Blue Endzones at The Big House?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Was just thinking about this today watching a replay of the 2008 Capital One Bowl. The look of the blue Michigan endzone was outstanding. What would you think if Michigan decided to do blue endzone backgrounds with "MICHIGAN" in the same Maize lettering as there is now instead of the current, plain look?

I think it would look pretty sharp. I'm pretty sure it would be the first Navy Blue endzones in the FBS? (EDIT: justingoblue proved me to be horribly wrong)

No, your all wrong, see if we do go with a new endzone design we need to do it throwback style so that we still honor our "tradition" so basically we are going to not take a single aspect of the "tradition" into account save for I guess blue, throw a shit ton of vertical stripes onto it, paint a mascot in one corner, hastag on the other, change our name to Michigon and call it a contemporary take on 100+ years of football. #progressivethinking

Would look especially sharp during Maize-Out games. I'd be concerned with how it would balance with the maize block M at midfield, which bowl games don't have obviously. The current endzone wordmark is in the same maize-with-blue-outline style as the midfield M. Mockup?

Toledo and Arizona have both painted their endzones navy blue before.

Edit: Add at least Syracuse and Ole Miss to the list.

...that I've always loved the Rose Bowl endzones.  I'm not sure if replicating that at Michigan stadium would dilute the allure for me or not.  But in the big picture of things if they decided to paint the endzones blue (or even maize for that matter) I don't think I would object at all.

Nah man. Break out the maize field turf. Then wear maize on maize jerseys for the night game against nd next year... We can't be losing out on this "Boise advantage"

Well fans, Roger Dorn has done a little redecorating around the ballpark. The outfield walls now look like the yellow pages. And any of you folks having trouble finding a good proctologist, might want to come down here and check out the area around the 375 foot sign. As for the game, we've got a real nailbiter here tonight. It's a lot closer than that 11-2 score.
