Someone else on twitter posted this last night and there was a thread on that. You probably want to post this in there.

we've gone over this before. the BTN has a "football special" with no other info scheduled for 7, so that's probably when

and we end up in a division without Nebraska or PSU, I feel like we definitely have gotten the short end of the stick in every aspect. I would be extremely upset.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:37 AM ^
Do you mean Nebraska or OSU? He suggested PSU be in our division, and I'm not sure why PSU would be a big deal.

I on the other hand would be extremely excited if we got into a division w/o Nebraska or PSU(I assume you meant OSU since O and P are right next to each other)

According to spartantailgate.com, Tim Staudt (radio host/sports anchor in Lansing) is reporting this:
per Tim Staudt and "unimpeachable source"
MSU, Mich, Neb, NU, Iowa, Min
OSU, Wis, IL, IU, PSU, PU

I'm not too upset with it. I think we can win that division. Keeps our Brown Jug rivalry game. But obviously the most important thing is when do we play OSU in that scenario?
September 1st, 2010 at 11:43 AM ^
I don't buy it. Wisconsin loses their rivalry with Minnesota and doesn't gain their rivalry with Nebraska like they have been lobbying for.

via Tim Staudt (E Lansing; Michigan and tOSU to play on last Saturday)...
Div 1
UM
MSU
Neb
Iowa
Minn
NW
Div 2
tOSU
Penn State
Wisc
Purdue
Illinois
Indiana
September 1st, 2010 at 11:51 AM ^
UM - OSU
MSU - PSU
MINN - WISC
NW - ILL
but these?
NEB - PUR
IOWA - IND
do you switch MINN-WISC so that you have
NEB - WISC
MINN - IND
IOWA - PUR
September 1st, 2010 at 11:54 AM ^
What about -
M-OSU
NW - Ill
NEB - PSU
Iowa - Wiscy
Minny - Indy
MSU - Purdue
September 1st, 2010 at 11:56 AM ^
as rivals, since they are the newest to the league.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:56 AM ^
WISC - MINN to keep that rivalry.
September 1st, 2010 at 12:09 PM ^
Don't MSU and Indiana have a trophy game? Plus I feel that Minn-Wis is a much bigger rivalry than Iowa-Wis, so let's go with this:
UM/OSU
Nebraska/PSU
Minnesota/Wisconsin
MSU/Indiana
Northwestern/Illinois
Iowa/Purdue
September 1st, 2010 at 11:56 AM ^
UM-OSU
PSU-Neb
Wisc-Iowa
MSU- Purdue
Illinois-Minn
Indiana-NW
That would give everyone an even matchup.
September 1st, 2010 at 12:06 PM ^
M-OSU
WiSC - NEB
IOWA - MINN
Then
MSU - PSU
NW- ILL
INDY - PUR
Iowa already plays Minnesota, and Wisconsin was wanting to play Nebraska because of it. Though they should have flipped Minnesota and Indiana so they could all be cross division rivalries. Though I wouldn't put it past them to try and stick it to MSU and get PSU and Nebraska matching up at the end. But I just think Barry has gotten his way too much lately for it not to happen.

UM-OSU
NW - ILL
NEB - PSU
MSU - PUR
MINN - WISC
IOWA - IND

If the conference alignment holds true as identified by WDFN, it is clear the conference preferred a Michigan-OSpUke championship game paring vs. a play-in game.
The Big Ten is making the kind of business decisions big companies have to make all of the time: Do we guarantee a yearly game by placing the two teams in the same division or bet on a MUCH bigger take at the gate by forcing these two teams to meet for the conference championship? It appears the conference has decided that the big game is a much bigger game in a formal championship environment and worth the risk of not meeting some years, unless there is a provision for a cross-over week, but I doubt it.
Suffice it to say it will serve as further motivation for each school to show up for the conference championship game if they want their "annual" showdown.

Grow up. That's something MSU and OSU fans do. We are better than that.
September 1st, 2010 at 12:47 PM ^
Instead of speculating, I'm just going to wait until it is actually announced. Because my analysis of the divisional line-ups doesn't mean anything.
September 1st, 2010 at 3:49 PM ^
It's been announced. And while most M fans are not happy with it, i'm fine with it. We are Michigan and we're going to show everyone we're back this season. 2011 is going to be off the charts and I'm not worried who we play quite frankly. Hail Hail. GO BLUE
