The last bobblethon reminder thread was posted at past 8pm last night, but that is not really the point. Why all the fuss because a few of us are trying to win some money for students?

Also, if you are going to have a once every 8-20 hour rule, please also apply it across the board to everything else. For example, NCAA 11 update threads.

I do my best to skip past the threads that do not interest me since, apparently, they interest some of you. Maybe those who are not interested in the bobblethon could quietly skip by these reminders.

about previous days where there was a morning and night post. i've voted daily and have no problem with it being put up but you pointed out the exact issue: if there can be twice-daily reminders for this, why aren't there 80 divergent topics of one single issue? the game posts will die in roughly a week when the game is out. until then, different elements of the game are discussed and are relevant, especially in an OT season.

[I]t was more a note about previous days where there was a morning and night post.

So, what?

I am the person who started the two-a-day reminders. Guilty. I did it because we were getting killed by PSU one evening after being ahead all morning and into the early afternoon. Some people visit MGoBlog in the morning. Others do it at night after they come home from work and, by that time, the reminder that was put up at 7am has been pushed to page three. The point of a reminder is, well, to remind people, so it should not be a surprise to anyone to discover that a reminder that has been pushed to page three is not nearly as effective as a reminder on page one.

Every day since we have been doing the twice-a-day reminders (and, btw, it has been less than a week), UofM has led PSU the entire day. That tells me two things. First, MGoBlog works. When the people on this board work together, they can actually accomplish something. Second, twice-a-day reminders are materially more effective than once-a-day reminders and might end up making the difference between winning the $10,000 and not winning the $10,000. The contest ends on July 31. Is it really that much of an imposition for the uninterested to suffer through a second bobblethon reminder for the next three weeks?

And if you do not believe there are already multiple threads about any number of other topics every day (e.g., NCAA 11, World Cup, Recruiting, Lebron) then you and I must be visiting different boards in alternative parallel universes. The thing that amazes me is that literally 50-75% of the topics on this board every day are OT and no one says a word; they just silently go by them as if it is no big deal. Yet, God forbid, as soon as there is a second bobblethon reminder in an effort to win some scholarship money for the University, all hell breaks loose

Fine. Congratulations, you win. I have been finally transformed into an official MGoBlog member. I am an egocentric, egotistical, self-centered prick who stands ready to criticize and ridicule anything and anyone simply because they present an easy target or, better yet, purely for my amusement. I will post no more reminders. I will spend no more time bobbling for scholarship money (after all, there is nothing in it for me because I have already graduated). F%ck the bobblethon. F%ck the students. And, of course, GO BLUE!!!

I decided to finally start an account today simply to thank you for giving these reminders.  I tend to forget to do these things, and your posts really help me to remember!  Thanks again, and keep it up!

How are OSU and MSU not #1 and #2?  Don't they have the biggest student populations in the Big 10?  Seriously, I lived in mid-Michigan, and they had high speed internet back in 2002.

I'm not complaining, just surprised.
