Booing the team

Submitted by KingsWolverine on

Im glad Brian covered this a little bit.  I couldnt believe fans were booing the team during the game and at halftime.  The defense played their aces off, kept us in the game the whole time, yet they have to hear the boos too.  Sure fans probably werent booing the defense, but they are a TEAM and and im sure the defense just loved hearing it.  We are going to have some growing pains, weve just got to be patient and let this team come together, slowly but surely it WILL happen.  GO BLUE!!

Honestly what is the point of booing them?  It's not like the kids weren't trying.  All people were doing was demoralizing the players, who I'm sure were already pissed at themselves as it was.

Honestly, whats the point in criticizing President Bush?  Its not like he's not trying.  All you're doing is making him feel bad for fucking up the country.  He probably already pissed about all that Iraq/Afghanistan stuff before our stock markets crashed.  I'm sure that W does things that you, in your greatest moments, could never hope to do.

You see how I can apply your argument to basically any politician, company, or individual person's performance?  I mean, President Bush is the captain of Team America, and yet people still express displeasure by booing him whenever he makes public appearances.  Somehow, I feel as though many people are okay with this.

Seriously, give this a rest.  Enjoy an awesome victory, and if you were in the stadium, an awesome experience (Better than PSU 05!) and stop bitching for a couple of days.  I mean, we won against a ranked opponent and all people can post about is 15 seconds worth of booing going into halftime.

..because college kids playing football are the same as an elected official. Let's see... college kid, running the plays that their coach tells them to, giving it their best effort, PLAYING FOOTBALL. Or - Elected official making choices that affect the country as a whole, actually deciding human beings fates with his decisions. That's an intelligent correlation. So, I guess Shafer and Magee are congress and the senate?

Your sarcasm meter must be off.  I think its fair to criticize, I really don't think its fair to boo the team, but I can understand why people did so.  If you can honestly tell me that you have never booed a Michigan athlete, whether it was Threet lobbing ducks, Stevie Brown's (possibly) blown coverages, Jason Gingell's horrific FG attempts, Garret Rivas through his rough patch, etc. then fine, whatever, you're a bigger man than people who booed, +1 internet points for you.

I just choose to believe that my 15 seconds of non booing doesn't make me a better person or fan.

In my analogy, Shafer would probably be Secretary of Defense (Obvi) and Magee would be Sec State.  I don't have a good fit for Barwis though, maybe DHS?

..your post(in a sarcastic tone). I see what you were saying. You should have used the sarcasm font.

Now, re-read my post. I never once said I was better than anyone.I just think it's very counter productive to the team if you boo.

And, yes, I can say I've never booed a Michigan athelete. After the time-out, Jamar Adams' inability to tackle ANYONE, App State, Oregon, That A Train fumble, no one being able to tackle Maroney,etc,etc,etc.. I've never once booed, and I never will.

Yeah, I get what you're saying, its not you, its more of the general posts early on where people are shocked, SHOCKED! that booing will occur at Michigan Stadium as if it had never happened before/by talking about it here it will never happen again.

I agree that it's not classy, and I've never done it.  But let's not beat a dead horse.  There are lots of fans that do this.  OSU fans booed a few times against Troy (the week after the USC demolition).  ND fans booed their team all the time last year.  MSU fans often do it.  It's one of those things that goes on when teams are struggling, whether we like it or not.

You're right.  If MSU and OSU do something, then we by all means should be doing it too.  What's that Sparty?  You're jumping off a cliff?  Well, here I come!

If only the ancients would get loud when the opposing team has an important 3rd down as they do when we struggle we wouldnt be known as the "Quiet House"  Remember there is a plethora of 18 and 19 year old out there.

I remember a couple years ago, the Michigan fans booed our own team.  After the game when it got brought up, Mike Hart said he didn't care about the fans.  Later he amended his statement to say he didn't care about the fans that booed.

So just remember that.  If you boo, Mike Hart doesn't care about you.

This dead horse has been beaten so hard it is now a puddle of goo.  It's barely more recognizable than the "McGuffie lacks top end speed" horse.

Fans shouldn't have booed.  But, it was a 21-yard, 5-turnover half.  A total aberration.  It made Michigan's offense against tUoOS last year look like mid-90s Florida.  If booing was ever going to happen, that was the time.  We won't see a half like that again for a long time.  Problem solved. (I hope)

Please, I've never booed once. When something fucked up happens, I just drink a hell of a lot more. Makes more sense to punish myself with a borderline-lethal concoction for caring so much about college kids in pads than it does to act like they owe me something.

I'm not kidding either. After Oregon last year I mixed some Goldschlager, Jose Cuervo, Skyy, Godiva Liqueur, Orange Juice, Milk, Coke, and a bit of Coor's Original, shoke it up a bit, put it in the fridge for 10 minutes, scraped off the curdled part at the top, and downed it. Helps you keep perspective.
