I agree. Plus Narduzzi with his new pay raise still doesn't make over 600,000 I believe. PSU could lock him up for 2 or 3 million a year for the next 4 or 5 years. I bet Narduzzi would do it.
Bill O'Brien to Texans
He's still a buchiach
Wouldn't that be so awesome? And I'm willing to bet the house that Narduzzi would take it. He'd be an idiot not to. Perfect timing too.
Has no HC experience, why would a place like PSU hire him? They could get better.
I'd work cheap, too
He also has deep Midwestern roots. He can recruit Ohio well. He coaches the type of football PSU wants.(MANBALL!!)
PSU needs a guy who will be there awhile. There is no such guarantees with a Franklin. PSU would be a destination spot for Narduzzi.
Bill O'Brien was the best candidate they could've realistically gotten at that time... this is a much more attractive job today.
I hope he takes Borges as his coordinator. Funk can get swayze too.
I wonder if Hackenberg is pissed
Good. Hopefully they suffer from this.
You are a douche. Explain to me what any existing member of the PSU football team has to do with the sh*t storm that the athletic administration created?
You are seeking vengeance in the wrong places...
Maybe he is talking about the board, alumni, and boosters who created the environment that made what happened possible. While I feel bad for the players, they had a chance to look elsewhere. Unfortunately it is hard to punish one group with out some collateral damage.
For some reason this makes me feel good. He needs an offensive coordinator with a "pro-style" mentality! Bill we have one of those if you want him!
Good. I hope Penn State continues to wallow in their own misery after tonight. I feel zero sympathy for them after that debacle against them this year.
Here's to Hoke and Co. putting a serious beating on them come next Fall.
Don't blame them for beating UM when UM blew the game. What are they supposed to do, give the win to UM? It's in UM's best interest for PSU to be good, for our games to be televised, to have a rivalry like we had in the early and mid 2000's, etc. Don't blame PSU for UM's deficiencies.
Good point. But who can we take it out on if not ourselves?
Oh I don't blame PSU for that loss. That loss is on us.
Doesn't mean I can't hate them for winning, though.
I don't think him leaving is good for Michigan in any way. I think it only benefits tsio.
Why is that? We're all in the same division now.
For one, recruiting in the state of Pennsylvania and all points east of Ohio.
For two, recruiting in the state of Pennsylvania and all points east of Ohio. (Woops double post)
There was an article on the Penn St. Commits and whether they would stay or go and it sounded like Urban was already sniffing around the best ones. Given his ability to take advantage of Penn St.'s misfortune before........ Yeah this helps Ohio a great deal.
C'mon man we used to pride ourselves in playing the best teams with the best coaches and beating those teams! Now we want all hell to break loose on our rivals just so we can have an easier path to the championship???
That's not it. It's so we can have an easier path to bowl eligibility.
I don't blame BOB for leaving at all. Everyone knew eventually he wanted to be an NFL head coach. He took a job in a shitty spot, where the only thing expected was failure and succeeded two straight years. He's set them up better than anyone could expect, and got the opportunity he was looking for and took it.
Greg Schiano is a very overrated coach. He only had one good season at Rutgers and thats about it.
Perfect fit for an overrated program, then.
I'm fat, I call other people fat. I'm an ass I call other people ass. I'm sick and tired of people saying we shouldn't call other teams overrated just because Michigan sucks right now, it doesn't change the fact of the other team being overrated.
They should hire Al Borges, I've heard that guy is pure gold from some people on this board. Please PSU? I'll buy the plane ticket!
This really sucks for PSU fans and college football fans. I thought he did a tremdous job under the circumstances and he was exactly what PSU needed - a calming, respectable face for the program. He came across as genuine which is rare among coaches. I have no doubt he would have absoluetely gotten PSU back to Top 25 caliber teams year in year out. I know he was a NFL guy, but I think he passed up an opportunity to be something special to that university/community. My two pennies...
Congrats to BOB, but this doesn't help the conference out in the slightest. There are rumblings also that Texas may want to interview Dantonio.
Is going nowhere, nor is he taking an interview anywhere.
David Cutcliffe would be the perfect hire. It'll be interesting to see who they truly pursue.
other than being 60, you mean?
Yes, I still think he would be if he'd be willing to go. They need a good stable coach who can get them through the next 5 years. He could certainly do that, and with the way Duke played this year recruits will want to play for him.
Does Penn Stare have any commits that seriously considered Michigan before picking PSU? Maybe we can pick up a guy or two.
here's the nightmare job Narduzzi takes
Maybe I'm talking crazy, but if Hoke is fired next year I would not be sad at all if we tried to get Narduzzi to come here.
And don't give me the ''he's never been a HC before'' crap. Neither was Stoops before OU.
We wouldn't extend an offer to him based on his MSU credentials and he would never coach here based on his MSU credentials.
The big thing is I'm sure DB would do exactly that for exactly that reason. But if we offered I highly doubt he would turn it down. Coaches don't do that if the money is right. There's just no way Brandon would do it because it would f up his image.
I'm pretty sure it's well documented that Bo was an acolyte of Woody Hayes. Yeah I have no problem taking anybody from anywhere as long as that person is the best qualified person that can take Michigan back to the heights of college football.
Hoke may be that guy but a lot of damage has been done to that idea. Next year is huge.
That's like saying we shouldn't extend an offer to some guy with Ohio State credentials in 1969.
That being said, the likliehood that Par Narduzzi will ever be on the Michigan sidelines is zero.
Does anyone know if he's a good coach? For all we know Dantonio runs the defense.
Also this is the possible scenario we could have been in if Harbaugh had come here. We'd be melting down saying what a big pos the guy is for leaving for the nfl. Although O'Brien isn't an alum.
Wonder if Hackenberg is regretting his decision to attend PSU?
What happened to Joe Pa?
I know loyalty doesn't exist anymore, but it's kinda dissapointing that he jumped ship so quick, especially after saying in no uncertain terms that he was in it for the long haul at PSU.
Usually say this but the msm has a great article about the potential politics behind his departure:
Sounds like Penn State has a case of the Michigan Man. People were upset about BOB not keeping Paterno assistants. The more I read about it the more pissed off I get about people who care more worried about clinging to the past and what makes them feel all warm and fuzzy than the football team actually being good.
"Some of his frustrations revolved around what he saw as the lack of leadership at Penn State and his desire simply to fulfill his job description as the football coach, not university figurehead. I wrote about this a few days ago when I thought the time was apt.
Now you could argue that someone earning $3.6 million annually, more than three times the salary of anyone else at the school, has pretty much agreed to become a university spokesman in addition to simply a coach. But considering that the role of politician and glad-hander is one he abhors, O’Brien actually did a fairly decent job of that, too."
Sounds like the same thing Chip Kelly didn't like about coaching at Oregon.
