's going to be a stud. can't wait to get him in the maize and blue and under hoke's, mattison's, and montgomery's watchful eyes. i've got a lot of confidence in our d-line going forward.

Sounds like UM is getting a great player and an excellent human being in this kid, wish him nothing but the best.  And can't wait to see that first step they talk about, especially after seeing his highlights, where he's consistently 2yards behind the O-line immediately after the ball is snapped.

Thanks for sharing. I noticed it talked about his numbers a bunch. He wants to wear 73 when he gets to Ann Arbor, which should be open with Campbell's graduation, but if he does wear 11 now... That Legend jersey might fit him well.

"‘I wasn’t really too interested in going to mainly a football school. They’re great for people who just want to go into the NFL but I wanted a mix of both. That’s why it came down to Michigan and Virginia.’’

It is great to see that Hurst seems to be thinking about goals for both football and beyond, so it is very nice to hear that recruits choose your school for both the sport and what it can offer academically. He seems to be a great kid, and a fine and talented addition to the team as well as the student body.
