That part was a private meeting between Hackett and the Regents. Biggest thing I heard (MLive article) was that he wasn't married to the idea of announcing a decision ON July 1, just as close as possible

You're not gonna hear much about it. Hacket runs a tight ship. But Angelique Chengelis responded to a question on Twitter earlier today where she answered with something like "I don't 'officially' know it's going to be Nike" or something along those lines, which implies she's heard (or at least believes) it will be Nike, but its not official yet.

I don't know why people care so much about who sponsors Michigan. I don't think it matters who sponsors us, the sponsor isn't going to deter people from attending the sporting events. The only thing that matters is how the student-athletes feel about the gear they receive to compete and train in.

Adidas is crap? Adidas has far superior performance gear than Nike. Sticking with Adidas makes sense. The brand with the three stripes and the team with the winged helmets.. Now Adidas has had some terrible designs but to say nike is better is preposterous. If you ever own nike shoes you'd know they come apart like nothing. UA is one big gimmick and I want nothing in common with our rivals. Nike=OSU and Sparty. UA= Notre Dame. God save Adidas.

So because MSU and OSU have nike we must also to compete at their level? No. Harbaugh is doing a fine job of recruiting w/o nike. Go ahead sign with nike. They'll have us over a barrel and start bidding wars between is and OSU and MSU. That's what Nike wants. The grass is always greener

how many polls have to prove that players (recruits) prefer Nike and that it's not even close? Recruits/players prefer Nike across America wrt football gear & apparel. It's not "going with our rivals" as we had them before. It's just going back to a company that makes (horribly wrt how they ALL make them) better American football everything. As far as jerseyz, it's up to the school! I don't see how people don't understand this. If you prefer Adidas, cool. No offense. Yet, to wonder why everyone wants Nike is blindingly clear. Oddly, im hearing that UA is more likely but that's nothing I can back up outside of "sources" so grain of salt. I'd still take them over Adidas.

Actually I disagree with you. I have had basketball shoes of all three brands and Adidas is the worst. Under armor is nice and Nike is ok. I have also had performance shirts of all kind, Nike is the best then UA then Adidas. Shorts: Nike, UA, Adidas. Socks: Nike, Adidas, under armor. Have you worn workout gear or just t shirts?

Yeah, adidas basketball and football gear is not as good as Nike whereas their soccer is top of the line. I'm mostly comparing cleats and shoes though. Nike shoes, if they fall apart, can be sent back and replaced with a voucher which to me proves how Nike stands behind their products. Not sure if other companies do the same, but I had a pair of shoes have the strap break and it didn't matter that they were over a year old Nike replaced them and gave me a voucher for the original price, no questions asked.

Just to be clear, you are saying most, if not all, Adidas gear is of poor design, poor quality materials, and poor workmanship, while, most, if not all, Nike & UA gear is of good quality, good materials, and good workmanship; how stupid could our Athletic Department have been!!!

I will give you that most players may favor the Nike Brand (yeah, I said the "B" word), but that is due in part to good marketing & the MJ halo effect.

I have a couple Nike shirts that I still wear that are in good condition condition. However, my student shirt from 2 years ago is fading away and looks like crap. Have you seen the Nike college dri fit shirts? They are awesome I have like 10 college t shirts. I just want a simple performance t.

That's bullshit.

This stuff matters. To the fans, to the players who obviously have opinions on this and the coaches, believe it or not, do as well.

The players and coaches in the "revenue sports" all want Nike, I learned today.

If nobody cared, these apparel threads wouldn't usually get over 100 comments in them.

You care. YOU ALL CARE!

Anyone who's ever built a sucessful business or led a major organization knows this: DETAILS MATTER. There's a valid argument that the apparel/equipment provider we sign a contract with for the next decade is more than some minor, insignificant detail.

Those Michigan baseball tops from Angelique's post were so tight. The kitties titties, basically.

Most of y'all are grown ass men.. What the hell are you doing buying official team gear anyway? Wear a polo or button up to the game.. And when it's cold a jacket. You can wear the COLORZ w/o buying "team gear".

Button up polo?!

You must be from SEC country.

Also, you'll be wearing that maybe for the month of September up here and that's it. Good luck wearing that to 3:30 games in October and beyond.

C'mon man. I wasn't talking to you. You're fresh outta high school. Wearing team gear is acceptable still. Once you hit your mid-20s there's a time to put the team gear away.. You don't have to be south of mason-Dixon to dress decently for a football game. Take a look back at what UM fans were wearing in the stadium pre-1960s.. All suits and ties. And as for the 3:30 games if you read my above post I said wear a jacket when it's cold. Team gear is such a Buckeye thing and it makes us look like then when we obsess about it.

My thing is that unless you want to buy the gear for the people to wear, they can wear whatever they want.

What do you mean by team gear? That can literally mean anything from sideline t-shirts to hats to polos. Do you mean jerseys?

That last post made me sound like an old crony. What I'm getting at is when you walk into Ohio Stadium it's literally and bloody catwalk of truckers wearing everything from pajama pants and team beanies to insurance salesmen who dress like Kerry Coombs. We're Michigan. We hold ourselves to a higher standard. That doesn't mean dress like an SEC toolbag with Croakies and Chubbies.. It just means dress like a Michigan Man. IMHO running around in team gear head to toe and that means anything emblazoned, cheapens us. Trust me I have a few team gear knick knacks I wear around the house, but I'm not a walking billboard for UM.

You know he will.  By asking him not to, will result in your asking him to also be posted.   Trolls gonna troll.

But don't worry, bucknuts struggle with words that have more than 4 letters.  Another reason why they can only spell o-h-i-o and never spell the state word - funny thing spartans also struggle with the staee word.
