Both are great hits, but Woodson was just such a physical presence out there.  Countess kind of dragged the receiver down; Woodson planted him.

was at the game and just re-watched it when i got home.  I think we can deem the countess hit a "plant".  Th only difference in my opinion was that Woodson hit the reciever when he was off his feet (in the air).  The hits were very similar and both very pleasing.

Both hits were nice, but Woodson really smashed that Baylor guy into the ground. Countess had solid contact to start the tackle, but then the ASU player just kinda falls down. Having said that, we're splitting hairs and we should probably just enjoy the hits.

I had the same thought as LongLiveBo actually - Blake's was a remarkably similar hit to Woodson in the Baylor game in 1997. It is still just one gme, of course, but I've just been enjoying the notion of being rather deep in the secondary and getting deeper with each class. As for Countess, he is hopefully setting up to have a rather nice year out there.

For you to remember that play = +1

The display = +1

The parallels for this season = +1*

*Michigan player wearing #2 making an awesome/aggresive play in the first game of a national championship season with a a 5th year QB, an underappreciative local media, an upcoming road win in East Lansing, and an also impending 7 point victory against ND.

Well done, man.

That's immediately what I thought when I saw it. Very similar in look.

Those #1 and #2 jerseys have magic in them.

the defense as a group seemed to be getting a little more "into" their tackles.  Be nice to have a secondary that can really plant guys, even if they make a catch.  Tends to give receivers alligator arms later on in the game.

That was the first thing I thought of as well.

Did anyone just get pumped after some of the hits we saw yesterday? It's something we really haven't seen in YEARS.

It's a beautiful thing watching corners actually play press coverage and not 10 yards off.

Coach Hoke recently made an interesting comment about playing with an "edge".  I'm looking for our team to play with an "edge" going forward.

Both are awesome, but what makes the Countess hit really stand out for me is the fact that coming from him it is a little bit more unexpected.  Obviously Charles Woodson was very physical, but thus far we haven't seen much of that from Countess.  He could be a pretty complete corner if he continues to ramp up that aspect of his game.

prepare because he was up in the air. Woodson also hit him higher which you saw more in 1997 than now with the focus on blows to the head. Both were great plays.
