My sister and her boyfriend live in Bloomington and are going to the game. Her boyfriend just broke his leg and is in surgery, meaning his ticket has been freed up.  If I can find someone to look after my daughter this weekend, I'm going to drive up from Atlanta in the morning.

I doubt that I can pull this off though.

My instincts tell me the same thing. My parenting can't possibly be too many notches above "complete lack of supervision and neglect" so she should be fine. At two years old, she knows there's food in the freezer and that she can get water from the bathtub and its only for one night.

It was ice that broke his leg, but I was wishing him nothing but ill will at the time so I may take (non-financial) responsibility.

I am confused. This is mgoblog. I always assume everyone is male unless proven otherwise (with pics, and even then 50% chance of being Ronaiah). I made no assumptions on Dix's marital status either. Dix needs someone to take care of his/her daughter and luckily there is one trustworthy(?) adult in Bloomington with nothing going on!

Haha, yeah, file this one under reading comprehension fail. I read "just drive up your daughter and have the boyfriend look after her" as "just drive up your daughter and have your boyfriend look after her during the game."

It's 5:00 on Friday. Cut me some slack.

Couldn't afford tickets to the game, but since I'm in Indy I'm going to make the short drive down to watch at Nick's (popular college hangout down there).

I might come down to Nick's then.I go to IU and I live right next to the Law School basically off of 3rd. Which is right by Nicks and Kilroys. I want to watch with some Michigan fans, so I might come to Nicks.

Understandable. If you're staying for the entire game and afterwards, then let me know how that goes. I'm not worried about during game time. I'm worried about if/when Michigan wins against them and a bunch of drunk dudes are upset. Completely different than just wearing it on a random day, most people literally could care less then.

Traded my student general admission ticket for a UNC ticket when I still went there and definitely regretted it but got a call from a friend who came through for me and found a ticket that wasnt $600. I consider that a win

A friend and I got lower bowl tickets on craigslist for $300/each a couple weeks ago. Anyone know which bloomington (college) bars will be the most fun after the game?

"Kilroys" is full of bros and hoes.. I'd go to "Nicks" for some quality fun and to pull some wool. "The Upstairs" is also decent.

I'm a Ball State student and saw my Cardinals beat the Hoosiers on a last second field goal in Bloomington. Let's just say for a basketball school, they sure were salty when they lost to a MAC school. Did them dirty at Lucas oil in 2011 as well.
Bloomington is more than a good time and Upland Wheat is the local beer of choice. Helluva a beverage.
However, they are OSU-like nuts about their Hoosiers so be cool in the maize & blue.. Only throw hands if you know you can win!

quite a walk from Assembly Hall plenty of choices  -  but if IU wins the party will be in the street  (literally) for a few hours.  Nick's is the local bar of choice for most students ...

Uh - there is no lower bowl.  there are 2 sides that go from court level to roughly blimp level.  I have sat in row 25 and you can hardly tell a 6 foot player from a 7 foot player.   Horiible place to see a game ... but one of the rowdiest places to go to.  The championship banners start swinging back and forth just from noise ... Be sure you're decked out with all your gear & you will get harassed - though nothing like you would other places (Mordor, OH).

I've never been harrassed either, except when I was going back to a dorm. But, that was just some drunk idiot who didn't even go to the game. But, I wouldn't go to Kilroy's after the game. Potential for a fight there, because they probably will harass. Kirkwood will turn into a crazy area for a while if they win, I'm sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YMjn9DZ7tI

An example of how it is after a huge game win. If it's a loss for them, expect a much more hostile and harassing crowd on Kirkwood. Sore losers the Hoosiers are.

was 4 years ago when we lost by 5 or 6.  My niece was able to get ahold of a couple of tickets for her dad ( a staee grad---ugh!) and I for that one.  He was wearing green, me Maize and Blue, but we didn't get anything worse than a few unapproving looks from the IU faithful, although a few mouthed off a bit after IU pulled off the win. Pretty close game all the way and we lead as late as inside the 4 minute mark, also were tied inside of 2 minutes, but couldn't quite get it done.

Being that my niece was only a sophomore at the time, we didn't make it to any local pubs while in town, settling for a meal at a niece family-type eatery instead.

I vaguely remember a much more "drunken" trip to Bloomington some 20+ years ago, when I went with a bunch of buddies down there for a Michigan football game---to the best of my hazy recollection, it probably was in '92.  Hit the bars the night before and the night after and had a pretty good time with absolutely no hassles, as IU football just doesn't ignite even a smidgen of passion among the locals there.  Somehow we even wandered into Assembly Hall the morning of the football game and took a quick look from the balcony high above the court.  And I mean it when i say HIGH...

I live here in Bloomington but alas, my foolish decision to start nursing school has left me with neither spare dollars nor time for attendance.  Yet I somehow find time for this blog.  Go figure.

My wife's family has season tickets. I called dibs on this game months ago, and now lo and behold its 1 v 3. Can't wait! Section D, row 34!!!! [I was there for the UNC game, I can't wait for tomorrow night!]

Also, funny story. The "family" tickets are really for a cousin who bleeds cream and crimson..... and he has a good friend who's a big Michigan fan. They usually go to the game, but unfortunately I got dibs this year.... and the friend is pretty mad at me. He threatened to burn my house down...... So I might need a place to stay for the next few months until I can get a new house!

I think I'll be in Bloomington tomorrow because it's where my house is and I don't have any plans. I would have bought tickets but they were pretty expensive and so our diapers...
