Bleacher Report: Sources: Jim Harbaugh Expected to Take Michigan Job
More of IT"S HAPPENING. The sources for this are from the NFL side though, including two members of the 49ers staff.
Two members of the San Francisco 49ers staff and a third NFL source said Saturday they expect 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh to accept a six-year, $48 million contract to become the head coach of the University of Michigan.
"That's what everybody on staff believes is going to happen this week," one of the sources said. "Jim has figured out that his style is best-suited for the college game. His shtick works better with young guys who are gone after three or four years."
Also contains some interesting information about possible assistants.
In addition, he is expected to bring several coaches from the 49ers with him, including longtime assistants Reggie Davis and John Morton, according to sources.

CBSSports has picked up this article. They would be the first of the major sports websites to report this for what that is worth.

Bleacher Report is always crap and never to be trusted................
...........except in this instance.
December 27th, 2014 at 5:41 PM ^
The guy who wrote it was hard on the Harbaugh won't leave the NFL train before. It's also the first report I've seen where NFL guys are quoted as saying he's coming to Michigan.
December 27th, 2014 at 6:18 PM ^
the Morton-to-Michigan rumor is especially plausible give that's where he grew up (Auburn Hills) and went to college (WMU). Reggie Davis is a California guy, but has been with Harbaugh a long time.

reporting or those who give you information that gets filtered through people you don't really want to believe? As always, make your own judgment about the value of the information made public and never judge based on the alleged attribution. Everyone has sources. Some are better than others.
December 27th, 2014 at 5:49 PM ^
So staff rumors thus far:
HC - Jim
DC - Durkin
LB - Mattison
OL - Reggie Davis(possibly TE)
TE - Andy Moeller(possibly OL)
WR - John Morton
DB - ?
DL - ?
RB - Wheatley with some kind of shared OC duties.
Special teams - ?
Mattison has no problem coaching DL, so maybe he would be the DL guy and Manning would be retained as the LB coach?
December 27th, 2014 at 5:58 PM ^
I would guess that Morton would be the WR coach/Passing game coordinator.
December 27th, 2014 at 6:10 PM ^
I haven't heard any rumors on that. But, I like the idea of Mattison as DL coach and Manning as the LB guy. Both are excellent recruiters and would give the new staff some continuity with the players (at least on the defensive side). As much as we all love Fred Jackson, it's time for a change. And now is as good a time as any to bring home Ty Wheatley.
December 27th, 2014 at 6:37 PM ^
Can coach a lot like Fred Jackson.
Only faster.

John Morton will probably get promoted to OC if he's coming. He was OC during Pete Carroll's last year at USC, he did alright considering his QB was freshman Matt Barkley.

I thought that too but "staffers" could be any of 100 employees. Could be the water boy or it could be their anonymous league source. Or it is made up bullshit - I could go either way.
