Boise State fans are bitter regarding Goudis

It's a nice mix of "He's a kicker, who cares?", some comments noting that Michigan is a better school and a bigger stage, and then some of my favorites:

He commited to Michigan during a visit in the dead of winter?

Maybe we didn’t want him after all.

My favorite, by far and away, by someone who very clearly had a Michigan fan romance his significant other:

This is how Big Ten fans feel about Michigan. Not a single school out here – Big Ten or not – likes Michigan. Arrogant jackwagons, they are. Their dealings are shady, at best. If you MUST root for a Big Ten team – which is darn near impossible to do given Ohio $tate’s president statements and their whole tattoo autograph thing – then root for Michigan State. Closest thing to a “classy” program in the Big Ten – though out here, the clean programs are the ones that suck.

And finally, by the same, shall we say, special poster:

Can't say I'm surprised...

I’ve got no proof, but it’s not exactly a big secret here in Big Ten country that Michigan and Ohio State play dirty in football and basketball recruiting. It helps when you have rich alumni who can cover their tracks well enough to not get caught. coughMichigancough They aren’t all as clean as Petersen and staff.

Wow.

Woah, if you didn't have a reason before to cheer against Boise State, here you go.

Awesome!!  Thanks for posting.  Makes me proud to have been a part of that at one time.  Not the MMB, but the crowd.  I was there during the resurgence in '90-'91 when Berenson finally got his mojo going as the coach.  I frequented MSU hockey games as a youngster and remember the crowds being incredible.  When I got to Michigan in '89, hockey and the crowds in particular were relatively lackluster.

I know the Cornell series is what is credited with the beginning of Michigan's resurgence, but the turnaround in my mind was against Sparty earlier that same year.  The previous matchup against Sparty in Yost was  equal parts Green and Blue.  It was an embarrassment as MSU fans who couldn't get into Munn Ice Arena flooded Yost and essentially took over our home ice arena (Much like the 2009 OSU football game from what I understand) resulting in a tough loss to the  (at the time) dominant Spartans.

Adds were run throughout town, in the Daily, on posters hung around campus to "Shutout Sparty;"  to buy tickets to the Michigan/Michigan State Game.  And we did.  It became a Michigan campus-wide mission to fill the arena with maize and blue and amp up the crowd for that game.  There might have been a total of three Sparties in that crowd.  Michigan won that game fairly handily.  The arena and the crowd absolutely ROCKED for that game!!

From that moment on, Yost has been the best venue for hockey and the crowds continue to get better.  The next year was the first year they offered student season tickets and general admission to hockey games went the way of the dinosaurs.

That game was probably my second favorite Michigan Hockey game experience after The Big Chill.

Don't worry guys... I set them straight. I probably pissed them off pretty good. Especially the morons who kept accusing of Michigan using dirty recruiting tactics... I can't believe some of these kids think that it is absolute lunacy to choose a program like Michigan over Boise State... " Mid-level Big Ten program over an Elite program like Boise" People with that logic, make me just shake my head in shock and disbelief. What are they mixing with their kool-aid?

He only sounds like a Michigan message board guy after every one of Rodriguez's decommits over the last three years.

Remember when Fera decommitted and RR got Gibbons? AWW HELLZ YEAH! Everyone thought Fera was "just a kicker...NEXT" and "We'll be fine with Gibbons!" HAHAHAHAHLOLZ

Pot has just met Kettle once more.

After the last 3 years, no way. I even laugh at the snake oil comments now.

And, as we know, 17 year olds never change their minds.

Question: if you have had to point to one program in the B1G (besides Michigan), who would you pick?

Northwestern comes to mind, but if you mean a relevant team that could win the conference, I might go for Iowa with a slight margin over Wisconsin.  Both from my recollection are "clean" programs and Iowa getting the nudge b/c Bielema is a dick.

be a pretty good choice. When kids choose PSU over Michigan, especially top recruits, I can't ever remember shaking my head and saying WTF.

Between Iowa/Wisky -- it seems like a pretty tough choice. Madison is a cool town, but Iowa City is not too bad either. Game day stadium experience, I would take Wisconsin. Ferentz seems preferable to me over Bielema too, but having never met or spent time with either, who knows. If I were a top tight end recruit recruit, I certainly would look hard at Iowa and Wisconsin perhaps over any other program in the conference. They produce some good pro OL prospects too.

People tend to forget that NU has had some real scandals in the past 15 years.  Two big ones were the point shaving scandal (this also happened in bball) w Dennis Lundy and the death of Rashidi Wheeler at one of their practices (in 2001; later settled for $16 million).

They definitely seem to do things the "right way" (i.e., their student-athletes definitely seem to be real students, as they have a ~95% grad rate), but these were not minor incidents and definitely are blots on their program.

I'd take Wisky over Iowa even with Bielema weighing them down. I'd enjoy Madison better than Iowa City, and it's also an easier place to get to.

But we can't forget the newcomers, Nebraska. Sure they might be in the middle of nowhere but the entire state relies on the university for its sports, which are pretty good, and, in my opinion, it's a comparable school to both Wisconsin and Iowa

Michigan State. Closest thing to a classy program....

Of all the schools in the big ten, they pick that one...

Edit: I see three other people have the same idea as me. Beaten to the punch....

At first I thought he was crack addict, but after reading the comment about Michigan State being the cleanest program in the Big Ten I'm certain the guy is a meth and heroin addict. I feel bad for him, drugs kill.

Boise State has fans?

/s

Found a good one

I’m sure that kid got paid someway, somehow…BSU doesn’t have the Alumni base for that sort of thing. Let him go, we don’t need guys like that anyway. We need guys that have a desire to learn football and progress their “profession”. That’s what college is for, building for the future, not getting kickbacks right now.

Bitterness has never sounded so funny.  I guess lonely winters in Idaho can really mess with a person.

I would think that if you had to pick one program to root for in the Big Ten, it'd be N'W. Nothing controversial there at all, and Pat Fitzgerald is a great guy. Fans are never accused of arrogance and they seem to be pretty classy over there.

MSU would be the last school probably chosen. And how can they be seen as clean with their recent crime troubles as well as their head coach being tutored by Nick $aban and Jim Tre$$el. Spick and span for sure.

You've got to be kidding about fan arrogance with Northwestern.  Fitzgerald is a good guy, but their fans aren't arrogant about sports, they're arrogant over academics.  All of those stupid MSU and OSU jokes people have around here get applied to Michigan when told by a NW graduate.

Well if our fans are gonna dish it out, we've gotta take it too. I don't really care about the academic jokes either way. It's all moot when it comes to playing a game on the field. I guess the attitude of academic superiority can make N'W fans irritable (as I'm sure people are fed up with the M fans that use it), but I'm not bothered by it. And it's not like there's as many N'W fans as there are M or OSU, so even if they are annoying, you're not going to run into them everywhere or have N'W propaganda in your face all the time, so they don't get a bad name as a fanbase.

My favorite by far. Two BCS showings in school history and a bunch of good one off games, and all of a sudden they're god's gift to football, while college football's winningest program is a mid-level Big Ten program. Just wow.

I’m just shocked that the kid would decommit from a top program like Boise State for what is AT BEST a mid-level Big Ten program.
